The book begins literally "in the beginning." IN that instant that life is created, the single sperm that penetrates the egg and viola : life! One of the first ideas that really made sense for me was the realization that even at conception -- the developing embryo can feel & those "feelings" are recorded at a molecular level.

The author references the significance of a happy - balanced pregnancy and LOVE from the mother and father are absolutely necessary for the infant to grow and develop in a healthy psychological manner. The angst and/or stress that the infant may feel from the external influences DOES carry over and impact the child throughout their life. It is vital to healthy development to stop and evaluate our "feelings" because they do impact our physical & mental well being.

I am on chapter 7. More later.

Very good book, that gave me an important tool in my healing journey. Yes, the editing isnt top notch, and the author's voice comes off as being overly sweet and simplistic. But the content is uplifting and the tool perscribed absolutely valid. I love the recommended reading list in the back. I'm consantly refering back to this book for additional insight. a very good beginning to learning to take accountability for physical and mental health.

I needed a book on health for a challenge so I thought this would be as good as any since our mental health is related to our physical state. There were some worthwhile tidbits in the book. There was also quite a lot of mumbo-jumbo which made no sense.

Hesitated to give this a 3 which is my "average" rating. On the downside, it is poorly written and needs serious editing. Author wanders all over the place from sense to nonsense and provides long lists of cause and effect associations. The mind-body connection seems absolute to her. I found the Script creepy.
However, I do relate to her emphasis on the need to resolve feelings, deal with issues, try to live a better life

Opening line: “Of all the languages in the world, the most difficult language to communicate is the language of feelings.” Our body absorbs a lot of these feelings and tries to give us signals that would help us to understand and resolve them if we just knew how to interpret them. Do you have a sore left knee? Well, that might mean you are having feelings of insecurity or experiencing unresolved stress...just one example from the book. There are some truly fascinating ideas proposed in this thoughtfully written book. I use it as more of a reference manual for specific body parts, but it has also opened my mind to different energies found in the body and the potential for healing and wellness that we carry around inside of us. The book also has some great summaries of basic, healthy practices to focus on for a happier life. Example: “Unconditional acceptance of others becomes much easier for those who focus on themselves reforming, instead of always focusing on reforming someone else.” Other main messages from this book are how to identify your feelings, own them, and change the negative ones for positive ones. The writing is a little unpolished, but the ideas are earnest and heartfelt. Good food for the soul if you keep an open mind and just glean what hits home for you.

This is one of the most remarkable books I have ever read. It discusses the interplay of and the effect that feelings, thoughts and emotions have upon our beings; that we are what we feel and think; that our feelings, thoughts and words become self-fulfilling prophecies. The author suggests that in many cases, if not most, our unresolved feelings [negative feelings] lead to disease (dis-ease) in our bodies and often account for the ailments (however serious) which beset us. The author also sets forth a procedure ("Script") which can assist a person to resolve negative feelings (howsoever long they have existed) and to elimiate them. This enables the person to return to a more harmonious state (his/her feelings, thoughts and emotions become consistent with the true self which comes from God). The Script does not displace prayer but is consistent with a person's need to pray and God's command that we pray. The central theme of the book is one of internal congruence: that by identifying, owning and resolving negative feelings, we become congruent with our true selves (the God-given truth within ourselves), which lead us to a happier, more joyful and harmonious life. In short, we cease to be "double-minded" and become "single-minded". I highly recommend this book to all.

The first part of the book was... interesting but it did get more helpful towards the end. While I did glean some helpful things from this book that I am going to apply to my life I struggled with the main purpose because I don't understand how the author has authority in this matter. And finally at the end she started talking about some of the science rather than the book just sounding like her opinion. I would have appreciated a bibliography rather than just a "further reading" section so that I could have looked up the available research on specific topics.

