Oof. I really need to lie down.

I think I'll just sit in a corner for a while and think about stuff.

"Flight of the Nighthawks" was a fairly average book, but "Into a Dark Realm" was something else entirely. It took me into a dark room and beat me senseless to the point where the only questions coming out of me were "Who/What/When/Where/Why/HOW??!?!?!?!?!?".

It was almost as if this book was an exercise in "oh you think you know how that works? PSYCHE", and yet it still made sense.

Although I could have done without the tale of Jommy, Tad, and Zane, the rest of the book was just awesome. Seeing the perspective of a Dasati warrior, Pug, Magnus, Nakor, and Bek travelling to the Second Plane, and Miranda's adventures in Kelewan - these were the sorts of storylines I read the Riftwar Series for.

The middle chapter of the Darkwar Saga was an excellent read, and a book I didn't want to put down. I have more questions than answers (much to the dismay of my friend who has already read these books because we can't really talk about it for fear of spoilers), and I will be moving on to "Wrath of a Mad God" almost immediately.

After my soul searching corner sit, I'm ready to dive back into this amazing world.

I was waiting for another book to arrive at the library when I picked up this one.

To my surprise, it turned out to be really good!

The story was engaging from the very beginning, with interesting characters and a unique plot.

I found myself completely immersed in the world that the author had created.

The writing style was also very enjoyable, easy to read yet still descriptive enough to paint a vivid picture in my mind.

I couldn't put the book down and ended up finishing it in one sitting.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.

It's definitely one that I will be adding to my list of favorites.

I'm already looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Overall, it was a great find and I'm glad I took the time to give it a chance.

‘Into A Dark Realm’ is the second book in the Darkwar Saga. It continues the story in a way that is quite typical for the second installment of a trilogy. There is a useful recap of the events from the first book, ‘Flight of the Nighthawks.’ This helps readers to easily pick up where they left off and follow the new developments.

Somewhere on the distant horizon, a more menacing enemy, the Dasati, is lurking. Pug and his comrades must now gear up and make meticulous preparations for the upcoming final showdown. This adds a sense of urgency and anticipation to the story.

Raymond E Feist is a master at keeping the plot and characters engaging and captivating. He does this by skillfully juggling multiple main characters and having them pursue separate goals. Each chapter alternates between these different characters, which makes the story flow smoothly and keeps the readers on their toes. While not all of the various plots and characters may be equally enjoyable for every reader, there is no denying that they all contribute to the overall richness and complexity of the story.

The juggling of multiple plots and characters can sometimes make the story seem a bit disjointed, but this is only until the point where all the plot threads converge. This uncertainty about what is immediately relevant and what may become important later keeps the readers' interest piqued throughout the book.

Finally, ‘Into A Dark Realm’ is a quintessential Raymond E Feist book. It is filled with plenty of thrilling action, memorable characters, and a well-crafted plot that will keep readers hooked from start to finish.

This piece of writing is kind of entertaining, but it doesn't really function as a stand-alone novel.

The ending seems to just occur rather abruptly, clearly indicating that it requires the next book to continue the story.

The 'lore' within it is somewhat interesting, yet also rather too complicated. There are so many gods and high-level magicians introduced that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep track of what is possible and what isn't.

It feels as if the author is trying to create a vast and intricate world, but perhaps has overcomplicated it to the point where the reader can easily get lost.

Overall, while it has some entertaining aspects, it falls short in terms of being a fully satisfying and self-contained novel.

It leaves the reader with a sense of incompleteness and a need to read on to find out what will happen next.

However, if the author can simplify the lore and provide a more conclusive ending in the next installment, it could potentially be a more engaging and enjoyable read.

FINALLY! FEIST IS 100% BACK BABY!

I'm having an absolute blast, just like during the Serpentwar. And we've finally reaped the rewards from the last 4 books. In fact, I'd go so far as to argue that this trilogy might even surpass that set. This time around, we actually have well-developed villains. Valko, in particular, is an outstanding character, and his chapters were by far my favorite. Through him, we gain a wealth of knowledge about the Dasati homeworld, culture, and more. It's truly incredible and showcases Feist at his finest.

That's not to say that the rest of the book isn't great. Pretty much every other point of view is almost as good (except perhaps for the kids), but I'm willing to overlook that since the rest of the book more than compensates. It's easily the best book in the series since Rage of a Demon King.

Overall, this installment has exceeded my expectations and has me eagerly anticipating what's to come in the remaining books of the trilogy. Feist has once again proven why he is a master storyteller, and I can't wait to see how this epic tale concludes.

Overall, I have a great fondness for the diverse worlds and the captivating elements related to magic, evil, and gods.

It's truly fascinating to explore these different realms and the forces that govern them. However, the side storylines about some lads simply becoming mates have started to feel really tedious.

Feist has delved into such plotlines numerous times already, and it's high time to focus more on the aspects that are truly interesting.

There are so many other engaging elements within this fictional universe that deserve more attention and development.

Rather than rehashing the same old story of friendship formation among a group of lads, Feist could explore deeper into the mysteries of magic, the nature of evil, and the complex relationships between the gods and the mortals.

This would add more depth and excitement to the overall narrative and keep the readers more engaged.

The best part of the whole experience was undoubtedly the end. It was like a shining light at the end of a somewhat dull tunnel.

However, the rest of it was just a bit meh. It didn't really excite or engage me in a profound way. There were moments that felt rather ordinary and lacking in that special something that would have made it truly memorable.

Maybe it was the pacing, or perhaps the content itself didn't quite hit the mark. Nevertheless, the end did manage to salvage a little bit of the overall impression. It left me with a glimmer of hope that there could have been more to it if only certain aspects had been different.

Overall, while the end was nice, the journey leading up to it was somewhat lackluster.

Classic Feist

This is a truly great continuation of the saga. The story unfolds in a captivating manner, pulling the reader deeper into its enchanting world with each passing page. I have found myself completely engrossed in this installment and have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. The author's writing style is engaging and the characters are well-developed, making it easy to become invested in their fates. I am already eagerly anticipating the next book in the series and cannot wait to see what adventures await the characters. This is a must-read for fans of the genre and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exciting and entertaining read.

Well, that was infinitely more interesting than the first book.

The story had more depth and complexity, which made it a much more engaging read.

I'm grateful that the conclusion was also held back, as it left me eager to pick up the next book in the series.

Well done to the middle book for being a proper middle book, setting the stage for what's to come.

However, I'm not loving the Tad/Zane/Jommy storyline. It feels a bit forced and doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the plot.

Also, despite her power, Miranda was awfully slow in this book. She seemed to make a lot of mistakes and practically deserves her predicament.

I also wonder how much the line about her features in the general patriarchy/objectification that is present in much of the Feist books.

It's an interesting point to consider and makes me think about the role of female characters in these types of stories.

Overall, while there were some aspects of this book that I didn't love, it was still a good read and has me looking forward to seeing how the story concludes.

All of Feist’s books seem to follow a rather similar pattern. It's always about boys growing into men. And once one set of boys has become men, a new series is written with a new boy to follow. Strangely enough, those two boys who grow into men often have the same character traits.

Another aspect that is quite noticeable is the lack of significant female characters. There's Miranda, but she is barely present in most of the books. And now, when her husband is gone, all she does is whine. It's rather off-putting.

However, I still rated this book 3 stars. The reason for this is that I found the Dasati world to be quite interesting. In fact, it was better than the last one in the series. Despite the flaws in the character development and the overused plotline, the unique world-building managed to hold my attention to a certain extent.

Overall, while Feist's books have their issues, they do have some redeeming qualities that keep readers coming back for more.
