I just can't take this woman seriously.

I like that she's easygoing and truly cares about her charges. She's also thoughtful about her life. And it's refreshing that she's not down on men or relationships after her marriage failed. That's such a common cliché.

However, her justifications for her original lie are extremely weak. And the fact that she continued the ruse after the initial dinner completely undermines her good intentions and "just a lark" excuse. At this point, it's a rather serious fraud. And the fact that she likes Bill makes it even worse. It's as if she suddenly got hit with the stupid-stick. She went from being a "mostly-reasonable woman doing her best to get by" to a "comedy caricature the author is manipulating for laughs".

The really weak foreshadowing with little Fischer Levin's talk of his father's pirate treasure (which will obviously be part of the "mystery" that comes up later in the book) only reinforces the impression that Heller is having a bit of fun and not taking things very seriously. So, I'm going to call it quits and move on to something a little less awkward.

Although, it is interesting to visit that strange time in the past when phone numbers were associated with places instead of people. How odd is that?!?

Until the end, the plot was a bit predictable. This made it a little less exciting for the viewers. They could more or less guess what was going to happen next.

Another unfortunate aspect was the character who talked about marriage on the first date. This seemed rather odd and out of place. It might have made the other characters and the audience feel uncomfortable.

Overall, despite these flaws, the movie still had some good moments and was worth watching to a certain extent. However, it could have been better if the plot was more unpredictable and the character's behavior was more in line with what is expected on a first date.

There are many mixed-up packages, phone calls, deliveries, and mail. However, the most significant mix-up of all occurs when Nancy Stern, the journalist to the stars, is found murdered in her apartment. It soon becomes evident that the intended victim was actually the other Nancy Stern. Now, this other Nancy must attempt to thwart a group of jewel thieves connected to one of her pre-school students while simultaneously trying to keep herself out of harm's way.

Maybe I'm just not a die-hard Jane Heller fanatic, but I didn't fall head over heels in love with this book as many other reviewers have. While Heller does possess a light and breezy writing style, this book was a bit too saccharine and cutesy for my personal taste. In a mystery novel, even a chick-lit mystery, there should be at least some semblance of credibility, and this novel had very little, if any. However, on the positive side, Heller's style makes her books quick and effortless to read, which is great for a lazy day of lounging by the poolside.

Overall, while the book had its flaws, it still had some redeeming qualities that could make it an enjoyable read for some.
