In this installment, Hikaru is delving deeper and deeper into the captivating world of Go. He has now joined a Go club and is actively participating in a tournament. It is truly fascinating to witness how the character of Hikaru is evolving and maturing.

He is gradually becoming a little more confident in his abilities and is not afraid to make bold plays on his own. This newfound confidence is not only helping him in the game but also shaping his overall personality.

I, for one, am completely intrigued by the rich and complex Go culture. Reading about it has been a truly enjoyable experience. The author has done an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Each character is written with such depth and authenticity that it makes me eager to turn the page and read more.

The story of Hikaru's journey in the world of Go is not only about the game itself but also about personal growth and discovery. I can't wait to see what lies ahead for Hikaru and how his character will continue to develop.

Japanese comics have a unique reading style where you have to read in the opposite direction, from left to right instead of the usual right to left, and the same goes for the page. At first, it can be a little awkward to get used to this different way of reading.

The story of this particular comic focuses on tournaments that are played among middle schoolers, which actually reminds me of Chess. It's an interesting concept that keeps you engaged to some extent.

Overall, I would say it was an okay read. However, I don't have any plans to continue or read the entire series or volumes. One reason for this is that the names in the comic were a little confusing for me. For example, Akira was a boy, but in my experience, those I know with this name are women. In fact, Egyptians have also used this name. On the other hand, Akari was a female. Interestingly, I actually like both names, but the confusion they caused still affected my reading experience to some degree.

Unexpectedly compelling for a manga about a board game I have no clue how to play!

This manga has truly surprised me with its ability to engage and captivate despite my complete lack of knowledge about the board game it is centered around.

The story and characters are so well-developed that they draw you in and make you want to keep reading.

What I really appreciated was the fact that the basic rules of the board game were shown at the end of some of the chapters.

This was a great addition as it allowed me to have a better understanding of what was going on in the story and added an extra layer of depth to the overall experience.

Even if you have no interest in the board game itself, this manga is definitely worth checking out for its entertaining story and well-executed art.

We enter the middle of the scene where Tetsuo Kaga is introduced. In fact, he is now playing Shogi instead of Go after realizing that he will never be as good as Akira. Then his ambition emerges, and together with Tsutsui and Hikaru, they sign up for the Go tournament. This volume ends with the scene when the clubmates in Akira's new school debate that they want to give him a lesson.

This time, the cover is my favorite character, Sai!!! with a serious face and his characteristic hat of the Heian era court. It is truly an amazing artwork ^^

I'm only 2 volumes in but the none of the characters have annoyed me yet so...

It's truly very promising. This is quite a rare occurrence in many series. Usually, by this stage, there would be at least one character that grates on the nerves or behaves in a way that is off-putting.

However, in this particular case, all the characters seem to be well-developed and interesting. Their actions and personalities are engaging, and I find myself eager to learn more about each of them.

The story also seems to be progressing at a good pace, with enough mystery and intrigue to keep me hooked. I'm looking forward to seeing how the characters will evolve and what new challenges they will face in the upcoming volumes.

Overall, I'm very impressed with what I've read so far and would highly recommend this series to others.

Hikaru no Go's second volume delves deeper into the school arcs. Hikaru is pushed to enter a middle school go tournament, while Akari discovers her new path in the go world. This volume slows the pace a little to emphasize Hikaru's school life. New characters are added to the core cast, and Akari Jujisaki takes the spotlight as she shows an increasing interest in go. Tournament arcs are a common feature in sports manga/anime, and Hotta presents it in an engaging way, intertwining it with Hikaru and Akari's journey to figure out their goals. Obata's art remains excellent, with thoughtful paneling and meticulous attention to detail in the go matches.

Although Vol. 2 of Hikaru no Go is slightly less strong than the debut volume, it still builds effectively on the first chapters and lays the foundation for the upcoming arcs of the series. It keeps readers engaged and eager to see what lies ahead for Hikaru and Akari in their go adventures.
