Watching the anime again because of quarantine?!

Well, it seems like being in quarantine has given me the perfect opportunity to revisit one of my favorite anime series. This is probably my third time watching it, and yet, it NEVER gets old!

The storylines, the characters, the animation - everything about it is just so captivating. Each time I watch, I notice new details and gain a deeper appreciation for the show.

It's a great way to pass the time during these uncertain times. Instead of getting bored and restless, I can immerse myself in the world of the anime and forget about the outside chaos for a while.

Who knows, maybe I'll end up watching it a fourth or fifth time before quarantine is over!

Just because I am alone, does not mean I am lonely. I am not you.

“Just because I am alone, does not mean I am lonely. I am not you.”

I was 13 when I first laid eyes on the anime, and I vividly remember being completely entranced by the characters and the story. Both the manga and the anime are absolute masterpieces. It truly saddens me that the identity of the person who crafted this fantastical series is so tightly guarded. Nobody knows who they are, and this adds an extra layer of mystery and fascination to the entire franchise.

Light Yagami, a prodigious high-school senior, stumbles upon a Death Note . The sole purpose of this Death Note is that if you write a person's name while imagining their face, they will meet their demise. Yagami utilizes this power to rid the world of villains. Whether you concur or dissent with Yagami's actions depends on your stance regarding capital punishment. However, from the very beginning, Light reveals himself to be immature and prideful, which ultimately taints his plans to increase the goodness in the world. In an attempt to halt Light's destructive scheme, L - perhaps one of the greatest fictional characters ever brought to life - endeavors to stop him.

I firmly believe I adored this anime because it was incredibly intelligent. The plot was simply mind-blowing. I have always had a penchant for deconstructing books and paying meticulous attention to the tiniest of details. I can usually anticipate plot twists, but in this manga, there was so much that caught me completely off guard.

The allure of this book lies in its two main characters - Light and L. They are both brilliant, intelligent, flawed, mysterious, and incredibly talented. They share certain similarities, yet their ideologies couldn't be more different. The mind games they engage in with each other are utterly captivating to watch. They are both among the most intelligent and well-developed fictional characters I have ever had the pleasure of encountering.

I have a particular soft spot for L, and he was the primary reason I fell head over heels in love with these books. In middle school, I was completely blown away by L's quirks, intelligence, and deductive abilities. I had initially thought that upon re-reading the series as an adult, I might discover flaws in him, but to my surprise, I didn't. I have had the opportunity to peruse a plethora of wonderful books since then, but none of them boasted characters as introspective as Light and L. The mental battle between them is akin to witnessing an epic game of chess.

Argh, this entire series is just so darn addicting. Once you commence watching the anime or reading the manga, it becomes almost impossible to tear yourself away. It also delves into deeper questions: What does it truly mean to be evil? Is capital punishment inherently wrong? Is Light driven by a hunger for justice or power?

I bestowed a perfect rating (which is extremely rare for me) upon this manga solely based on how impeccably developed Light and L are. I seldom read manga these days, yet I find myself constantly thinking about this one, even though it has been years since I last read it. The beginning of this manga is an absolute tour de force; however, after

After a certain point, I did indeed cease reading this manga. The ending struck me as somewhat lazy in its execution. Given the undeniable brilliance of Ohba, I am certain he or she could have done a far better job with the conclusion. Nevertheless, the beginning of this manga is so outstanding that I simply cannot rate it lower than a 5-star.

When something like this attains popularity, it surprises me in the most delightful way. Sometimes a story touches you so deeply that you want to hoard it all to yourself. I saw a great deal of myself in both L and Light, and recommending this story to others almost felt like baring a part of my soul, which may sound strange, but it is the unadulterated truth. I am truly glad that this book has received the recognition it so richly deserves.

If you have not yet delved into Death Note , be it through reading the manga or watching the anime, I wholeheartedly recommend that you do so. Even if crime, thriller, or mystery books are not typically your cup of tea, the characters in this story are so astonishingly intelligent that I firmly believe everyone can pick up Death Note and be left in a state of awe.

