About the author

Howard Stern is an American radio host, humorist and media mogul. Stern hosts The Howard Stern Show four days a week (Monday–Thursday) on Howard 100, a Sirius Satellite Radio station.

The self-proclaimed "King of All Media" has been dubbed a shock jock for his highly controversial use of scatological, sexual, and racial humor. Stern has said that the show was never about shocking people, but primarily intended to offer his honest opinions on a gamut of issues (ranging from world affairs to problems among his own staff). Though controversial, he is the highest-paid radio personality in the United States and the most fined personality in radio broadcast history.

He is best known for his national radio show, which for many years was syndicated on FM radio stations (and a few AM stations) throughout the United States until his last terrestrial radio broadcast on December 16, 2005. He began broadcasting on the subscription-based Sirius satellite radio service on January 9, 2006.

In addition to radio, Stern moved into publishing, television, feature films, and music. He has written two books, Private Parts, which he adapted into a film, and Miss America. Stern's television endeavors include a variety show on New York City's WWOR-TV, a nightly E! show documenting his radio broadcasts, a similar CBS program that competed with Saturday Night Live for a time, "Howard On-Demand" for digital cable subscribers in various markets, and Son of the Beach, a parody of Baywatch for FX which Stern executive produced.

In 2006, Howard Stern was elected into Time Magazine's "Time 100: The People who shape our world" and was ranked #7 in Forbes Magazine's 2006 annual Celebrity 100. On February 13, 2007, Stern became engaged to his long-time girlfriend, model Beth Ostrosky.

I really enjoyed the sections that detailed his early life. It was fascinating to learn about how he got into the world of radio and the antics that led to him annoying his bosses.

Although I never tuned in to his show, I was drawn to him as a judge on AGT. That's precisely why I decided to pick up and read this book.

However, there were some aspects from the show that I didn't find particularly humorous. In fact, I thought certain elements were rather repetitive and didn't hold my interest as much as I had hoped.

Overall, while the book had its interesting moments, there were also some areas that could have been improved upon to make it a more engaging read.

Perhaps if the author had focused more on unique and diverse stories from his life and career, it would have made for a more captivating and enjoyable book.

Nonetheless, I'm still glad I took the time to read it and learn more about this well-known personality.

Sadly, his divorce makes this book obsolete.

However, on the night it hit the shelves, I was unable to resist the allure and stayed up reading my generous friend's copy. At that time, I simply couldn't afford to buy my own.

The format of this book was truly groundbreaking. It has been replicated several times since then. The creative use of fonts and photos gives the same spontaneous feel as his show.

The King of All Media reigned supreme on the bestseller lists when he released this masterpiece in the early '90s. His influence was undeniable, and this book became a symbol of his success and creativity.

Although his personal life took a turn for the worse, the impact of this book on the literary world cannot be ignored. It will always be remembered as a classic example of innovative writing and design.

You either like this guy or you don't.

Even he describes himself as obsessive-compulsive, and no one will argue with that.

He insists that others submit to his ways, using any and all tactics of verbal persuasion.

From charm and ingratiation, to inducing sympathy, to persistent begging and complaining of unfair treatment.

When these methods fail, he resorts to bullying tactics, including public humiliation and denigration.

A few parts of this book made me laugh out loud.

This guy really has an imagination.

It's quite interesting to see how he goes about getting what he wants.

The various tactics he employs are both comical and a bit concerning.

On one hand, it's entertaining to read about his extreme measures.

On the other hand, it makes you wonder about the real people out there who might act in a similar way.

Overall, this book provides an engaging look into the mind of this rather unique character.

I've been an unwavering Stern fan since my early teenage years. Back then, I tried to impress my older brother by finding Stern funny, and eventually, I truly did. Recently, during a brief and glorious two-month free trial of Sirius, I hadn't listened to him in his satellite era. However, that fleeting reunion made me vividly remember how much I like him. I came across this book at a thrift shop and thought it was worth a few bucks.

To my surprise, it captures Stern's voice perfectly. I had no expectations regarding the prose. It always amazes me how the average person can speak extremely articulately but be completely unable to write. Even the greatest entertainers usually pen insipid autobiographies. But this book is written in Stern's exact voice. Whether the credit should go to Stern or the writer who assisted him, I can't say. From the acknowledgments, it's clear that Stern initially assumed he could just hire someone to write the book for him. But Larry "Ratso" Sloman informed him otherwise.

The book is like listening to a great episode of the show, filled with his neuroses, sexual obsessions, self-deprecation, fantastic embellishments, and attention to bizarre details. For example, on page 50, he describes how his overprotective mother made him a target for every bully in the neighborhood. A fat kid named Johnny, who had some rather unhygienic habits, used to beat him up regularly. His parents then made him go to judo school to learn self-defense. On the day of his first lesson, he scrubbed his feet thoroughly. But when he took off his shoes and socks, the Korean instructor freaked out at the sight of his toenails.

The next paragraph details how this kind of experience led him to do drugs and buy pot from a friend's older brother, who had some rather strange and disgusting habits himself. The guy would be lying naked on his bed like a beached whale, wearing a sombrero, reading Penthouse, and playing with himself. It was truly a revolting experience. Stern is truly one of a kind.

Howard is truly raunchy, just as one would anticipate.

He is the very embodiment of an entertainer, skillfully employing his past in a self-deprecating and demoralizing manner to assail the human soul.

He has rightfully earned the title of the King of all Media. His shows are filled with bold and often controversial content that keeps his audience hooked.

Whether it's his crude jokes, his frank discussions about personal experiences, or his unapologetic approach to entertainment, Howard knows how to push the boundaries and make an impact.

Love him or hate him, there's no denying that he has left an indelible mark on the world of media and entertainment.

Howard Stern is indeed,

The King of All Media, and this book serves as a testament to his remarkable status.

Since the early 2000's, he has mellowed out in a considerate manner. He has already achieved so much that he feels there is nothing left to prove, and this newfound tranquility is evident in his interviews on his SIRIUS radio show.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Howard Stern is brutally honest about his life, leaving no stone unturned. And we, his loyal fans, wouldn't have it any other way. His unwavering authenticity is what makes him so captivating.

"How about that Howard Stern?" he exclaims, and with good reason. This book offers a unique and unfiltered glimpse into the mind and life of one of the most influential media personalities of our time.

It's a must-read for anyone who wants to truly understand the man behind the microphone and the legend that he has become.

I need to issue a warning to you all. If you're not a devotee of The King of all Media, it's advisable to stay away. I adored this book, but I'm well aware that it's because I'm a die-hard Super fan. I firmly believe that only a dedicated Stern listener will be able to fully comprehend the numerous references and dedications within this book. It was truly fascinating to uncover the details of how Howard Stern embarked on his journey and the arduous path he had to traverse to ascend to the throne of being the King! Moreover, learning about how he met his wife Allison, as well as Robin and Fred, added an extra layer of intrigue. I was completely engrossed throughout. Although there were some rants that I could have done without, but then again, it's Howard Stern, and that's part of his charm. They even went so far as to make a movie based on this book (which I also highly recommend). So, if you have a deep affection for Howard, Gary, Fred, Robin, Jackie, and the entire Stern gang, then what on earth are you waiting for?! Bababooey to each and every one of you! And F Jackie!
