The movie adaptation was also very funny. It managed to capture the essence of the book and bring it to life on the big screen. The actors did a great job of portraying the characters and their self-deprecating humor.

Whether you prefer to read the book or watch the movie, you're in for a treat. Both offer a lighthearted and entertaining escape from reality. So, go ahead and give in to the laughter. Let the self-deprecators of the world bring a smile to your face.

The book presents a story that is quite similar to that of the movie. However, it also delves deeper into certain aspects of Howard's life by including additional details.

For instance, it features hate mail that Howard received, which provides a unique perspective on the kind of reactions his show elicited.

Moreover, the book includes pictures that offer a visual representation of various moments in Howard's life and career.

In addition to that, it incorporates other people's insights on Howard's show. These insights add another layer of depth to the narrative, allowing readers to understand how others perceived and experienced his work.

Overall, the book offers a more comprehensive and detailed look at Howard's life and show compared to the movie, making it a valuable read for those who are interested in learning more about him.

I, like many of my peers, became a Stern Show fan in the mid/late-90s during my adolescence. “Private Parts” was released in 1993, which was a little before my time. I am a huge Stern Show fan, but when it comes to Stern himself, I am at best lukewarm. The homophobia, arrogance, and flirting with racism in “Private Parts” are all accessories to the main problem of Stern being, at best, unfunny and, at worst, annoying. These issues don't just show through in the book; they are blinding.

I considered this book required reading as a Stern Show fan, and I also thoroughly enjoyed Bababooey and Artie Lange’s books. However, “Private Parts” is a slog. The autobiographical passages are entertaining and interesting, but the rest of the book is garbage. Stern has admitted that in the early days, he would say anything to keep his listeners tuned in and boost ratings. This worked on the air for decades, but in book form, it just doesn't translate. I would have had more respect for him if he had simply printed the word “boobs” over and over for 100 pages and omitted the boring interviews with lesbians. For example, he devotes an entire chapter to “why I dislike the French,” spouting outdated and corny frog and “we saved your ass in WW2” jokes. On the air, this might have angered someone into listening for an hour, but in a book, it's just tedious.

The Stern Show is at its best when the bits can breathe and when Stern plays the straight man to his curated world of Wack Packers and fringe characters. This is why the show worked so well on satellite for so long. He could negotiate with Eric the Actor for 45 minutes without interruption. In the era of “Private Parts,” the show had to be punchy and rapid-fire to please advertisers and fit within station breaks. The book follows this pattern. Lesbians! Boobs! Howard was very subversive in many ways, but when it came to sex, he was always a child.

Also, as has been said many times before, Stern’s disengaging interview style is brilliant and basically predated and predicted the way Americans currently consume celebrities. There is some of this in “Private Parts,” but it's a mixed bag. For every Donald Trump or Joan Rivers, there's a bit about Jackie Stallone or Enuff Z'Nuff. Most of the book is his “hot take” on celebrities that have considerably cooled since 1993.

“Private Parts” (at least in 2018) fails to accomplish any of what Stern’s show does when it's firing on all cylinders. I wasn't hanging on to every word, I wasn't engaged, and I wasn't entertained. I was bored. “Private Parts” is conclusive proof that Howard isn't much without his supporting cast of characters and writers. He's a brilliant curator, interviewer, and provocateur, but the man himself is only marginally interesting. I am a die-hard Stern Show fan who felt obligated to read this book. Don't make the same mistake. Bababooey’s book is better; at least it's honest.

The birth of a raunchy radio host who pushed the envelope of morning radio with his perverse sense of humour was a remarkable journey.

He started off as a gawky and awkward kid, but he had a face that was perfect for radio. His unique charm and sense of humour gradually emerged, and he began to make a name for himself in the radio industry.

Over time, he blossomed into a radio personality legend. His shows were known for their edgy content and controversial topics, which吸引了大批听众. He was not afraid to take risks and push the boundaries of what was considered acceptable on the airwaves.

Despite facing criticism and backlash from some, he remained true to himself and his style. His popularity continued to grow, and he became one of the most influential and well-known radio hosts of his time.

His story serves as an inspiration to those who dare to be different and follow their dreams, no matter how unconventional they may seem.

