Although it may sound a bit crazy to say this, my conclusion about the series is: I didn't understand it.

Is it a misogynistic plea that says beautiful women are only there to ruin our lives?

Is it actually a denunciation of violence against women, designed to scare those who dare to harm a lady?

Is it simply a horror series with a beautiful, manipulative, superpowered protagonist who finds the most original ways to kill or commit suicide throughout different stories?

Perhaps it's all of that at once, but I wouldn't bet on any of the options. Smarter readers are welcome to throw me other possibilities.

In any case, the truth is that it's a good manga and Ito's drawings make it both captivating and creepy at the same time. Maybe not as much as Maruo, but it could be pigeonholed in the same ero-guro line.

That said, the ending is what it is, and I didn't see much of it. Unless, precisely, that sense of perpetuity is the idea to convey. I consult it with the pillow.

This was almost flawless.

Every story of this volume was beautifully horrific. It was as if the author had an uncanny ability to craft tales that sent shivers down the spine while simultaneously captivating the reader with their beauty.

The descriptions were vivid, painting pictures in the mind that were both terrifying and strangely alluring. The characters were well-developed, their emotions palpable and their actions driving the stories forward in a thrilling and unpredictable way.

Each story had its own unique charm, whether it was the sense of mystery that surrounded it, the unexpected twists and turns, or the sheer horror that it evoked.

It was a volume that would keep readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end, and one that they would likely find themselves thinking about long after they had finished reading.

Overall, it was a remarkable work that truly lived up to its reputation as a collection of beautifully horrific stories.

This rating indicates that the overall experience or quality of the subject being evaluated is fairly good. It suggests that there are several positive aspects, but perhaps there are also some areas that could be improved. With a 3-star rating, it implies that the item or service meets the basic requirements and provides a reasonable level of satisfaction. However, it may not be outstanding or exceptional in all aspects. It could be that there are minor flaws or room for enhancement to reach a higher level of excellence. Despite these possible shortcomings, the 3-star rating still gives a sense of adequacy and value. It shows that the subject has some redeeming qualities and is worthy of consideration, especially when compared to lower-rated alternatives.

Overall, a 3-star rating is a middle-of-the-road assessment that acknowledges both the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluated entity. It provides a useful guide for potential consumers or users to make an informed decision based on their own priorities and expectations.

I lost a point because of the grooming I did.

Grooming is an important aspect of our appearance and can have an impact on how others perceive us. However, in this case, it seems that my grooming efforts had an unexpected consequence.

Perhaps I made a small mistake or overlooked something during the process. It could be that my choice of hairstyle, makeup, or clothing did not quite meet the expectations or standards.

Regardless of the reason, losing a point due to grooming is a bit disappointing. It serves as a reminder that even the smallest details can make a difference.

In the future, I will be more careful and pay closer attention to my grooming to ensure that I present myself in the best possible light.

Maybe I will seek advice from others or do more research to improve my grooming skills.

After all, a well-groomed appearance can boost our confidence and make a positive impression on those around us.

Fascination with Tomie persists, accompanied by certain bizarreness.

You would not desire to have Tomie's blood flowing through your veins or her hair growing on your head, no matter how exquisite the strands might seem.

Sometimes, even the most talented artists struggle to capture the true essence of Tomie, despite their extensive efforts.

One can never achieve complete satisfaction.

Let's not overlook the fact that the girl is manipulating everyone's minds.

Particularly, the one named "Orphan Girl."

Regarding the elder couple, are they truly the villains as they are portrayed? Hmmm.

As always, the artwork of Junji Ito is of a very high quality.

The stories have eerie moments, if not entirely terrifying.

Nevertheless, the strangeness adds to their allure.

It is strongly recommended for those who appreciate unique and captivating tales.

Tomie is a truly terrifying Lovecraftian monstrosity, trapped within the body of an exquisitely beautiful girl. With just a single glance, she has the power to seduce nearly any man, driving them to the brink of madness with lust and envy, ultimately pushing them to commit heinous murders. Strangely, the victim of these murders is almost always Tomie herself.

Countless men and women have fallen prey to Tomie's supernatural charms, and as a result, Tomie herself has endured hundreds of atrocities. However, the world soon realizes that no matter how many times they kill her, they can never be free of her cruelty. She simply keeps coming back.