Karol Truman has written an excellent book for everyone! As she so clearly explains the trauma beginning with birth, that affects us all in ways we have no knowledge or memory of, to the negative slogans and beliefs we struggle with due to a lack of understanding how to allow spirit to change us.

It changed my life as it can yours.

Though I almost quit reading it when she talks about how our birth experience continues to affect us into adulthood, this book convinced me of an important truth. For years, I've been told it's possible to choose to feel certain ways, that we have control of or at least a lot of influence over how we feel. I used to think that was mostly impossible. Now I wholeheartedly believe that we can change how we feel by implementing active and sincere choice. I love the idea that we can replace a negative feeling by identifying its source and then choosing a positive alternative. I like the idea of taking responsibility for our feelings rather than blaming others or our circumstances. In the past, I have struggled with that weakness.

I had previously heard from other sources, and that was confirmed in this book, that the stories we tell ourselves matter. How we think definitely influences how we feel. Sometimes we tell ourselves stories that are very untrue. Even before I read this book, I believed we can rewrite those stories in our minds. This book validated that reality for me.

I'm intrigued by the idea that how we feel emotionally can affect how we feel physically to the point that those feelings can cause disease. I'd heard that idea before and suspected it to be true. My mother in law blames her first husband's brain tumor on guilty feelings. She blames her second husband's pancreatic cancer on his hateful, unforgiving feelings toward people in his life. I know personally I've felt a link between viruses and headaches and feelings and stresses. It makes sense. However, I think this book takes the idea to an extreme and that it oversimplifies the causes of certain diseases.

Science has learned a lot since Truman wrote this book. Some of her ideas are definitely outdated.

I also had trouble with the idea of the "Script." It reminds me too much of memorized prayer. The idea of talking to one's spirit as if it's a separate part of them is weird to me. I feel much more integrated than that. That would be like talking to my thumb as if it's a separate entity, but it's really all me. I understand that the Script is likely very helpful to some people. For me, I believe I could think about the ideas I agree with in the Script and apply them without using her words or even all her ideas. There is definite and obvious benefit from repeating positive affirmations. These can take many forms. I don't believe they have to be scripted. But like I said, I'm sure it's helpful to some. I prefer to do things my own way, so the idea of following someone else's exact words is unappealing.

Overall, I'm glad I read this book, though because of the outdated ideas, the spirit talking and the Script, I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Despite editing errors, this book was so powerful in helping to find the root of dis-ease. It has helped to balance and ground me, giving me a source to turn to when the dark feelings surface. Grateful to have read this for my Reiki class.

Hmmm...I just really don't know what to make of this book.

I appreciate the overall concept of dealing with our feelings and in correcting erroneous negative thoughts by replacing them with positive affirmations. But, the wording of "The Script" (her outline for identifying negative thoughts and replacing them with an opposite thought) is very strange to me personally. I could not identify with it.

I can buy the fact that if we are not doing well spiritually/emotionally our immune system may not be at its best, but beyond that Truman's claims are a bit presumptuous for me. Truman has a whole list of ailments and what their probable causes are. I can't go as far as to believe that certain diseases are caused by certain feelings or that one might be unknowingly plagued for life by a traumatic birth.
I'm not going to believe that someone who develps cancer is likely to do so because of repressed anger or depression. I can think of examples of people I know who prove that wrong.

I could not read straight through the book. It was too much of a chore. I hoped to get what was good out of it by skipping around.

An interesting book that takes the suggest that emotional issues are related to physical issues/manifestations. I appreciated the idea and insight that our first traumatic experience may have occurred at birth. The process of birth (if you think about it) is so huge for that little baby --- especially after being in a such a warm and protected place. Being exposed to light, cold, and detachment from mom can certainly be huge. I wasn't too comfortable with the script/affirmations. But there might be some that are comfortable using them. I often refer to the book for insight and ideas that may resonate inside of me. I would suggest to others to digest the info and see what it means to them. It's a great platform to start understanding what emotional ties your physical issues could be telling you.
