If you had the power to kill anyone, without any encounter with them or evidence that could lead to you, just by writing their names on a notebook, how would you use it? Would you take revenge, get rid of your obstacles, or simply experience the thrill of killing?

Contrary to these common paths, the protagonist and also the villain of this story, Light Yagami, chooses to serve a higher purpose. He aims to punish those whose crimes were despicable but escaped the law, whether by connections, money, or simply using loopholes in the legal system. By making them all die from heart attacks, he wants to send the world a message: “Crime cannot be escaped.” Those who commit crimes or do evil deeds will eventually be exposed and punished. I do think Light’s method of choosing the criminals to be killed is flawed since he still relies on the media and the existing legal system. However, he was at a very young age when he became Kira, so that would make sense.

The main appeal of Death Note is the intellectual battle between Light and L, who are both brilliant and charismatic characters. The reader is constantly kept in suspense as they witness the twists and turns of their strategies and plans. The manga also raises many ethical and philosophical questions, such as what is the definition of justice, who has the right to judge others, and what are the consequences of playing god. There are no clear answers in the book, and you would have to form your own opinions and perspectives.

“There is the terror and torment that only humans who’ve used it will experience. When you die, I’ll be the one writing your name down, but don’t think any human who’s used the Death Note can go to heaven or hell.”

It soon became a cat and mouse game between him and L, a genius detective who collaborates with the police force. It’s the “evil” versus the “good” as they try to outsmart each other and prove their ideals. You get to see how having the Death Note changes Light, from a moral and rational person with a righteous mission to a power-hungry psychopath who kills anyone who dares to oppose him. It’s sad, but it’s the reality. I often read comments online blaming people from the upper class for making the world rotten and saying that if they all helped, the world would become a utopia. However, in many cases, including the one I’ve witnessed with my own eyes, when the ones blaming get what they have always craved, they become exactly like those who they blame and despise, and the vicious cycle continues.

The world wouldn’t get better with another Kira, but is the world without Kira a great world?

I don't believe it. Do I like this? I used to always make fun of my brother because he gets excited about anime. It's not as bad as I expected. When will I learn that I shouldn't judge things before reading them? I have only one small observation. You must diversify what you read or what you watch because unconsciously you become just a vessel for other people's ideas. Let's not be subjective. You are not different or special as you think. You are just exposed to brainwashing and influenced by anything you read or watch. Therefore, when I read anime, I remembered people who unconsciously imitate the characters of anime.

It's important to be critical and discerning in our consumption of media. We should not blindly follow or be swayed by everything we encounter. By diversifying our reading and viewing materials, we can expand our perspectives and avoid being simply passive recipients of others' thoughts. Anime, like any other form of media, can have both positive and negative aspects. It's up to us to evaluate and decide for ourselves what we take away from it.

Instead of making fun of those who enjoy anime, we should try to understand their interests and perhaps even explore it ourselves. Maybe we'll discover something new and valuable. After all, everyone has their own unique tastes and preferences, and there's no right or wrong in that. We should respect each other's choices and use our media consumption as a means of growth and learning.

My first encounter with graphic novels and manga was truly a remarkable experience, and I might already be completely hooked!

I had no idea how I would adapt to this unique format. However, after reading just a few pages, I found myself just as deeply immersed in the story as I would be with an ordinary novel. What amazed me was how much this graphic novel managed to convey with so little text. I was constantly on the edge of my seat, guessing where the plot would lead me next. It also ventured into so many different genres that I find it difficult to imagine a reader who wouldn't enjoy it!

The story revolves around Light, a high school genius who discovers a magical notebook that has fallen to earth. This, of course, is the infamous Death Note. Every person whose name is written in its pages will meet their demise within a minute. Light transforms into the perfect anti-villain, and his sharp wit, super-smart tactics, and his desire to do good with his newfound evil power made me root for his immoral cause.

The artwork was simplistic in terms of color and design, yet its diverse format and sizing ensured that each page felt fresh and visually appealing. Takeshi Obata is an incredibly talented artist, and his skills truly brought this story to life. I can't wait to explore more of his outstanding work and continue following Tsugumi Ohba's complex and captivating story.

This manga belongs to my son and I really liked it a lot.

It seems to me that it has a great deal of humor.

Light Yagami is a 17-year-old boy, a good student, who finds a notebook. This notebook is not an ordinary notebook, but rather a death notebook. With it, he has the power to kill the people he wants, and so he begins to do so.

However, there is a detective named "L", whose identity we don't know, who will attempt to discover who Kira is, the one who causes those deaths.

I will continue with the following parts.

The story of "Death Note" is truly captivating. It presents a unique and thrilling concept that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. The character of Light Yagami is complex and interesting, as he grapples with the power he has obtained.

Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding "L" adds an extra layer of intrigue. As the story progresses, we are drawn deeper into the cat-and-mouse game between Light and "L", eager to see how it will all unfold.

Overall, this manga has left a lasting impression on me, and I look forward to seeing what else it has in store.

Wow! This manga is truly very cool!

It serves as an excellent opening volume for a series. The pacing is extremely snappy, which keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. The tone, on the other hand, is dark, adding an element of mystery and excitement. It's not just a regular manga; it's a great deal of fun to read. The story seems to be unfolding in a very interesting way, and I can't wait to see what comes next in the series. The artwork is also quite impressive, complementing the story perfectly. Overall, this is a manga that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good read with a unique style and engaging plot.