The story commences with Tomie seducing her teacher and a group of male students. Driven insane by rage and lust, they brutally dismember her corpse and scatter the pieces by a river, all while fighting among themselves like a pack of savages. Tomie's reign of seduction seems to come to an end, but then she shows up at school the very next day, continuing to drive everyone insane. It turns out that chopping up Tomie didn't kill her; instead, it only allowed her to divide, spread, and conquer like an army of humanoid cancer cells.

The book is a collection of stand-alone stories centered around the numerous replicas of Tomie. Each story offers a different perspective on the same monstrous girl. She appears as the daughter of a mourning elderly couple, the narcissistic model for a wannabe millionaire painter, a perverted child seducer, and a medical experiment gone wrong. We see many faces of Tomie, and we can never be truly certain which face is the real her. She is like a combination of every mythological seductress, a siren, succubus, lamia, Lilith, Medusa, and every other deadly temptress you can imagine. On top of this, there is Ito's signature grotesque body horror accompanying each version of the wicked maiden.

Tomie is an enigma. If you slice her open, she heals instantly. If you cut her into a hundred pieces, each piece will regenerate and develop its own form and personality. At first, we view her as a victim due to the brutal way she is murdered by a teacher and a group of students. But as we learn more about her, it becomes clear that she almost seems to want to be killed over and over again. She is intentionally cruel, manipulative, and psychotic, playing the damsel in distress one moment and then happily destroying the lives of innocent people the next. She deliberately pushes people beyond their limits, deriving a sick pleasure from the chaos she creates as the world goes mad with lust for her beauty. And since she keeps returning, there are no limits or consequences to the amount of chaos she can unleash. It is a fascinating take on Lovecraftian horror, intertwining folklore from mythological creatures throughout history and encapsulating it within the body of a seemingly innocent and beautiful girl.

Tomie is Junji Ito's first published manga, and its age is sometimes evident, especially at the beginning of the story. It was also published over a long period, resulting in a significant difference between the first few chapters and the later ones. If you're not initially impressed with the beginning, don't worry, as the art, quality, and storytelling improve markedly over time. It is still an excellent first published work and gives you a taste of the weirdness and brutality that Ito is capable of. I would recommend Uzumaki first if you're new to Ito, but Tomie is definitely worth checking out.

My girl, back at it again.

She's like a force of nature, always full of energy and ready to take on the world. Every time she steps into the arena, whether it's for a new project at work, a challenging task in life, or just to have some fun, she does it with a passion and determination that is truly inspiring.

Her spirit is unwavering, and she never gives up easily. Even when faced with obstacles and setbacks, she finds a way to pick herself up and keep going. She's a fighter, and that's what makes her so special to me.

Watching her in action, I can't help but feel proud. She's constantly evolving and growing, becoming a better version of herself with each passing day. And I know that no matter what the future holds, she'll be able to handle it with grace and style. My girl, back at it again, and I can't wait to see what she'll accomplish next.

2.5 STARS

This rating of 2.5 stars indicates a somewhat mixed experience. On one hand, there are certain aspects that are quite decent. Maybe the product or service has some good features or qualities that are worth mentioning. However, on the other hand, there are also some不足之处. It could be that there are areas where it falls short in terms of performance, quality, or customer satisfaction.

Perhaps the design is not as sleek or user-friendly as expected. Or maybe the functionality could be improved to make it more efficient and effective. It's also possible that the customer service could use some enhancement to better address the needs and concerns of the users.

Overall, a 2.5-star rating suggests that while there is potential for improvement, there are still enough positive aspects to make it an option worth considering. But it's important to be aware of the areas that need attention and to make an informed decision based on your own priorities and requirements.

Part 2 is indeed better than the first Tomie. However, I still failed to find it truly frightening.

As a character, Tomie continues to irritate me. Her nature is such that in some versions of the story, the same plot seems to repeat itself time and again.

Among all the stories in this collection, Orphan Girl stands out as my favorite. There is something about it that captivates my attention and holds my interest.

Perhaps it is the unique premise or the well-developed characters within the story. Whatever the reason, it manages to leave a lasting impression on me, unlike the somewhat tiresome Tomie.

Overall, while Part 2 has its merits, it still falls short in terms of scaring me. But Orphan Girl makes up for it to some extent with its engaging narrative.
