Iphigenia in Aulis is one of two plays about Iphigenia that Euripides wrote- out of those two, this one is by far the better one. Instead of following a hypothetical situation like Iphigenia Among the Tauri, Iphigenia at Aulis simply tells the story of a father who is forced to kill his own daughter for assistance in battle from the gods. Essentially, this is the most appropriate "prequel" to the Oresteia trilogy.

Since I love the trilogy following Agamemnon and Orestes, I also love this play because it really brings to light the situation that got the ball rolling on Cyltemnstra's hatred towards her husband. Furthermore, before I read this play, Iphigenia was just a name that I recognized, but after reading this, I can get an idea of what she is actually like. I really appreciate having a concrete predecessor to the trilogy, so I realy enjoy this play and probably will have to read it again as a companion piece to the Oresteia.

تدور هذه المسرحية حول قصة الملك الإغريقي أجاممنون حين أراد غزو طروادة وهي قصة مشهورة جداً وذكرها هوميروس في محلمته ، تحكى الأسطورة أن العرافة حيث علمت بنية غزو الملك أجاممنون لطروادة أن يقدم أضحية ثمينة للربة " آرتميس " التي وعدت أجاممنون بالإنتصار في حال تقديم الأضحية، لم تكن الأضيحة والقربان الذي ينبغي على الملك تقديمه سوى أحب بناته وهي " أفيجينيا " التي تحكي المسرحية عنها وعن مقدمها إلى أوليس بحجة تزويجها إلى المقاتل البطل الإغريقي الأسطوري " أخيل " ، سعى أجاممنون مع تابعه على تلفيق ذلك الزواج الوهمي لأحضار " أفيجينيا " ووالدتها " كليتيمنسترا " إلى أوليس والغرض الأساسي هو تقديم القربان للربة " آرتميس " ..


مسرحية راقية جداً يقدم فيها يوريبيديس تراجيدته هذه في قالب مسرحي واقعي جذاب وغير متكلف، الشخصيات تبدو فيها واقعية تعبر عن عواطف إنسانية خالية من التمثيل والتصنع وبعيدة كذلك عن جو الأساطير والمثاليات التي كانت سائدة في تلك الحقبة سواء في المسرحيات التراجيدية أو الحياة الثقافية الإغريقية.. يمكن ملاحظة المسلك اللأدري في عقيدة يوريبيدس وتشككه في ألهة الإغريق حيث يبرز ذلك واضحاً في إحدى أبيات المسرحية :



" إذا كان هناك آلهة، فستجد الجزاء منهم على تقوى أعمالك، فإن لم يكن ثمة آلهة، فما الحاجة للعناء !! "



المسرحية كفيلة بأن تحلق بك في أجواء اليونان القديمة ومعايشة بلاطات الملوك وحياتهم ومعتقداتهم والعيش في ذلك السحر الإغريقي العتيق بإسلوب أدبي رقيق ساحر يبعث على النشوة الأسطورية والتاريخية.. أعلم أن الترجمة تأخذ من أبيات المسرحية الكثير من سحرها وجمالها ولاتعرض للقارئ الجمال الحقيقي لإبداع " يوريبيديس ".. ولكن يبقى هناك الشئ الكثير في المسرحية يستحق القراءة..

Se desprenden varios temas de análisis de esta obra. Están presentes los elementos de la tragedia griega como el destino. El papel de las mujeres es importante tanto por el sacrificio de Ifigenia como por la determinación de la mamá por salvar la vida de su hija. Los elementos fantásticos no faltan al presentarse los dioses, los adivinos y el ascenso de Ifigenia con los dioses.

adeta throwback to İlyada gibi kitap. çok beğendim, diyaloglar harika ve grek mitlerine dair güzel hikayeler var. retellingler bu kitaptan çokça beslenmiştir. Ari Çokona çevirisi mükemmel. tek eleştirim kritik bilgilerin sonnot olarak eklenmiş olması. sürekli kitabın sonuna bakmaya çalışarak okumak biraz gıcık ediyor. koşarak İphigenia Tauriste'ye başlıyorum.

Una vez más los griegos culpando a las mujeres de todo mal y haciéndolas las verdaderas víctimas de la guerra de Troya. El pasaje de Ifigenia aceptando su muerte y entregándose a favor de los dánaos ante Artemisa es una pasada. Un beso a Eurípides por ser el mejor poeta trágico de la antigüedad.

This reader has read Greek tragedies before but for some reason, this one ambushed.

We are so messed up. We are so fragile. Trauma is never far away. Tragedy can enter through any window or door or vent at any time.

Yes, it was a bit melodramatic. Yes, it may not have been completed by the man himself, his last work.

It’s about a father, a mother, a daughter, a son, a brother.

It’s about war and power. Always war and power. Why?

It’s about family dysfunction. Blood does not create love.

Often, we navigate a shared animus with the people we have lived with during the first phase of our lives. We do not always play nice.
