I am truly relishing the Splinter Cell series. I have delved into several of the games, yet the books themselves offer a distinct pleasure. One doesn't necessarily have to be acquainted with the games to take delight in the novels.
This particular installment presented a rather uncomplicated narrative of a secret agent pitted against terrorists, with a smattering of unexpected twists. However, I couldn't help but notice that the entire "doomed romance" subplot felt clichéd and overused. In my opinion, the story would have been far more engaging had that aspect been omitted.
All in all, it makes for a good action/adventure read, and I am eager to progress to the next volume.
