What's that one quote?

A man's biggest fear is that a woman will laugh at him, but a woman's biggest fear is that a man will kill her. Pretty adept that quote.

The whole lore behind Tomie is super interesting and very Japanese. It delves deep into the psyche and showcases the complex relationship between genders. I think it shows how creepy men can be, their actions driven by various emotions and insecurities. But it also presents the idea that a woman's only weapon is her beauty and body, which, in my opinion, is a tired trope regardless if it's true or not.

Anyway, Junji Ito's work is truly mesmerizing. It combines elements of horror, beauty, and darkness in a way that is both captivating and terrifying. His detailed illustrations and unique storytelling ability draw the reader in and keep them on the edge of their seat. I love it for its ability to evoke such strong emotions and make me think about the deeper meanings and themes within.

The plot doesn't advance much, but Tomie is very interesting and the quality of the drawing has increased.

Tomie is a captivating character. Her allure and mystery draw the reader in, even when the story seems to be moving at a slower pace. The artist's attention to detail in the illustrations is evident, enhancing the overall experience.

The increased quality of the drawing adds depth and dimension to the story. Each panel is a work of art, with vivid colors and precise lines. It allows the reader to fully immerse themselves in the world of Tomie.

Despite the lack of significant plot progression, the combination of the interesting character and improved drawing quality makes this installment of Tomie a worthwhile read. It leaves the reader eager to see what will happen next and how the story will unfold.

Overall, while the plot may not be racing forward, the other aspects of the manga more than make up for it, creating an engaging and visually appealing experience.

This statement implies that something is significantly better than the first one. It could refer to a variety of things, such as a product, a performance, or an experience.

For example, if a company releases a new version of a software, it might claim that it is MUITO MELHOR QUE O PRIMEIRO. This could mean that the new version has improved features, better performance, or a more user-friendly interface.

Similarly, if an athlete has a better performance in a subsequent competition compared to their first one, they could say that it was MUITO MELHOR QUE O PRIMEIRO. This might indicate that they have trained harder, made better strategic decisions, or simply had a better day.

In conclusion, MUITO MELHOR QUE O PRIMEIRO is a phrase that conveys a sense of improvement and superiority. It suggests that the current thing is of a higher quality or standard than the previous one.

This collection is actually way more creepy and disturbing than the first one.

Some of the stories were so intense that they actually gagged me.

I find myself constantly wondering what on earth goes on in Junji Ito's mind.

His creativity and ability to come up with such terrifying and mind-bending concepts are truly astonishing.

It's as if he has access to a completely different realm of the macabre and the strange.

Each story seems to take me on a journey into a world of nightmares and horrors that I never knew existed.

I can't help but be both fascinated and repulsed by his work.

It's like a train wreck that I just can't look away from.

Junji Ito is truly a master of the horror genre, and this collection is a testament to his twisted genius.

Part 2 of "Tomie" disappointingly fails to live up to the high standards set by Part 1.

The stories within this part seem more like preliminary sketches, precursors to the more fully developed and terrifying Ito horrors that would come later.

Specifically, the "Hair" sequence gives the impression of being a rehearsal for the haunted spiral-hair concept that would be masterfully executed in "Uzumaki."

However, there is a glimmer of hope in the form of "Orphan Girl," which stands out as the best part of this installment.

Interestingly, it is the least Tomie-centric story and represents a rare foray into traditional gothic melodrama by Ito, who is typically known for his uncanny and grotesque style.

This departure offers a refreshing change of pace and showcases Ito's versatility as a horror storyteller.

Despite the overall shortcomings of Part 2, "Orphan Girl" hints at the potential for future greatness in Ito's body of work.

Overall, both volume 1 and 2 consist of 12 chapters. Personally speaking, I find the story to be rather simple. In my opinion, the premise of the story remains the same for several chapters. Tomie lures men, conflicts arise, she meets her death, and then she respawns like an alien.

However, there are a few chapters that connect some of the stories. At the conclusion of the story, there are multiple Tomies. That particular part is quite interesting. The horror that came to my mind was when Tomie filled the entire world because she is unable to die and keeps respawning. It creates a sense of unease and dread as one imagines a world overrun by her.

Despite its simplicity in some aspects, the concept of Tomie's immortality and her ability to continuously return makes for a captivating and somewhat disturbing read. It leaves the reader with a lingering sense of horror and wonder about what might happen next in this strange and macabre world.

The second volume is much better! There are fewer repetitive stories and the reactions of the characters are more "logical".

This improvement is truly remarkable. It shows that the author has put in more effort and thought into this installment.

The new stories are engaging and keep the reader hooked from start to finish. The characters' actions and decisions now seem more in line with their personalities and the overall plot.

It's a pleasure to read a book that has such a clear progression and development. The author has managed to create a more immersive and believable world in this second volume.

Fans of the series will surely be delighted with this improvement, and it may even attract new readers who were previously put off by the repetitiveness of the first volume.

Overall, the second volume is a significant step forward and sets a high standard for future installments.

Asuka might not kill you, but Tomie definitely will.

Holy freaking everything! Such a simple idea, yet such freakish art. And it will keep on producing as long as Tomie regenerates from her cut-to-pieces body!

Isn't it the duty of a beautiful person to leave a record of themselves in their prime?
Tomie is nothing if not humble. Gotta admire that girl!

Something new or maybe not? In this volume, that I didn't notice before or forgot about. Tomie regenerating from different pieces of her body hates all her other selves and wants them dead. And guess what? They want her dead too! The only way to kill Tomie is by burning her. So they specifically ask the men they hypnotize, by their weird curse, to go after the others and burn them!

I had this open since the end of May! Forgetting about it and getting side-tracked is a me issue, not an issue with this manga. I'm just bad at staying focused when it's short stories that aren't tied to each other, except by the main character. That's why I will probably never watch a TV show like Supernatural, or House MD, or Buffy. Give me a big story with a beginning, a middle, and an end, and I'm your guy. I will forever be interested. But give me bits and pieces of a story in the middle of different cases or whatever is making you dish out 24 episodes each year for 10 years, and I'm running the other way!

Short stories, poetry, essays, or article books have always been like this for me. I just can't stay focused when I've already finished a story and now can go explore and get distracted by something else that just ties me to it with continuity.

Todo es muy repetitivo y en momentos me llegaba aburrir.

It seems that everything is just the same over and over again. There are times when I can't help but feel bored.

It would have been amazing if there could have been a little more development.

Maybe some new elements or challenges could have been introduced to make it more interesting and engaging.

As it is now, the lack of variety makes it a bit of a chore to get through.

I hope that in the future, there will be more efforts to add some excitement and innovation to this.

That way, it would not only be less repetitive but also more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Overall, a little more development would go a long way in improving the situation.
