I once had a dream like this.

It was a vivid and enchanting dream that left a lasting impression on me. In the dream, I found myself in a beautiful and magical place. The scenery was breathtaking, with lush green forests, crystal-clear lakes, and colorful flowers blooming everywhere. I felt a sense of peace and tranquility wash over me as I walked along the paths, breathing in the fresh air.

As I continued my journey, I came across a group of friendly animals. They welcomed me with open arms and led me to a hidden cave. Inside the cave, there was a treasure chest filled with precious gems and gold. I was amazed and excited, but at the same time, I knew that this was just a dream.

When I woke up, I still remembered the details of the dream clearly. It made me realize that dreams can be a source of inspiration and motivation. Although they may not be real, they can give us a glimpse of what is possible and encourage us to pursue our goals and desires.

I can't seem to fathom the allure of Herman Hesse.

Perhaps I'm in error, considering he has been awarded the Nobel Prize and someone whose opinion I hold in high regard has given this book a five-star rating.

Nonetheless, despite my best efforts, not only do I perceive Hesse as a poor writer, but the very thought of referring to him as a writer makes me cringe.

In my view, he is no different from Paulo Coehlo.

This book encompasses all the elements I despise in a "novel": repulsive, shallow, racist, and colonialist "eastern" "mysticism", lacking a genuine plot, real events, and authentic characters.

The symbolism is blatant and superficial, and it is filled with a litany of nauseating "inspirational" quotes that would be more at home on the Facebook feed of those with no comprehension of philosophy and religion, scrawled across a photo of a sunset or a rainforest, in sans-script font, rather than within the pages of a novel.

It truly baffles me how this work could be so highly regarded.

To chyba jedna z tych książek, które muszę sobie na spokojnie przemyśleć.

It is probably one of those books that I have to think about calmly.

There are many books in the world, but only a few can truly touch our hearts and make us think deeply.

This particular book seems to have that special charm.

Maybe it's the unique plot, the well-developed characters, or the profound themes it explores.

Whatever the reason, I know that I need to take my time and really soak in the essence of this book.

I will set aside some quiet time, perhaps in a cozy corner of my room, and just let myself be carried away by the words on the page.

As I read, I will reflect on my own life and experiences, and see how they relate to the story being told.

I believe that this process of thinking and reflecting will not only enhance my understanding of the book, but also help me grow as a person.

She asks me if I know her! But who really knows another person or even oneself? I am not the one who can understand people ever! So I am not interested in them.

And there is nothing left for me to do but to satisfy my last desire, which is to let myself go and fall to the edge of the world into the void.

The worries, the doubts, and the self-accusations
flow from me like water from a broken jug, without thinking, without faith, without hope.

The dreams of hair are more alive and real than the poets themselves.

Regret alone is not enough. Mercy cannot be bought with regret. It can never be bought. *

* Hessa

It begins with the story of H.H. who joined a journey related to the East. They walk in search of the truth and live in an atmosphere filled with brotherhood. They face tests from the senior leaders in the association to know the extent of their commitment and their inner faith in what they are doing. H.H., the regretful one who tells the story, tries to put his finger on the mistake he made that led to the loss of the path, the caravan, and the ideas. He feels regret as he holds his notebook and tries to write about the journey to the East, worried that he might reveal a secret of the association that he swore to protect when he joined it.

In all of Hessa's stories, the speech is spiritual. The spirit speaks while the body is an instrument beyond the scope of description or speech, and in a poetic language that his readers choose. The listener in all his stories is thought, which has a special charm with which he tells and reaches us, stimulating the inner cells to think. On the banks of a river, while the letters jump to become shapes that branch out in the air high above, the ideas are struggling with the mind of the troubled musician, and he thinks and thinks and thinks... and so on.

He who travels far will often see things that are far removed from what he believed was Truth.

When he returns and talks about these experiences in the fields at home, he is often accused of lying.

This is because obdurate people will not believe what they do not see and distinctly feel.

They are so set in their ways and limited by their own lack of experience that they are unable to accept anything that challenges their preconceived notions.

