What I especially liked about this book is how the author covered the entire gamut of aspects of our feelings from generational, DNA, experiential, outside trauma, plus mind/body/spirit and more. She includes a "Script" on page page 95 for self-healing. I typed out a modified copy for myself and pasted it below. I just started using the "Script" and don't have any results to report at this time. I do think that this is a good book to scan to get a sense of the big picture and scope of what influences our health.

•tWith total forgiveness and unconditional love, I allow every physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual problem and inappropriate behavior based on the negative origin recorded in my DNA, to transform.

Note: Before using the Script, breathe through your nose and exhale through your mouth several times. This helps equalize the activity of the brain hemispheres and prevents the mind (left hemisphere) from sabotaging the healing.

Note: The author uses Spirit and God in the “Script.” I replaced it with Oneness. If you use this, you can substitute Jesus, Allah, Creator, Super Conscious, Nature or whatever term you like that represents a higher power or creative energy.

I loved reading about how to deal with past feelings, how to truly feel feelings, & how to meet future feelings with confidence! What a great resource! There's now an app that accompanies this book, which is helpful to keep The Script ready at a moments notice.

In the end, science is finally corroborating the fact that love for oneself and for others, as well as forgiveness and letting go create health. Truman's book is in its 13th printing--a classic in the field of awareness of how physical health and mental/emotional patterns that we hold interrelate. Not particularly well written, but chapter 4 is a good overview of Truman's thinking, and the the tables in chapter 17 on types of feelings and chapter 18 on the causes of illness are food for thought (see also Louise Hays' version called "You Can Heal Your Life"). If nothing else, this book allows people to begin to think about how they may blaming everything in their lives on circumstances outside of themselves (family situations, parents, genetics, job, etc.), and realize how important it is to take responsibility for their own health and well-being. Physical, mental, and emotional pain should not be "stuffed" down; if we want to enjoy life, the journey must start with accepting responsibility for ourselves.

DNF about a quarter in, skimmed the rest.
I started reading this at the recommendation of a grief group. This book did absolutely nothing for me.

Bullet-points of dissatisfaction:
-Book doesn’t really start until chapter 7 (which is titled “Let’s Get Started”)
-Lots of promises that aren’t fulfilled until several chapters later, and they fall short (her great “tool” that she hyped for well over a chapter was nothing more than a prayer-to-self mantra)
-Very little substance. Each chapter went something like this: fluff, fluff, cool story, fluff, promise, fluff, fluff
-She kept picking pieces/quotes from religious text (primarily Christian scripture, but also from Buddhist sources) and using them well outside of context

Some of the stories were interesting, and not ones I’d heard before, but otherwise this was a thoroughly vapid read. Not something I’m going to be picking up again.

The concept is good, but my first impression in reading was pretty poor. The story in chapter 2 on page 12 about scientists trying to measure the brain waves of a person at the time of death has several things in it that set off alarm bells about the story being a fabrication. Some that I remember now are:
* Brain waves for each person being unique? Like a fingerprint? Um?
* The machine they were using barely registered a 50 kW transmitter and they expected to record something as subtle as brain waves with it? Really? The equipment required is totally different in many respects. For example radio waves are high frequency, and brain waves are very low frequency.
* The description of the setup did not match what one would use to record brain waves.
* There was no evidence of experimental design. That anecdote was followed up by a nurse making a patient angry using the same recording equipment. Again, no evidence of experimental design.
* Was this a sample size of one? How applicable is that?

So, I went looking for a source.
* No footnote or endnote
* No sources cited
* No index

How disappointing that this book does not come across as reliable.

wow! life - changing

I’m on a new journey to find answers for undiagnosed pain. I found a functional doctor who recommended this book. While dealing with some possible physical causes, this book has opened my eyes to ALL the possibilities. I have used the script multiple times with positive results. I have begun to “dig up” some buried feelings and emotions. The work is hard but so rewarding. I want something different in my life …. So with the help of this book (and Jesus) I am DOING something different.

This book and it’s app are my go to check in System. Instead of getting burdened by illnesses or emotions I have learnt to reflect upon it and take medical actions accordingly. I feel i have become smart in my own suffering. This book came to me when I was at my peak struggle with autoimmune. I was able to build my own medical and healing team base on this and other books knowledge in reversing autoimmune.

We are all spiritual beings searching to obtain a state of perfection that is already present in us but blocked by the fall of man. We live in a fallen world and we deal with a continual battle within. The battle exists between choosing to resist change and ignore the feelings that stem from our experiences or being mindful of the feelings and listening deeply to the thoughts that have produced the feelings in the first place. When we ignore our feelings, we live in a state of double-mindedness and pain. The pain manifests itself in a variety of ways such as emotional and physical disease in our lives. On the contrary, if we meditate on the thoughts that enter our minds throughout each day, we learn to recognize the source of our discontent and by using stratgies outlined in the book, we are able to actually change our thoughts in turn changing our feelings. It is nothing less than miraculous to find that we ARE in control of our personal well-being in every and any circumstance. Again, while living in the fallen state of this world, we will experience all sorts of circumstances that cause most people to worry and fall. Mindful people view these circemstances as oportunities to practice well being, self-control, peace and above all, love in any and every situation. Praise God for our full present full redemtion and free will to choose if we will live in a redeemed state or a state of pain and suffering. I choose to trust God and allow His spirit to rule in me bringing me closer everyday to what I was made to be.

profoundly healing

This book and the introduction of “the script” is life altering. Peace never fully achieved is now consistently in me. I now possess the tools needed to process thoughts, align them to feelings and work through them with the script.

I was SUPER excited to read this book, and it did not disappoint! I found myself underlining things on nearly every page, and had multiple "lightbulb" moments while reading it.
Not gonna lie, though, parts of it were out of my comfort zone, even with all the growth I've had in my life the past few years. This book definitely falls in the same category as things like yoga, meditation, and positive affirmations. If you get weirded out by those things, you may not be ready to read this one just yet.
But... if you're willing to be stretched a little.
If you'd like to learn more about where your feelings are COMING from and how to deal with and resolve the not-so-pleasant ones. If you're willing to explore the idea that your words, thoughts, and feelings have far- reaching repercussions in your life and can even effect your physical health (or lack thereof)... in that case, I can't recommend this book highly enough! It's brought me new awareness about my own thoughts and feelings, and I'm excited to implement the strategy it suggests and see what happens!

Emotions and health

This book illustrated the connection between a person's health and their feelings, thoughts and beliefs. Bible references aside, i found it very interesting. At the very least, it provided tools for processing negative emotions in a healthy way.