Death Note was my very first manga, and to my surprise, I found myself enjoying it far more than I initially anticipated.

At first glance, the premise might seem rather macabre, as it involves the concept of a notebook that can kill people. However, this isn't simply a book about "killing people" as the description might suggest.

The true pleasure in reading Death Note lies in witnessing the intense battle of wits between two incredibly brilliant minds, Light and L. Each of them is determined to uncover the identity of the other, leading to a series of thrilling and unpredictable plot twists.

Moreover, the book also delves into some interesting philosophical questions. For instance, is it truly wrong to kill criminals who have committed heinous crimes and are likely to do so again if given the opportunity? And how does engaging in such "vigilante" killing impact the person carrying it out?

These thought-provoking aspects add an extra layer of depth to the story, making it not just an exciting read but also a source of inspiration for reflection.

Começa com a força toda. Isto promete.

This simple statement holds a world of potential. When we start with all our strength, we are setting ourselves up for great things. It means approaching every task, every challenge, with unwavering determination and energy.

Promising to do so implies a commitment to giving our best, no matter what. It's about not holding back, not making excuses.

Starting with full force allows us to break through barriers, overcome obstacles, and reach for the stars. It gives us the momentum we need to succeed.

So, let's take this promise to heart and begin each day, each endeavor, with all the strength we have within us.

Because when we do, there's no limit to what we can achieve.

"Start looking around you.. and all you see are people the world would be better off without."

Light Yagami is an exceptionally bright young high school student. He seems highly dedicated to his studies as he diligently prepares for his college entrance examinations. In fact, he has already pretested with the highest score in Japan. However, the only problem is that Light is extremely dissatisfied. That is until a mysterious notepad comes into his possession one day. The words "Death Note" are emblazoned boldly across the front of the book.

The aspect of Death Note that I found most appealing was how likeable Light was. By definition, he is an anti-hero. His actions lead to the cold-blooded death of hundreds of people (whether they are criminals or not, murder is still murder). He even contemplates the possibility that if any of his family members discover the Death Note, he will be compelled to kill them as well. Despite his rather chilly demeanor, I couldn't help but be in awe of Light's cunning plans and traps as the story unfolds, following him and his utopian aspirations.

First review:

This is my very first manga! It was quite a unique experience reading it from right to left :) However, I have to say that the idea and the storyline are really interesting. I'm definitely going to read more of it))

Final review:

3.83☆

Well, this great manga has come to an end... I actually loved the ending, even though many people seemed to despise it. I thought it was logical and Light really deserved what he got.

Cillian, Ryuk, don't hurt me please.

It's better than I expected. Even after hearing the above mentioned Goodreaders raving about it, I was still quite wary. This is one of those series that is ridiculously famous and popular. From a distance, frankly, it doesn't look too good. (I still don't like the art, but that's another story.) I guess this might sound hypocritical, considering all my raving and ranting about Fullmetal Alchemist, doesn't it? But I had sworn never to touch InuYasha, One Piece, Naruto, or Death Note because I thought there was no way they could live up to the hype or be good enough to make the fans bearable.

I'm still going to avoid three of the above like the plague, if you're wondering. But Death Note, I guess I'll give it a try. It's in no small part due to Cillian and Ryuk, who are crazy about it and can be quite tantalizing with their little hints and such. If the first two volumes (which are all I've read at this point) hadn't been decent, though, not even they could have kept me reading.

So, why I'll read the whole series:

- The idea is really fascinating. It remains to be seen if it asks the kind of profound questions FMA did, but even if it doesn't reach that scope, it'll still be interesting.

- L is kind of adorable. How old is he, anyhow? He looks like a little kid sometimes.

- The battle of wits between geniuses has a lot of potential, and I'm really interested.

Things I'm less happy with:

- There's some pretty blatant sexism on the part of one character. Raye Pember, really? If your fiance was that accomplished, why did you basically tell her to go home and make babies? That's not cool. If this is a pattern, I may drop the series. No, really. Please tell me some girls get to kick ass?

- I'm not really a fan of the art in some parts. The covers are at best garish and not something I want sitting around where my (already anti-anime/manga) mother might see them.

- Ryuk, I'm sorry, but your namesake is an eyesore. Really, really, really unpleasant to look at. Interesting, but unpleasant.

I'm only two volumes in, but I also feel like this story is hurt by the form manga demands of it. There could have been a lot more development of the beginning, of Light moving from disbelieving to using the power of the note so liberally that even Ryuk was surprised. That transition was basically skipped, and so it makes it harder to believe others don't already suspect him.

JOHOHOHOHOHO!!!!!

A brilliant-minded murderer + a brilliant-minded detective = a very brilliant story.

So many murders.

How exciting!

It's amazing!

That's for sure.

Also, I want the Death Note.

Also, I want the Shinigami as an accomplice.

Btw.. This is my first manga! A great choice.

The combination of a clever murderer and a sharp detective always leads to a thrilling tale. In this story, the number of murders keeps increasing, making it even more exciting. The thought of having the Death Note and a Shinigami as an accomplice is both fascinating and a bit scary. It's no wonder this is considered a great manga. And for it to be my first manga, it's truly a remarkable choice that has opened up a whole new world of reading for me.