I think if a Shinigami bestowed upon you a death note - and let me clarify, a Shinigami is like a deity or spirit that governs the manner in which HUMANS (that's you) meet their end (yes, die!) and also the timing, simply by jotting it down. Oh, and this death NOTE isn't just a regular note, it's a NOTEBOOK, to be perfectly clear. Anyway, the reason this becomes a matter of significance is that this particular Shinigami is extremely bored in the realm where he and his fellow death gods reside. They always inhabit a REALM, have you noticed? Never in a house or an apartment, always a realm. Well, it turns out that in the death god realm, there's not much to do. They get really tired of writing down name after name, with causes like stroke, general organ failure, rabies, or giraffe attack beside them. These Shinigami lack much initiative. Otherwise, they could have, I don't know, obtained a franchise to create a death realm Disneyland or play crazy golf or something. I don't know what people do for entertainment. A lot of the people I know just watch football. So maybe they could get Sky up there and follow the English Premier League and see how Manchester United fares under Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Whatever. The clue is in the title of this first volume here, BOREDOM. So, because of that, this particular Shinigami leaves a death note (that is, a noteBOOK) for this 17-year-old kid to discover. And then he has the power to cause anyone to perish, and that's what you call a responsibility. I wouldn't desire that.

But I wouldn't object if a lower-ranking Shinigami from a lower REALM left me a SICK NOTE so that I could make anyone seriously ill. That would be great. There are a lot of politicians I could name who would be writhing around on Christmas Day after the turkey, and not in a pleasant way.

So, is this 17-year-old kid's plan to improve the world by killing numerous people ethically justifiable or not? This is the crucial issue. Omelets and eggs, eggs and omelets. If Pol Pot were asked, he would have said yes. Similarly, Stalin. But if you asked Princess Diana or Walt Disney, they would have said no. Hmm, Stalin, Princess Diana, Pol Pot, Walt Disney. It's beyond my pay grade.

One of the very first animes that I have ever had the pleasure of watching was back around 2012, probably. I remember it vividly. I have rewatched it not just once, but twice. The first time was with my partner-for-life, and the second time might have been during Eid. Or perhaps it was a binge watch during Eid in 2012 the very first time, to be honest, I can't quite recall. However, what I do remember clearly is that even during the third viewing, it had the power to excite me, annoy me, and hurt me in exactly the same places. Now, I have embarked on a new journey with this beloved series. I am reading the manga, not so much for the story this time, but rather for its magnificent art. This is my fourth encounter with it, and I am far from being bored. In fact, the art is so captivating that it is keeping me glued to the pages. I find myself spending minutes upon minutes to turn each page, almost as if I am reading paintings. It's a whole new experience, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. ;)

My first Manga :)

Manga has always fascinated me with its unique art style and engaging stories.

So, when I finally got my hands on my very first Manga, I was over the moon with excitement.

The moment I opened the cover, I was greeted with vibrant illustrations that seemed to come to life on the page.

The characters were so well-drawn, with their distinct personalities shining through in every expression.

As I delved deeper into the story, I found myself completely immersed in the fictional world that the author had created.

The plot was full of twists and turns, keeping me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end.

I couldn't put the Manga down until I had finished reading the last page.

My first Manga experience was truly unforgettable, and it has left me eager to explore more of this wonderful medium.

Okay, so I absolutely adored this! It was a rather brisk and fast-paced read for me. Seriously, I didn't have a moment of rest. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire time.

Admittedly, it took me a few chapters to get accustomed to reading in the correct direction. But I'm sure I'll manage it eventually!

Death Note volume one features well-drawn graphics and a cast of characters that are thoughtfully conceived and fantastically developed. I could have easily devoured this in one sitting if time had permitted.

I had heard great things about Death Note, and initially, when I first heard about it, the title didn't pique my interest. To be honest, I simply didn't care. However, as I've also started to watch the anime, I decided to pick up the first volume and plunge right in. By doing so, I've realized what on earth I've been missing out on!

