Good in principle.

It has some extremely good aspects, as well as certain elements that are not entirely correct. I had also been hoping for more traditional Hebrew recipes, such as challah bread or the like. However, I suppose that would be more along the lines of "What DID Jesus Eat" rather than what was.

I believe that if the average person were to change their eating habits based on this book, their health would improve significantly. Nevertheless, there are numerous things about it that irritated me.

The author's approach was to discuss how Jews in those days ate, taking into account the law of Moses and what was accessible to them, and providing recipes based on this principle. However, he would talk about the harmful effects of sugar and then include recipes with a substantial amount of sugar. In the desserts section, he claims that fresh fruit makes a great dessert and that your taste buds can adapt to consuming it instead of regularly indulging in sugary desserts. Yet, his recipe for fruit salad contains a cup of sugar.

He also mentions not using processed items, but then includes creamed style canned corn (which is not only highly processed but also abhorrent to anyone who has had genuine creamed corn) as an ingredient in a recipe.

He talks about the numerous health benefits of barley and how the Jews used to make bread from it and consume it frequently, but then he has no recipe for barley bread.

His recipe for Ezekiel bread contains soy flour...definitely not one of the things described in Ezekiel. I will seek a different recipe for that.

He is clearly of the old school of "low fat" thinking. He asserts that he doesn't believe Jews back then drank milk (when in fact they did), and he recommends drinking skim milk or eating skim milk cheese, which is far from what they did! He also states that they used to even drink olive oil, but then, due to his low fat beliefs, he says you have to severely limit it and avoid butter (which is not in accordance with the Bible either).

He says to limit nuts but doesn't provide a reason. I have heard various schools of thought regarding nuts, but I suspect his reasoning is related to the fat content.

So far, I have attempted a couple of the recipes and they turned out okay - not outstanding. However, I do intend to try many more, and overall, I enjoyed the book and learned a great deal about health and nutrition that I was previously unaware of.

This is a very noble book. It contains many good ideas. However, it seems that it is just impossible to stick to them.

For example, who can eat fish all the time? It might be a healthy choice, but it's not very practical in the long run.

Anyway, despite this, the book still has some good suggestions for healthy eating all the same. It might inspire readers to make some positive changes in their diet.

Maybe we can't follow all the ideas in the book exactly, but we can pick out the ones that suit us and try to incorporate them into our daily lives.

In conclusion, although the book has its limitations, it is still worth reading for those who are interested in healthy eating.

I utilized this book as a reference for a university paper.

During the process of researching and writing my paper, I delved into the contents of this book.

To my surprise, I discovered that it was not only a valuable source of information for my academic work but also extremely interesting.

The ideas and concepts presented in the book were engaging and thought-provoking.

I found myself reading beyond what was necessary for my paper, simply because I was captivated by the subject matter.

As a result, I decided to keep the book.

It has become a cherished addition to my personal library, and I look forward to referring to it again in the future for both academic and personal pursuits.

I believe that this book will continue to provide me with valuable insights and knowledge, and I am grateful to have come across it.

Wow!

I feel as if I've just participated in a week-long seminar on excellent nutrition. This book truly does what the synopsis claims it will. I purchased the book because I'm attempting to address the health issues that many of us in the USA, including my husband, face. I also firmly believe that a significant portion of our regular diet is carcinogenic.

You don't have to be a Christian to read this book and extract all the wisdom from it. (Although I highly suggest that you become one!) I also discovered some things that made my stomach turn, such as details about the slaughterhouses where cattle are taken for butchering, farm-raised fish, swine and their eating habits, and the way chickens are raised. All I can say is BLEAH and those poor cows.

The book is filled to the brim with great information and is an easy read, unlike many other books on nutrition. I bought mine at Half-Price Books. I'm delighted to have my own copy. I'll be reading it frequently and using it as a reference. It also validates that The Mediterranean Diet, which was so popular a few years ago, is spot-on, but this book is much more accessible to the average person.

Happy healthy eating to you!

