I discovered this particular book and decided to give it a read simply because it was associated with the Clancy name. However, it wasn't until I had perused a few pages that I became aware that it was actually the work of another writer operating under the Clancy trademark. The writing style came as a bit of a shock to me.

I had the distinct feeling of being patronized by the author, especially in those instances where it seemed as if the character Fisher was constantly thinking to say something and then just blurting out exactly what he thought. The quality of the writing was rather poor, yet the adventure aspect managed to hold my attention and keep me reading.

If you have aspirations of writing (or perhaps blogging), then you might want to consider reading these books. They can serve as a valuable lesson in what not to do. Maybe David Michaels' books are targeted towards teenagers, but they are most definitely not for me. I think I'll stick with the original Clancy novels from now on.

The story was going great right up to the end.

However, it just kind of falls off a cliff at the very end. It ties everything up as quickly as possible, almost like a movie that suddenly ran out of money and had to wrap things up in a hurry.

This sudden and hasty conclusion does take away some of the impact and satisfaction that one might have expected.

Nevertheless, despite this flaw, it is still a worthwhile read.

The story has many interesting elements and keeps the reader engaged throughout most of its length.

It also serves as a good addition to the series, adding to the overall narrative and character development.

So, while the ending may be a bit of a letdown, the book as a whole is still值得一读 and can be enjoyed by fans of the series.

This was a rather stupid book.

I only read it because I was on holidays and it happened to be lying around in the hotel lobby.

Despite its stupidity and the difficulty in taking it seriously as an actual novel, I did find myself entertained by its easy pace and constant action.

There were numerous flaws. For instance, the characters were wooden, lacking in depth and authenticity.

The relationship between Sam Fisher and his gym instructor was outrightly and ridiculously laughable.

However, I can't deny that I did have some fun.

As I read, I tried to imagine every sequence as a mission in a video game.

This made the reading experience a bit more enjoyable and engaging for me.

Although the book had its shortcomings, it still managed to provide some entertainment value during my holiday.

It was not a great literary work, but it served its purpose of passing the time in a somewhat enjoyable way.

Overall, it was an average read that I wouldn't recommend to others unless they were specifically looking for something mindless and action-packed to read on their holidays.

Another page-turning Tom Clancy book

The Splinter Cell series, in my opinion, is truly captivating. The writing style employed within these books has a remarkable ability to paint a vivid picture. It is detailed to such an extent that it makes the reader feel as if they are an integral part of the action. Each scene is described with such precision that it allows the imagination to run wild. You can almost see the shadows in the dark alleys, hear the whispers of the agents, and feel the tension in the air. The author's attention to detail brings the story to life in a way that few other books can. It's not just a story; it's an immersive experience that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Whether you're a fan of action-packed thrillers or just looking for a great read, the Splinter Cell series is definitely worth checking out.

This second book is significantly better than the first one which was only given 2 stars.

There is a lot more action packed into this installment, making it a real page-turner.

The author appears to be more at ease in this book, which shows in the writing.

However, unfortunately, the silly deadpan delivery still remains.

One of the highlights of the book is the vehicle chase scene between the protagonist, Sam Fisher's limousine and an "Enemy Limo".

This scene was so intense and exciting that it had me laughing out loud and rolling in tears at the same time.

It was a great addition to the story and really added to the overall excitement and entertainment value of the book.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to fans of the series or anyone looking for an action-packed thriller.

I would fully recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Splinter Cell video game series. I managed to finish it within just 5 days, which is extremely fast for me. This clearly indicates that there was something very appealing about it. The book is indeed filled with non-stop action, which keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. However, I did notice that it seems to be written mainly for an American audience, as it is full of patriotic cliches. At times, the quotes can get a bit cheesy, especially when they are not related to the pro-American propaganda. Additionally, the descriptions can sometimes be long and rather boring. But despite these minor flaws, I still found the book overall to be quite enjoyable.

