Read this one to my kids today. It is a lovely little novella, and the illustrations were delightful. It inspired my kids to play with some toys they have neglected for a while.
Doesn't hold up as well as The Secret Garden but I'm looking forward to seeing 100th Anniversary edition which I somehow missed when it was released - curious to see how Wendy Anderson Halperin interpreted the story.
Sweet and charming with a surprising amount of twists and suspense, lol, for such a short and tame children’s story. I read it in one sitting because I had to find out what would happen. I enjoyed the dollhouse history that was touched on. The Racketty-Packetty family were endearing. I hope to share this story with my own children someday! Especially when it’s illustrated like the one I read. (The one I read was illustrated by Holly Johnson, which I couldn’t find on Goodreads.)
No idea why I hadn't read this before — I have always loved Frances Hodgson Burnett's children's books. This is the sweet story of two dollhouses and the dolls who live in them.
What a great children's tale to read the little ones at bedtime. I loved it so much it was hard to stop once my daughter was asleep. Thankfully it is short so I only had to wait one day to finish it with her.
