Such a sweet story, even with all the battles.

It kind of feels like a Beauty and the Beast retelling. At least there's Izark's curse, which was a result of his own mother making a bargain with his birth that involved gold. And everyone is afraid of him except Noriko.

Also, when she carries him to safety across her back, I was bombarded by all the feels. Noriko is not some helpless ingenue who is weak and "girly" just for the sake of it. In fact, she's giving the best dose of reality I've ever seen in a manga of this genre.

She's doing her best as a stranger in a strange land. She's even planning to learn the language. And her affection for Izark is simply gratitude, caring for the one who risked it all to care for her.

All I'm saying is it's nice to see a heroine adjusting on her own terms, as opposed to just falling in line with her love interest's quest. It makes the story more engaging and relatable, as we get to see her grow and develop in her own way, not just as a sidekick to the male lead.

This aspect really sets this manga apart from others in the same genre and makes it a must-read for anyone who enjoys a good romance with a twist.