I really liked the book.

It made me understand that all leadership roles within government entities are assigned specific areas or aspects to oversee and manage.

I could easily relate to the territorial leadership maneuvering that was vividly portrayed in the book.

The author did an outstanding job of creating a palpable tension between leadership and execution.

Moreover, the author was able to巧妙地 apply some good old fashioned luck to generate a story that was not only high in tension but also full of action.

Despite the numerous challenges and obstacles presented in the story, it managed to have a positive ending, which was truly satisfying.

This book not only entertained me but also provided valuable insights into the complex world of leadership and management within government entities.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in these topics or simply looking for an engaging and thought-provoking read.

The second installment in the Splinter Cell book series is truly a remarkable addition.

It serves as a follow-up to the first book, continuing the thrilling adventures of Splinter Cell Sam Fisher.

In this installment, Fisher once again finds himself pitted against the menacing terrorist organization known as The Shop.

The Shop has once again devised a deadly world threat that Fisher must race against time to stop.

The book is filled with non-stop action and excitement, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

I have to admit that I enjoy the books in this series just as much as the games.

The authors have done an excellent job of bringing the world of Splinter Cell to life on the printed page, capturing the essence and intensity of the games while also adding their own unique touches.

If you're a fan of the Splinter Cell games or just enjoy a good action-packed thriller, then this book is definitely worth checking out.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Operation Barracuda" by Tom Clancy. The book is an absolute thrill ride, filled with non-stop action and an array of high-tech gadgets. It can be best described as a late 90's James Bond movie, offering a great deal of entertainment, albeit with a somewhat predictable plot. Tom Clancy did an outstanding job of keeping the story engaging and constantly keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. While you might have a general idea of what is going to happen, it is the way in which it unfolds that compels you to keep reading.

The story revolves around Sam Fisher, a secret agent who works for Third Echelon, a covert branch of the National Security Agency. Sam is tasked with tracking down the leaders of an arms dealing company called The Shop. The Shop has been involved in shipping the components of a nuclear bomb to a gang in Hong Kong. It is up to Sam to stop this gang and prevent World War III. If he fails, the nuclear bomb will be fired at Taiwan.

Sam Fisher is a complex and interesting character. He is in his late forties, the oldest but also the most reliable agent in the group. He has one daughter, and his wife passed away from cancer a long time ago. Due to his constant travels, his personal life is rather sparse. However, he does end up meeting a martial arts instructor named Katia, and they begin a relationship in the second half of the book, which is the first time we see Sam in a vulnerable state.
The story is set in modern times, with no significant differences from our current world. Sam lives in New York but travels to Hong Kong and then to LA during the course of the story. The book delves into the underbelly of big cities, where companies are set up to hide The Shop's illegal dealings.
The main theme of the book is the age-old battle between good and evil, with the emphasis on the fact that there are always consequences for one's actions. I would recommend "Operation Barracuda" to readers in eighth grade and above, as some of the subject matter can be quite complex and difficult to follow. Additionally, the book jumps around between characters, which can make it a bit challenging to keep track of who is who. Overall, it is an exciting and engaging read that will appeal to fans of action and espionage.

I'm awarding this book the identical 3-star review as the initial book in the series.

It is advisable for only the enthusiasts of the Splinter Cell games.

This book became exasperating on occasions.

The author persistently utilized the same jargon repeatedly, which we had already encountered in the first book.

The plotline carried on from the first book, yet it was nowhere near as captivating.

You don't obtain the same badass Sam Fisher as you do in the first book or in the video games.

The story seemed to lack the excitement and edge that made the games and the first book so engaging.

It felt a bit stale and predictable at times.

However, if you are a die-hard fan of the Splinter Cell franchise, you might still find some enjoyment in this book, but don't expect it to be on the same level as the games or the first installment of the series.

Overall, it's an average read that could have been better with a more original approach and a more engaging storyline.
