This was a lucky find at my local Goodwill! I just adore reading this book to my firsties at the beginning of the year when we are getting to know each other! I love books and especially love sparking a lifelong love of books in my students! This book, with its clever rhymes and engaging story, is about a librarian who just loves playing matchmaker between books and readers! The vocabulary is a bit high-level so be ready to front load students with some images to accompany the rich text! I recommend this book for all primary classrooms! A great read!

Told in a Seussian rhyme, this story about a portable library ending up at the Zoo and the animals learning the joy of reading and writing. is a fun introduction to the joy of books and reading for young children. Fun references to The Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew and more will appeal to young bibliophiles, and hopefully get more kids hooked on books. Colourful, imaginative illustrations of all kinds of wild animals completes this wonderful package.
Winner of the EB White Read Aloud Award.

Some of the stanzas feel clumsy and it's a bit long for a storytime, but it has a bookmobile in it and is silly and fun, so I think I will skip some pages in the middle if I read it to kids. The different types of animals are interesting, and some of the humor parents will enjoy. It's very early 2000s, haha, and doesn't explain much about bookmobiles, but it's still a solid choice.

This is so much fun … even after a year's time. The rhyming and alliteration keep it fresh, as do the imitated antics of the various characters.

I loved this story about a librarian who parks her bookmobile in the zoo, then proceeds to help the animals love books, find the stories they will like best, and understand how to treat books nicely. I used this as a book when I read to a preschool-aged child and found it to be a bit too wordy for their attention span. This book would be better for older children and would be great to read as a librarian.

This was a fun one. We read it after the whole family really enjoyed The Zoo in Room 22 and we wanted to see what else Judy Sierra had done. This one wasn’t as creative, but my 3.5 year old seemed to like it and always pick it so I’m giving it 4 stars. Silly story about a librarian who ends up at the zoo with her bookmobile and the animals love reading and open up their own library. Lots of great rhyming and introduction to tons of animals in a fun accessible way. Strong for a book about books as those can often fall flat.

Of course i like this, it's a book about books. This clever story feautres Molly McGrew a librarian who drives her bookmobile to the zoo. And what do you know...the animals like to read. So enjoy a funny zany story, and some fun pictures of zebras, and giraffess and sloths with a book. Spoiler Alert : Racoons enjoy "Garbage Tips" and hippos prefer "Mud in my Blood".

3.5 stars--A strong rhyme bounces throughout this wacky and colorful book about a bunch of animals who are inspired to create their own library at the zoo.

This is an adorable book about a librarian who set up a library in a zoo and got all the animals interested in reading and writing. It is fun to read as it is written in rhyming couplets. The illustrations are very well done. It even got me wanting to write a haiku after reading some cute ones in this book! I would definitely use this in an elementary reading lesson!

I read this as an app & it's just delightful, the story of a librarian who drives her bookmobile into a zoo & teaches the animals to read. I love the nods to other famous children's books i.e "The otter...who never went swimming without Harry Potter" illustrations are beautiful & colourful and the interactivity never takes you away from the main story.

The rhythm of the language invites any age child to listen. I’m puzzled as to the age which would actually engage with the narrative but perhaps 5. The humor is delightful for any adult who must reread a book countless times.