Inexperience, I believe, will give little credence to my song.

People who have not ventured beyond their familiar surroundings are unlikely to understand the wonders and mysteries that lie beyond.

They will dismiss my words as mere fabrications, not realizing that the world is a vast and diverse place full of surprises.

But I will continue to sing my song, hoping that one day, others will open their minds and hearts to the possibilities that exist beyond their own limited perspectives.

Here is the truth. I really don't know what made the translator do something nice and fun like bringing back the tides - to the great Amado - to translate a dull and ordinary work like the journey to the east for Heise! It's truly a commendable invasion, I mean.

This situation is quite strange. How could a translator choose to translate such an unremarkable piece? Maybe there is some hidden reason or motivation. It makes one wonder what exactly was going through the translator's mind.

Perhaps the translator saw some potential in the work that others didn't. Or maybe it was a personal challenge for him to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary. Whatever the case may be, it's an interesting turn of events that has left many people scratching their heads.

All those things that I have been thinking about as nice and appealing until now and have sacrificed for them

have been nothing but my own favorite desires....

I have always chased after what I thought was beautiful and worthy, pouring all my efforts and sacrifices into them. But looking back now, I realize that perhaps these were just my own self-indulgent pursuits. Maybe I was so blinded by my own desires that I failed to see the true meaning and value behind them.

Could it be that I have been on the wrong path all along? Or is there still a glimmer of hope that I can find something more genuine and fulfilling? Only time will tell as I continue to reflect on my past and look towards the future.

Journey to the East is written from the perspective of a man named H.H. He becomes a member of an organization known as “The League,” which is a religious sect consisting of both famous fictional and real characters.

The journey begins smoothly, with the group of members being enthusiastic and happy. However, a crisis strikes at a mountain gorge called Morbio Inferiore. Leo, who seems to be just a servant, suddenly disappears. This disappearance leads the group into a crisis and ultimately causes it to break apart, with the members losing their belief in the league.

H.H. wanders around for years,陷入抑郁和失败感之中 until he encounters Leo again. Then, H.H. must face a trial and a test of his faith. The story serves as a Christian allegory, where H.H.'s faith is put to the test. It is a tale about failure, depression, hope, and ultimately, about what one believes in and how one wants to live.

It explores the human experience of doubt, loss, and the search for meaning. Through H.H.'s journey, we witness his struggles and his attempts to find his way back to a place of belief and purpose. The story reminds us that faith can be shaken, but it is also possible to find hope and renewal in the face of adversity.

Life-changing book, is a term I would never casually apply to just any book.

Books, on their own, don't possess the inherent power to bring about such profound changes. It is the reader who discovers something meaningful within the pages of a book and decides to turn that discovery into a life-altering experience.

The Journey To The East is a simply written book. The language is almost plain,

The journey is evenly punctuated by descriptions of life experiences that you can easily imagine yourself having written. It is a story of despair as much as it is a story of a forgotten goal, while always remaining a story about the various paths one encounters during a journey. And within these many intertwined stories, we come to know ourselves in a classic Hesse-ian style.

I had an additional personal interest in this book, which perhaps made it even more enjoyable for me. You may choose to deduct a star for that subjective aspect, but for me, it added an extra layer of depth and connection to the reading experience.

Hesse'nin çocuksu çoşkusu yazıklarını her türlü okunur kılıyor benim için sanırım.

His childlike enthusiasm makes all kinds of misfortunes readable for me, I think.

Hesse's works often touch on themes of human nature, suffering, and the search for meaning.

His writing style is both lyrical and profound, drawing the reader into a world of his own creation.

With his childlike enthusiasm, he is able to present even the most difficult and painful experiences in a way that is accessible and engaging.

It is this quality that makes his works so enduring and beloved by readers around the world.

Whether we are reading about his own personal struggles or the universal themes that he explores, we are always left with a sense of hope and inspiration.

Hesse's childlike enthusiasm is truly a gift, and it is one that we should all cherish and celebrate.
