This book has 150 recipes, for the homecook, where not one thing is made from scratch!
I have always liked Sandra Lee! I watched her show on the Food Network, Semi-Homemade regularly!
I gave the book five stars because it contained beautiful photographs!
This book is a lifesaver as I do like, to give my family something new, but not spend all day in the kitchen, doing so!
My favorite recipe was for Beer BBQ Chicken! It sounded so enticing that I made it for our Easter Dinner! There were no leftovers!
Just saying it was YUMMY!! does not do it justice.
I have included the recipe below.
INGREDIENTS:
1 teaspoon canola oil
4 pounds chicken breasts and thighs, rinsed and patted dry (I used chicken wings)
2 medium onions, cut into wedges
1 dark cup beer or ale (I used root beer, as we don't drink)
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
PREPARATION:
1. In a large skillet, het oil over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
Working in batches, brown chicken on both sides. Place browned chicken in a 4- to- 5 quart slow cooker. Add onions to slow cooker.
2. In a bowl, combine dark beer and barbecue sauce. Pour mixture over chicken and onions in slow cooker.
3. Cover and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours OR low for 7 - 8 hours.
For the chicken wings, I had the slow cooker on for 6 hours. The meat fell right off the bone! So good!!
