Yuri goes to investigate and finds that the king of Ugarit has received a letter from Nakia that's turned him against Kail. As for the people of Ugarit, they're convinced they're about to be slaughtered--not by their conquest-hungry neighbors the Egyptians, but by the Hittites!

Overall series review, 4 Stars.

I first embarked on the journey of reading Red River a few years ago. However, due to various distractions and commitments, I was unable to complete it at that time.

This year, I finally found the time and determination to pick it up again and see it through to the end.

The story of Red River is a captivating one, filled with adventure, romance, and drama. The characters are well-developed and the plot keeps you engaged from start to finish.

One of the things I liked most about the series was the way the author painted a vivid picture of the setting. You could almost feel the heat of the desert and the rush of the river as you read.

Overall, I would highly recommend Red River to anyone looking for an exciting and engaging read. It's not a perfect series, but it's definitely one that's worth your time. 4 Stars.

The author's writing style is both vivid and descriptive, allowing the reader to easily envision the settings and events as they unfold. Each scene is carefully crafted, adding depth and complexity to the overall narrative.

Furthermore, the characters in volume 1 are truly memorable. They are relatable, with their own distinct personalities, motives, and flaws. As the story progresses, we get to see their growth and development, which makes them even more endearing.

Oh for the love of Holy Ishtar!

Welcome to Book 17! As some of you might have noticed, I have a certain impatience with certain characters, and her name may or may not be Nakia. She might just be the stupidest woman in creation (although I do feel a tiny bit bad for her and Urhi). Let me recap a conversation she had with her brother in Vol 16:

Nakia: Brother! I KILLED THEM ALL.

Brother: OMG WHAT?!?!?!

Nakia: Also I killed Queen Hinti!

Brother: OMG WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS HATEFUL BLASPHEMOUS THING?!

Nakia: Babylonia betrayed me! Left me to rot! I had nothing and no one but my ambition!

Brother: OMG YOU ARE--

Nakia: Oh ps totally killed our niece, our bro has enough he won't really care.

Brother: No but--

Nakia: And you know since I find family expendable...

Brother: I WILL TELL NO ONE OF THIS HORROR.

So that :waves hand: happened, right? In this book, she decides to really heat things up by getting Rusafa (poor suffering Rusafa) accused of assaulting a senator's daughter in the street. Oiy vey..

I don't think she understands Karma very well... But not to worry, Yuri figures out a way to help Rusafa, and Kail all but tells the Queen that if she pulls another stunt, it's her head on a pike.

It's quite a wild ride in this story, with Nakia causing all kinds of chaos and trouble. But it seems that there are those who are ready to stand up against her and set things right. Let's see how it all unfolds in the rest of the book.

**"4.5 Stars: An Impressive Rating"**

A 4.5-star rating is no small feat. It indicates that a particular product, service, or experience has exceeded expectations in many aspects. Whether it's a restaurant, a hotel, or an online store, a 4.5-star rating is a sign of quality and excellence.

Customers who leave a 4.5-star review often praise the attention to detail, the friendly staff, and the overall value for money. They may also mention specific features or amenities that made their experience stand out. For example, a hotel might receive a 4.5-star rating for its comfortable beds, clean rooms, and excellent location.

Businesses that achieve a 4.5-star rating should be proud of their accomplishment. It shows that they are doing something right and that their customers are satisfied. However, they should also continue to strive for improvement and innovation to maintain their high standards and stay ahead of the competition.

In conclusion, a 4.5-star rating is a great achievement that reflects positively on both the customer and the business. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the people behind the product or service and a sign of a great experience.

The only reason why I'm still reading is because I'm almost done reading.

This simple statement holds a certain truth. When we are on the verge of completing a book, there is a sense of anticipation and a desire to see how the story concludes. It's like being in a race and only a few steps away from the finish line.

Maybe it's the curiosity that keeps us going, wondering what will happen to the characters, how the plot will unfold. Or perhaps it's the investment we've made in the book, the time and energy we've spent reading, that makes us reluctant to give up before reaching the end.

Whatever the reason, the fact that we are almost done reading gives us the motivation to persevere and finish what we started.

Nakia this, Nakia that. It seems that for a single character to create such a significant amount of drama, her motivations have remained rather unclear throughout the past 17 volumes.

All we are aware of is that she desires to place her son on the throne, but for what exact reason? This action wouldn't even guarantee her a higher position. After all, she is already in the highest position a woman can hold in the land, that of Tawannana, second only to the king.

Moreover, the wife of the king does not automatically assume this position. As seen with the previous king, who was killed by Nakia a few volumes ago, his wife never had any talk of becoming Tawannana in place of Nakia.

So, why does Nakia go to such lengths? What is her true goal? Honestly, the idea of demonic possession would seem more logical than her current actions. And indeed, this lack of clear motivation is truly holding the entire series back. It makes it difficult for the readers to fully engage and understand the story when the main driving force behind one of the central characters remains a mystery.

Perhaps in the upcoming volumes, the author will finally shed some light on Nakia's true intentions and motives, allowing for a more in-depth and satisfying exploration of the story.

I happened to come across this series completely by coincidence. It was just one of those random moments when I stumbled upon it. But to my great surprise, it didn't take long for it to ascend to the ranks of my all-time favorite series. In fact, I devoured the entire series within a short span of 1.5 to 2 days. The story was truly captivating, pulling me in from the very first page. Each chapter was filled with excitement, mystery, and engaging characters. It was a joyous experience to immerse myself in this fictional world and follow the adventures of the characters. I found myself completely engrossed, unable to put the book down. The author's writing style was so enchanting that it made the reading experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a great read.