\\n  \\n    “Start looking around you... and all you see are people the world would be better off without.”\\n  \\n

Wow! It's truly no wonder that Death Note is such an incredibly popular manga. I adored every single aspect of this first volume! The characters and the prose were completely unlike anything I've ever read before. It was a truly unique and captivating experience.

\\n  ~★~ What is this book about? ~★~\\n

When Ryuk, a god of death, drops his notebook, it is Light Yagami who discovers it. The notebook, titled Death Note, has the power to guarantee the death of anyone whose name is written within its pages. Ryuk and Light form an unlikely acquaintance and embark on a mission to eliminate criminals using the book. However, the sudden series of deaths among prisoners quickly raises alarm among the authorities, putting Light in far more danger than he initially anticipated.

~★~

The dynamic between a high school student and a god of death was not something I expected to be so engrossed in, but here we are. Light and Ryuk are such strange and wonderful characters. Light's nonchalance when meeting an outwardly terrifying creature like Ryuk was quite hilarious. And Ryuk, oh Ryuk! This duo is going to be a delightfully problematic pair for me in all the best ways, I just know it.

The plot of Death Note is so fascinating that I breezed through this volume in no time at all. I loved watching Light and L attempt to uncover each other's identities while Ryuk monitored their every move. It's a complete mystery as to what will happen next, but I'm on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting to find out. I'm pretty sure Death Note is also one of the most widely read manga on Goodreads, and it's easy to see why. This is a story that even those who have never read manga before will fall in love with, and that in itself is an amazing achievement.

Trah la la,

I have a manga that I'm completely in love with. I'm so smitten that I need the rest of the series right away. I might just have to go out and get them because I simply can't wait any longer. I was so excited that I even pre-ordered the freaking Funko of L. I'm head over heels in love with L. Unfortunately, I didn't like the Funko's of Ryuk or Light. I was really hoping for Ryuk to look cool, but he doesn't at all. And here I am, just babbling away.

Thank you to all of my GR friends who pushed me onto this manga. In fact, it was sweet Ashley, my hufflepuff, who sold me on it first. =) ♥

This manga is so freaking cool. So, Ryuk is a Shinigami <-- did I spell that right? which means he's a Death God. He just happened to drop his Death Notebook in the human world because he was bored. Ha!

Then this extremely smart kid named Light finds it and takes it home. Then Ryuk shows up. Apparently, whoever possesses the notebook can write in the names of people they want to die and they can see Ryuk when no one else can. Oh happy day!

Light decides to do the good thing and kill off evil people, mostly the ones that are already in jail. I don't see anything wrong with that, but the cops think it's murder even though he's doing it for the greater good. Although, he wants to be on top of the world and be his own god, so yeah...

Then the cops call in L <---screee... and he is going to hunt Light down and put a stop to it.

I can't even imagine what is going to happen in the next several books! I hope nothing bad happens to L and no one better tell me. I like Ryuk too. Anyway, I'm on the edge of my seat,迫不及待 to read them all!

Come on, it doesn't get more original than this.

I've already watched "Death Note", so the story isn't as shocking for me as it might be for someone who's new to it. However, it's still as interesting as it was last summer. The characters are truly amazing, and I can't wait to see how they develop throughout the series. Light VS L is probably one of the most epic "battles" I've ever had the chance to read or watch.

Apart from the obviously intelligent characters and the unique and captivating story, what really stands out to me is that this series questions our morality and principles. What is right and what is wrong? In "Death Note", there's no clear line between right and wrong, good and bad. Everyone has different opinions, and everyone sees Light's or L's actions differently. That's precisely what makes "Death Note" so incredibly interesting.

Takeshi Obata, the artist/illustrator of "Death Note", is simply amazing. He deserves a huge round of applause for his work.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this, and I'm already starting the next volume. PS. I don't know why, but I listened to "I Follow Rivers" while reading this, and it was a great combination. ☺