Great Advice - An Easy-to-Follow Lifestyle without Sacrificing a Food Group

I truly appreciate how straightforward and uncomplicated the dietary modifications are to adhere to. It mainly revolves around the principles of eating sensibly and in moderation. What I particularly like is that one doesn't have to completely abandon a specific food group. I firmly believe that a significant number of the suggestions put forward make perfect sense. However, if one's goal is weight loss, it might be necessary to reduce the intake of some extra carbs. This approach allows for a more sustainable and enjoyable way of life, as it doesn't impose overly restrictive measures. By following these guidelines, individuals can maintain a balanced diet while still being able to enjoy the foods they love.

A truly fascinating book has been penned by a medical doctor with a specialization in nutrition. This book offers a wealth of knowledge and insights into the world of nutrition. However, here comes a little warning. If you have a penchant for shrimp or lobster, then you might want to think twice before delving into this book.

The reason behind this warning is that the author presents some rather interesting and perhaps even eye-opening information about these particular seafood delicacies. It could potentially change your perception and enjoyment of them. But don't let this deter you entirely. The book as a whole is filled with valuable information that can help you make more informed decisions about your diet and overall health.

Whether you're a health enthusiast or simply someone who wants to learn more about the impact of food on our well-being, this book is definitely worth a read. Just be prepared for a few surprises along the way!

This is an amazing book that motivates one to think about what one eats, review one's diet, and switch to a healthy (Mediterranean) one.

It is interesting to read not just speculations but a book written by a doctor, where it is explained what Jesus could have eaten 2000 years ago; why God forbade eating certain foods and allowed others. Among Christians, the question always arises whether to eat pork and why some animals are considered clean and others not. Well, here Don Colbert explains everything accessibly and interestingly. Everything falls into place. And he also shows examples of the food pyramid, gives advice on how much of what to consume and which products are and what they are beneficial for!

Unfortunately, all the statistics pertain to America, but these figures are also interesting.

I was looking for motivation for healthy eating, and it seems I have found it thanks to this book.

Many people would be shocked by the things that Jesus actually ate.

This is mainly because the lifestyle we lead, the things we do, and the foods we consume are truly nothing like what the world's Holiest Man ever did.

We all often say the cliché "What would Jesus Do?" Well, this book provides great insights into some of the things that Jesus did and the type of foods that He ate.

By reading this book, we can all learn a great deal about healthier living and eating.

It offers a unique perspective on how Jesus interacted with food and how that can inspire us to make better choices in our own lives.

Perhaps we can start to incorporate some of the principles and practices that Jesus followed into our daily routines and see the positive impact it has on our well-being.

After all, if Jesus, the Son of God, had a particular way of eating and living, there must be something valuable for us to learn from it.

This book serves as a guide and a source of inspiration for those who are seeking to live a more Christ-like life in all aspects, including our diet and lifestyle.

There are indeed specific reasons why "biblical food" was advised by God, and also why some food was not recommended to be eaten. The religious teachings and dietary guidelines in the Bible have been the subject of much study and interpretation over the years. However, in modern times, people have different perspectives and choices when it comes to food. While some may strictly adhere to the biblical food rules, others may have their own preferences and desires. For example, I, for one, would still very much like to eat my shrimp, squid, and clams. These are delicious and nutritious seafood options that I enjoy. Although they may not be in line with the traditional biblical food recommendations, I believe in making my own decisions about what I consume based on my personal taste and dietary needs.

I think this is just one of many books that are directing socially health conscious members toward a healthy and happy life. It starts with what goes within the "temple" body.

It delves into the types of meats, fats, other proteins, veggies, beverages, and even desserts that Jesus ate. This provides valuable insights into a balanced diet.

I had no idea that water is considered the most important nutrient for the human body. It is essential for maintaining proper bodily functions.

I believe Yoga is perfect for the mind, body, and soul. It helps to improve flexibility, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

I also believe that putting the correct (good) food and fuel in our body allows it to run longer and more effectively. This is about the quality of life, not the quantity of food. We should focus on consuming nutritious foods that provide the necessary energy and nutrients for our bodies to thrive.
