Ah, the good old "who done it" mystery with three unlikely sleuths! It's always a delight to follow their adventures as they piece together the clues and try to solve the crime. Each of the sleuths brings their own unique perspective and set of skills to the table, making for an entertaining and engaging story. Whether it's the bumbling but well-meaning amateur, the sharp-witted and intuitive outsider, or the experienced but jaded professional, their interactions and banter add an extra layer of charm to the mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this particular "who done it" and can't wait to see what other mysteries these unlikely sleuths will solve in the future.

The journey felt like a never-ending slog from start to finish.

There was an abundance of political intrigue, but unfortunately, most of the characters involved were rather unmemorable.

It was as if they blended into the background, lacking the distinctiveness and charm that would have made them stand out.

The story seemed to be more focused on the complex web of political machinations rather than on developing engaging and relatable characters.

As a result, it was difficult to truly invest in the narrative and become fully immersed in the story.

Despite the interesting premise of the political intrigue, the lack of memorable characters detracted from the overall experience.

It left me feeling somewhat disappointed and longing for a more engaging and character-driven tale.

Perhaps with more attention given to the development of the characters, this story could have been elevated to a whole new level.

I have a deep affection for these side stories that are part of one of my all-time favourite fantasy series.

They offer a unique and fascinating perspective, delving into the hidden corners and lesser-known aspects of the fantastical world that has captured my imagination.

Each side story is like a precious gem, adding depth and richness to the overall narrative. It allows me to explore the lives and adventures of secondary characters, whom I have grown to love just as much as the main protagonists.

The creativity and imagination that went into crafting these side stories are truly remarkable. They take me on thrilling adventures, filled with magic, mystery, and excitement.

I can't get enough of them and eagerly await each new installment, eager to discover what new wonders and surprises lie within.

These side stories are not only a great addition to the fantasy series but also a source of endless entertainment and inspiration for me.

Not as bad as I remembered.

Perhaps it's because I was longing for full-on fantasy back then, but it's definitely not that.

It just so happens to be set in Midkemia, although the only familiar character is Fantus the fire drake!

It's an okay political/murder tale.

It meanders a bit, and could be sharper and tenser.

After all, it has a good base story.

The plot has its moments of intrigue and mystery, but it could be developed more tightly.

The characters are somewhat one-dimensional, lacking the depth and complexity that would make them truly engaging.

However, the setting of Midkemia adds an interesting backdrop to the story, with its rich history and unique magical elements.

Overall, it's a decent read, but it has the potential to be so much more.

With a bit of polish and refinement, it could have been a great political/murder mystery set in a fantastical world.

This is the least favourite book in the entire series up to this point.

Regrettably, it simply failed to capture my interest. I found myself bored throughout, unable to engage with the characters or become immersed in the story, which seemed to drag on interminably.

I suppose it's inevitable that there will be a dud every now and then. After all, not every book in a series can be a masterpiece.

Perhaps the next one in the series will be more to my liking and will reignite my enthusiasm for the overall story arc. Only time will tell.

Until then, I'll have to soldier on with this less-than-stellar installment and hope for better things in the future.

DNF at 20%.

I have always loved every previous book written by Feist. However, this particular one has been so tedious that I have reached the point where I have started to skim read, hoping to find if anything exciting is ever going to occur.

The story seems to be dragging on and on without much happening. It has become a real struggle to get through even these initial pages.

I am now not sure if I will have the patience to persist with the third book in this series.

Maybe I will give it a try at some point, but for now, I am just too disappointed with this installment.

I had such high expectations, but unfortunately, they have not been met.

It's a shame because Feist has always been one of my favorite authors, and I was really looking forward to this new book.

Hopefully, the next one will be more engaging and bring back the magic that I have come to expect from his writing.

Hercule Poirot, the renowned Belgian detective, was on a case that led him to a rather unexpected encounter.

One sunny afternoon, while strolling through the busy streets of a small town, Poirot noticed a man behaving in a rather peculiar manner. The man, who was later identified as Feist, seemed to be constantly looking over his shoulder and appeared to be in a state of nervousness.

Poirot's keen eyes and intuitive mind immediately picked up on the strange behavior. He decided to follow Feist at a discreet distance to see if he could uncover any clues. As he trailed Feist, Poirot observed his every move, analyzing his body language and the way he interacted with those around him.

Little did Poirot know that this encounter with Feist would lead to a series of events that would test his deductive skills to the fullest.

This is military science fiction, which is filled with numerous battles - intense hand-to-hand combat scenes that are described in vivid and meticulous detail.

However, I personally didn't have a liking for the excessive gore that was presented. It was so overwhelming that I had to stop reading.

Nevertheless, if you happen to have a penchant for that kind of thing, then by all means give it a try. The writing itself was actually fairly good. The author had the ability to paint a vivid picture of the action and engage the reader's imagination.

It's just that the graphic and bloody nature of the combat didn't sit well with my personal taste. But for those who enjoy such intense and violent scenes in their science fiction, this might be a real treat.

So, it really depends on your individual preferences as to whether you would enjoy this military science fiction or not.

This was a collaboration that simply didn't work.

It felt as if one writer's style had been forcefully imposed upon another's, and the outcome was rather mediocre.

The premise of the story didn't even come into play until three-fourths of the way through the book.

Leading up to that point, so much emphasis was placed on the characters that there wasn't enough focus on the story itself.

It was an okay read, but I'm not sure if I would pick it up again.

Perhaps with more careful planning and a better integration of the two writers' styles, this collaboration could have had a more successful result.

As it stands, it's a forgettable piece of work that fails to fully engage the reader.

However, it does serve as a reminder of the importance of seamless collaboration in creating a truly great story.

Maybe in the future, these writers will learn from this experience and produce something more outstanding.

**Original Article**: This is a short article. It needs to be rewritten and expanded.

**Expanded Article**:

This is a rather concise article.

It lacks the necessary details and elaboration that would make it more engaging and informative.

In order to enhance its quality, it needs to be rewritten and expanded significantly.

We could add more examples, explanations, and perhaps some personal anecdotes to make it more relatable to the readers.

By doing so, the article will not only be more interesting but also more useful in conveying its intended message.

Moreover, proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation should be ensured to make the article more professional and polished.

Overall, the process of rewriting and expanding this article requires careful consideration and attention to detail to achieve the desired result.

You can clearly tell that the coauthor added their own unique flavor to this particular installment. It's truly enjoyable. I recall that I had unfortunately missed this tale when it was first released. However, now, during my reread of the entire series, I'm thoroughly relishing it. It's like rediscovering a hidden gem. The story unfolds with a charm and a pace that keeps me engaged from start to finish. The coauthor's touch is evident in the details and the way the characters are developed. It adds a new dimension to the overall narrative. I'm glad I decided to embark on this reread journey as it has allowed me to appreciate this story that I had previously overlooked. It's a wonderful addition to the series and I'm looking forward to seeing what else the coauthor has in store for future installments.
