The pace of this book has picked up significantly compared to the previous one.

There are quite a few characters and plots that are running in parallel, which makes it an interesting read.

However, it is not quite as good as the Rift War Saga. Nevertheless, it still manages to be entertaining.

The parallel storylines add depth and complexity to the overall narrative, keeping the reader engaged and interested in what will happen next.

Each character has their own unique personality and backstory, which makes them feel real and relatable.

Although it may not reach the same heights as the Rift War Saga, this book is still a worthwhile read for fans of the genre.

All Feist books are, without a doubt, worthy of a 5-star rating.

However, I made a rather unfortunate mistake. I purchased 3 books, assuming - or rather, I simply forgot to check if they were part of the same series.

Since I was still new to Feist's works, it wasn't until I started the third book that I realized it was actually book 2 of the next series. What a mess!

So, although I'm only slightly lost from trying to read the books out of order, I've decided to start from the beginning like everyone else.

Book one. Here we meet Pug, and I can't help but giggle at his name. Why on earth would anyone name a child like that? It's quite an unusual choice, but it definitely catches your attention.

I'm looking forward to seeing what adventures Pug will embark on and how his story will unfold.

Hopefully, starting from the beginning will give me a better understanding and appreciation of Feist's wonderful world.

The second book in the most recent trilogy is truly a captivating read.

I decided to go ahead and get the hardback edition, which I'm glad I did.

By the end of the book, the scope of the conflict is fully realized and it is truly immense. It spans aeons and different planes of reality, which makes for a truly epic and engaging story.

The depiction of the Dasati homeworld is particularly well-done. It really brings the world to life and makes you feel like you are there.

For the first time, we also get a glimpse into the motivations of the other side. This adds a new layer of depth to the story and makes you question who the real good guys and bad guys are.

The side-story of Zane, Tad, & Jommy as they go to the university, save the prince, get knighthood, and are thrown into the army is supposed to be the humanized side of the story that everyone can relate to. However, it does feel a bit clichéd at times. I found myself skimming through those sections.

Thankfully, the rest of the novel is unusually compelling. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you eager to see what happens next. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys epic fantasy.
