A lo mejor como libro aislado no tendría una calificación tan baja, pero siendo el cierre de la magnífica trilogía de la Familia Cole queda muy deslucido. No sé si Noah Gordon sólo sabe escribir magníficas historias si las ambienta en el pasado o que la protagonista de este tercer libro no tiene el carisma o la capacidad de pegarte a las páginas sin que puedas despegarte de ellas como sí tenían los personajes de El Médico y Chamán.
Entretenida, una vuelta de tuerca más y un canto más a que tu destino puede estar esperándote donde menos te lo esperas que un libro con la verdadera fuerza de los históricos Cole.

It may have worked if this book wasn't the end of the Cole Family. The main character doesn't have the necessary strong to guide the action and I prefer Gordon stories setled in the past rather in the present time.
Anyway, it's interesting to read. Interesting but not amazing.

Es una buena novela pero queda por debajo de las 2 primeras obras de la trilogía (el Medico y el Chaman). La Dra Cole es descendiente del medico Cole del siglo XI, ella es médico de la gran ciudad de Boston y en una reflexión de su vida decide ir a ejercer un un pequeño pueblo en donde pasa a formar parte de su vida.

Este libro está lleno de superación y de humanidad.
Me cautivó desde el primer momento al tener una protagonista femenina fuerte y decidida a luchar por sus ideales.
Además el escenario de la novela es maravilloso como el resto de los personajes secundarios.
Para mi ha sido un libro que al terminar te abre un poquito mas los ojos, dejándote pensar.

Nada destacable a reseñar... bastante estándar. Poco peso de toda la historia de la saga familiar detrás. Algunos giros argumentales interesantes, eso sí.

En general me ha gustado más que "Chamán", que se me hizo muy largo, pero no tanto como "El médico", para mí el mejor de la trilogía.

Al menos ya puedo decir que me he leído los tres :)

Not in the same class as the others of this trilogy. More of a chick lit book. This book would probably not be enjoyed by anyone who has objections to abortion.

Al igual que los dos anteriores, es un libro lleno de aventuras, esfuerzo y superaci��n personal por parte del protagonista. Te deja un buen sabor de boca y una sensaci��n de optimismo. Quiz�� no sea una novela memorable, pero no creo que decepcione a ning��n fan de Noah Gordon.

The Cole, this time is female and the time period covered is recent. After the rich and absorbing historical content of the first two books in the trilogy, I was disappointed in this one. It is a good book, well written but lacks the depth and the passion that I had come to expect.

I agree with others that Matters of Choice isn't as magical as the other two in the Cole Family series, but I think that is largely because it is written about contemporary issues. I know about these issues, I've thought about them, and I know what I believe about them. That said, I enjoyed the book and would not discourage others from reading it.

Written in the same way as the first two in the Cole series, quite a strong driving narrative. Just missing what the first two had which was a strong plot to go along with it. The books in the series get progressively worse. The first book in the series is head and shoulders above the next two.

Because I am accustomed to the richness of a Noah Gordon book and this one being the last of a trilogy, I wanted to love the story as much as the first two novels. Sadly, "Matters of Choice" was very run-of-mill and not at all up to Mr. Gordon proven talent of story-telling. Sorry, just wasn't there for me.

I was expecting more, having read the first two books in the series and loving them. This book seemed to lack the same heart of the others in the series. I can only surmise this is because the author does not understand a woman's true motivations. The first two books followed the lives of male doctors and I felt he did a much more creditable job painting their lives.