The funniest and most erotic experience I've ever had with a book is truly remarkable. If you've read it, you'll know precisely what I'm referring to. It was uproariously hilarious, outrageously obscene, and extremely kinky to the extent that, for goodness sake, I wanted to have sex with it, literally!! I'll elaborate on that later.

I never would have imagined that I would come to like this book so much. I randomly picked it up at a bookstore. I vividly remember when I first laid eyes on it; I didn't think it was going to be anything special. However, it turned out to be by far the funniest piece of writing I've ever read, and I'm a huge fan of comedy. The reason I know the book is fantastic is that I couldn't put it down until I finished reading it. Plus, I broke a personal record. It's the first time I've completed a 600-page book in just 4 days. It was truly the most enjoyable experience I've had with a book. I probably seemed a bit crazy giggling and smirking in front of people passing by, but I loved it!

First of all, I knew absolutely nothing about Howard Stern before reading this book. I had only seen him as a judge on America's Got Talent. I knew basically nothing about the guy. He just seemed like a freakishly tall, scrawny old creep who showed up on TV looking like the overly confident big shot that he is. But what's strange is that now I completely admire the guy. I admire his determination, his ambition, and his perseverance. Without these qualities, he wouldn't be the person he is today. He is a force of nature who never backs down from anything and lets nothing stand in his way. That's mostly what I loved about him. His ability to never kowtow to anyone and always come out victorious from the difficult situations he has endured is truly inspiring. Given his long-lasting success, I've always wondered why I haven't heard of him until now. I mean, he is truly the king of all media, for crying out loud! But then it dawned on me; I'm not American, which means there's no way I can access his radio show. Moreover, he has been achieving great success mostly in the seventies, eighties, and nineties, during which I didn't even exist. The book was released one year after I was born. Do the math... or not. It doesn't really matter. The point is that he is a paragon of how a person should pursue their goals and dreams in life.

The book was so good that it motivated me to listen to his radio show and actually watch old YouTube videos of him, Arsenio Hall, Jay Leno, and David Letterman, which I did. His struggles with tyrannical companies, his difficult childhood, and his self-esteem issues at school truly teach one a valuable lesson. That no matter what your circumstances are, if you set your mind on something and always maintain a positive attitude, you'll eventually achieve it. I mean, here you have a guy who really started from the bottom and is now on top of the world, living in a large mansion and laughing at all the people who mistreated him. Success is indeed the best revenge! I want to be like him and experience how it feels! I'm really rooting for this guy, despite the vulgar and aggressive language that comes out of his mouth. He has the courage and胆量 to say anything to anyone, and I like that! He doesn't deceive anyone and tells it like it is. That's a trait worth emulating!

He mentioned in the book that guys masturbate to his radio show. Well, to be honest, who can blame them? I masturbated when I read those damn lines, and you know what, I'm not ashamed of it either! I wonder what I'll do if I listen to his radio show. Semen will probably ooze out of the headphones!! I mean, goodness! The level of erotica and graphicness in his descriptions and depictions was off the charts. It's like listening to radio porn. How can you not be aroused when reading the book or listening to his show? The whole time I was reading the book, my pants were on the verge of bursting. I was walking or sitting around with a huge erection in my pants. It looked like I was looking at some Playboy magazines. You just can't get enough of those lesbian stories!! I understand why he loves them so much. And the part where he talked about Jessica Hahn... Oh my! I feel for him. How he remained loyal to his wife Alison all those years seems a bit suspicious to me, but kudos to him for that.

The book is really one of the best books I've ever read, which is strange because normally I'm more of a thriller book enthusiast. It exceeded my expectations and taught me so many things, like discovering new things to masturbate to ;).

Hate him or love him, this book is an absolute blast to read.

It provides the reader with a unique opportunity to delve into Stern's mind to some extent. One can begin to understand what makes him so driven and passionate.

Moreover, the book delves into the details of his journey. It shows how he started off as a seemingly unremarkable individual, a lame duck going nowhere. But then, through his own efforts and determination, he managed to rapidly build himself up into one of the most popular radio talk show personalities.

However, it's worth noting that the way he goes on about his wife at the time now seems somewhat irrelevant. After all, they divorced a few years ago. Nevertheless, this book remains a captivating read that offers valuable insights into the life and career of Howard Stern.

I discovered this used book in a record store when my boyfriend was looking through the records. Time passed quickly, and before I knew it, I had read 50 pages and decided to take it home.

