I am truly and deeply in love with the two main characters of this series.

It is quite remarkable that I don't recall ever seeing the language barrier being acknowledged in a portal fantasy before. This unique aspect gives rise to some really charming and sweet scenes, as well as clever instances of dramatic irony.

Moreover, it showcases how intelligent and resourceful the heroine is. Despite not being physically strong or having in-depth knowledge about the strange world she has found herself in, she manages to navigate through various challenges with her wits.

In "From Far Away", it seems that the plot and world building take a bit of a back seat to the characters. However, I believe it works extremely well so far because their personalities are so vividly and skillfully rendered.

The author has done an excellent job of making the characters come alive on the page, and it is their interactions and development that keep me hooked and eager to read more.

I can't wait to see how their story progresses and what new adventures and obstacles they will face along the way.

Welcome to volume 2 of From Far Away!

In this volume, Izark and Keimos engage in a battle of wits and strength as they learn the measure of each other. Meanwhile, Rachef's strange behavior continues to baffle those around him, and the revelation that Noriko is adopted adds an interesting twist to the story.

The new cast member, Seer Gorya, makes his first appearance as Rachef's main seer and vassel. We also learn about the "chimos", an animal similar to a chinchilla that has the ability to help a person teleport.

Noriko is determined to learn the language and be useful, having learned from a young age that dwelling on misfortunes does no good. Instead, she focuses on creating a fulfilling present and helping those who have offered her so much.

Izark, on the other hand, has a tragic back story that is slowly being revealed. He resolves to find a way to protect Noriko, who is seen as the Awakening of Doom and Destruction, from harm.

Keimos is a complex character, bordering on being a psychopath or sociopath. He sees the world in terms of strength and weakness and only cares about those who are strong until they prove stronger than him.

Rachef shows his true colors when he unleashes a powerful ability, motivated by the desire to avoid being a burden if he were to get hurt.

Meanwhile, the villagers of Calco waste no time speculating about Izark and Noriko, and the Mayor is not shy about asking Izark to deal with their bandit problem. It's a chaotic and exciting volume that leaves readers eager to see what happens next.

We are introduced to one of the bad guys, who is also the . Ahhhh, the art is so pretty and it just makes me so relaxed.

Noriko and Izark start to become a little closer, and we start to learn more about his abilities. It's quite fascinating to see how their relationship is evolving.

This is truly how you write a good romance with an interesting world. It keeps the reader engaged and eager to find out what will happen next.

We can't wait to see how Noriko and Izark's story continues to unfold and how their relationship will be affected by the various challenges and obstacles that come their way.

Well, that was truly good!

I really like the concept of this volume. It features two people who are somehow compelled to stay together despite not speaking the same language. They attempt to communicate with each other, but it's no easy feat. Poor Noriko does her utmost to learn the language.

In addition, she manages to save the hero when he's rather sick. I absolutely love it when female characters have strength and backbone!

Every now and then, Izark gets pointed teeth. Is this merely a ploy to depict his rage, or is he truly non-human? I'm eagerly hoping that the answer will be revealed soon.

Now, it's time to move on to the third volume. And please, please, let the postal system deliver my order promptly! I can't wait to continue reading and find out what happens next in this captivating story.

An interesting story indeed, but it seems to be progressing at a rather slow pace. The plot has its moments of intrigue and charm, yet the narrative flow could be enhanced to keep the reader more engaged. There are certain details that are perhaps being dwelled upon a little too long, causing the overall momentum to lag. However, this doesn't mean the story lacks potential. With a few adjustments here and there, it could really take off and become a captivating read. The characters are well-developed and have their own unique personalities, which is a plus. It's just a matter of finding the right balance between providing enough detail and keeping the story moving forward at a brisker pace.

I am filled with fangirl excitement as I pen this review. Volume two of this series was every bit as good as volume one, if not better. It was jam-packed with action, and I have this urge to reread the first half just to witness Izark's glorious moments. We are clearly seeing more of his non-human qualities. I'm quite certain he should have perished at least twice, yet here he stands, much to my relief. I don't know what I would have done if he had died because I truly, deeply love his character. The way he softens when he sees Noriko care for him is simply heartwarming. <3 (But that flashback! I can't bear a sad Izark!)

Norikio remains an outstanding heroine. She may not be the typical "modern" shojo heroine who is strong and knows exactly what she wants, but I truly appreciate the transparency of her character and her determination to become strong. Moreover, she has endured so much in just four days in this strange land. It's no wonder she isn't saving the day in the same way Izark is. (I really missed their togetherness for a brief period in this volume. I hope it doesn't happen again.)

I'm extremely curious about a particular character we met briefly in volume one. I suspect he will be a dangerous player, and although I'm not looking forward to seeing more of him, his character design is one of my favorites. LOL!

Overall, this series continues to be amazing, and I absolutely adore it. I remain a strong shipper of Noriko and Izark and eagerly anticipate seeing our heroine grow and learn the language to communicate with Izark. <3

Noriko lives in a far far away place.

Her small town is tucked away in a corner of the world, almost forgotten by the hustle and bustle of modern life.

The days there are slow and peaceful, with the sun rising gently over the mountains and setting slowly behind the old church.

Noriko loves her little town and the simple life it offers.

She spends her days helping her parents in the family store, chatting with the neighbors, and taking long walks in the countryside.

Although her town may be far from the big cities and all the excitement they have to offer, Noriko knows that her home is a special place, filled with love and warmth.

She is content with her life and looks forward to each new day, ready to embrace whatever comes her way.

4 stars. "As long as he's human..." THE GIRL SAVES THE GUY!!!!

THIS is the fantasy series I have been searching for high and low. It has been an eternity since I delved into a story filled with fantasy, adventure, and the promise of romance that completely captured my heart. The last time was perhaps when I was engrossed in Assassin's Apprentice and A Darker Shade of Magic.

In this volume, Izark falls ill. When Noriko brings a doctor to examine him, the doctor concludes that Izark has a disease that he cannot cure. We catch a glimpse of his past and learn that Izark's mother was paid in gold to bear him. We don't know who his father is, but we know that his mother shunned him and ensured that the public despised him.

As expected, Izark has been isolated his entire life and is truly astonished that the girl he rescued, Noriko, still trusts him implicitly. When he is threatened by the thieves he encountered in the first volume in his weakened state, it is NORIKO WHO COMES TO HIS RESCUE. Yes, the girl CARRIES HIS UNCONSCIOUS BODY under a bridge and attempts to fend off experienced bandits to save him.

Now, Izark must weigh a great deal more than Noriko. She is very petite and has practically no physical strength, yet it shows that she is doing everything within her power to be of assistance. That's something most YA protagonists can't even claim.

With a potential antagonist flaunting his good looks and intimidating presence and actually seeming like a rather decent bad guy, this series has hooked me. Izark has decided to bring Noriko along because he figures that when she learns his language, she might reveal that she is the Awakening. Of course, nothing is certain, but it's almost a given that Noriko is the Awakening, although Izark does have his doubts. And he never thought "If she learns my language" because he realizes that she is not only extremely intelligent but also that this girl can handle herself and protect those she cares about if she sets her mind to it.
