Loved all three books. The Physician my favorite.

The Physician - book one. Amazing story line with characters to love and hate. The main character was so realistic and likable. The descriptions of the times and places were very detailed and it was easy to put yourself there. I loved the progression of the story. Very well written. I would highly recommend.

Shaman - book two. Again, excellent story line. I did enjoy book one more than the second. Very well written. Exciting characters. Interesting time periods with vivid descriptions. This could stand alone. I would highly recommend.

Matters of choice - book three. I enjoyed this book but not as well as the other two. It was set in modern day and I had enjoyed the previous time periods so much it was a little disappointing to be back in the modern era. This could stand alone. I would read it to see the conclusion of the story and I would recommend, but not as fun as the first two.

I am posting this review to all of the books as is. That way you can see the progression of the reviews. gbash

I enjoyed the book, and it was a very fast read. He first two in the trilogy appealled to me a bit more because they transported me to a different time, and therefore, to a world full of surprising facts and interesting twists and turns. This book, being set in modern times, was less surprising and more predictable. I still enjoyed it very much.

I found myself disliking the modern setting of this book because I enjoyed the historical settings of the last two so much. Also, Gordon's difficulty with female POV showed through in the writing in certain moments--for example, the character keeps celebrating how "women can do anything" in moments when she learns a new skill or succeeds at something, which really rang false. And, ultimately, this felt like a romance novel, while in his other books the romance was important to characterization rather than plot.

I enjoyed this book, but it is not quite what u was expecting, since the first two books in the series were historical fiction and this was contemporary. The topic was a difficult one to tackle. I applaud Noah Gordon for doing so, but can see how he might alienate some of his readership with the views expressed.

Después de tanto tiempo he podido concluir la historia de la Familia Cole, o no?!! Jajaja. Siempre es de mucho placer leer a Noah Gordon, sus libros son geniales y llenos de esa magia que te envuelve e invita a pedir más. Gran libro. Excelente trilogía!

I loved the first two books in this series. Unfortunately, I couldn’t become invested in this main character and felt it veered off path from the other books.

Man limpa abu.

This is a strong, dramatic story about a woman doctor making tough moral decisions. It has good medical descriptions, and hits home with small-town life and living green! Good ethical questions and soul-searching!

Final de la trilogía de médicos de la doctora, en la que una familia con un Don especial ejerce la medicina en distintos periodos de tiempo. Un libro normalito muy lejos de los otros dos de la trilogía. Por cierto gratis en Amazon prime ;).

The least enjoyable of the Cole family trilogy, Matters of Choice doesn't have the power to absorb and educate the reader as the other two books so deftly did. Yet, there are many good things about the book, not the least of which is Noah Gordon's well reasoned apologia, through his protagonist, for first trimester abortion. Never an easy subject, abortion is given two sides: the first an old fashioned restatement of the woman's right to control her own body, the second a heart-rending scene where Roberta Cole's lover loses his teenaged daughter to a botched abortion. Nevertheless, it is clear that Dr. Cole defends, through gritted teeth, a procedure that brings hope and relief to the women who choose it despite the howling hatred of the anti-abortion movement. The book is not entirely about the abortion issue, however. It is primarily about one woman's struggle to live as richly and purposefully as she can. Mr. Gordon seems able to inhabit this woman pretty well. If I don't enjoy this book as much as I did Physician and Shaman it may have more to do with my failings as a reader than with the book's true merit. I just love a good story set in the past than one set in the present. I'm a sucker for a well written medieval or Civil War era tale.

This book was a big let down after reading the first two books in the series. I felt like a was reading a Sidney Shelton paperback. Which I have read but that was not what I expected out of Noah Gordon after reading the first two books in the trilogy. And the politics! Ugh. Very annoying regardless of what side you're on.