The Howard Stern show has been a great addition to our road trip. I have a vague memory of how controversial he was, but in recent years, I have really enjoyed his show.

So, with this book, I was able to learn more about his backstory and what I missed in the 80s and early 90s. Written in exactly Stern's voice and humor, this book was an easy read. However, the chapter on the Power of Negative Thinking was a bit challenging for me. I'm not sure if I would have liked his show back then, but I'm glad I found him now. He is a brilliant interviewer and entertainer.

I did this all out of order.

The first time I'd ever heard of Howard Stern was in 1997 when I saw the film version of Private Parts with some friends who were fans.

Soon after Miss America was published, I read it, again not knowing much about Howard.

Fast forward to 2010, and I'm now a Sirius radio subscriber and a daily listener of Howard's show.

Because of this, I thought it was about time I finally sat down and read Howard's great literary achievement.

I liked Miss America a lot better than Private Parts.

I enjoyed the first half of the book when Howard talked about his family and breaking into the radio business.

I love hearing stories about Howard's parents, and reading about them was just as entertaining.

I wish he'd incorporated more of his family life, even with his first wife Alison, into the book.

He does do more of this in Miss America, so perhaps it was done on purpose for the second book.

But I do wish he'd included more stories about his personal life after he got married.

The rest of the book suffers from being outdated, which isn't Howard's fault and doesn't reflect on the actual writing.

Unfortunately, it was clearly meant to be read when it was published almost 20 years ago.

Howard's opinion on several celebrities he mentions has now completely changed.

For example, Jay Leno was praised in Private Parts as a nice guy, but Howard recently trashed him publicly for how he handled himself when Conan O'Brien took over the Tonight Show.

Howard also addresses 1993 news stories and issues that are hard to understand in 2010.

What I found most interesting was that if I'd been a listener when Private Parts was first published, I probably wouldn't have been as big a fan of Howard.

He describes a lot of juvenile schtick that seems beneath him in 2010.

I understand that the schtick is how he built his name and reputation, but I much prefer the mellower Howard of today.

Given the choice between Butt Bongo Fiesta and Win Sal's Money, I'd choose Sal in a second.

The 90s were deranged.

It was a decade filled with a unique blend of chaos and creativity. The world was changing at an unprecedented pace, with the rise of the internet and new technologies.

People were experimenting with different styles of music, fashion, and art. Grunge music was all the rage, with bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam leading the way.

Fashion was equally eclectic, with trends like flannel shirts, baggy jeans, and platform shoes.

The 90s also saw the emergence of a new generation of filmmakers and artists, who were pushing the boundaries of what was possible.

Overall, the 90s was a decade that defied categorization and will always be remembered for its wild and crazy spirit.

I saw the movie and it was truly amazing! I absolutely loved it. Now, I have finally been given the opportunity to read the book.

The book contains the rather gross parts of Howard Stern, which might shock some readers at first. However, it also showcases the incredibly insightful mind of Howard Stern.

As you read through the book, you will gradually learn to appreciate him in a whole new way. What's interesting is that there are quotes from famous people throughout the book in the margins.

One of them, when paraphrased, said, "Howard Stern has the courage to say what he thinks, and sometimes, he even manages to say what you're thinking."

This book is not only thought-provoking but also very funny. It keeps you engaged from start to finish with its unique blend of humor and deep insights.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Howard Stern or simply enjoys a good read that challenges their perspective.

I find myself at odds with some of my fellow reviewers here.

One of them has rightly criticized the book for lacking sufficient insight. Others object to it because Stern comes across as self-absorbed, immature, lascivious, smutty, and goodness knows what else.

But let's face it, this is Howard Stern's biography, for crying out loud! What on earth were you expecting?

Of course the book is shallow, cruel, self-absorbed, immature, and smutty. But it's also brutally funny and full-frontally irreverent.

To those fellow reviewers I alluded to in the first paragraph, I'm actually glad you were offended or disappointed. I almost wish you'd meet Howie and he'd look down your blouse. Or your hot daughter's.

Because that's the kind of persona Howard Stern is known for, and this biography simply reflects that. It's not trying to be a deep, profound work of literature. It's a raw and unfiltered look at the life and times of a controversial figure.

So instead of criticizing it for not being something it's not, perhaps we should embrace it for what it is: a wild ride through the mind of Howard Stern.
