I came across this book several years ago when a friend urged me to read it. To be honest, I don't recall much about it except for the thought that "this is a blatant distortion of Scripture." I also remember with a hint of regret wondering if he would bring up Acts 10, as he seemed very much like a Jewish disciple.

The fact that Jesus passed away at around the age of 33 and the relatively short life expectancy of his followers doesn't seem to dawn on the author that God might have had other purposes in mind rather than catering to the diet preferences of self-centered modern Americans. It also doesn't seem to occur to him that there are already numerous books written about the Jewish kosher diet, both its advantages (which he is eager to discuss) and its disadvantages (unsurprisingly, overlooked). However, this doesn't prevent the publisher or the author from promoting this so-called "Jesus junk."

I would strongly advise against purchasing this book. If your curiosity gets the better of you, or if you have a somewhat errant yet sincere friend, do yourself a favor and borrow it from the library instead.

The main part of the book was extremely informative. It was truly interesting to discover how some of our staple foods are produced. However, at times, I found myself growing a little weary of such scientific explanations. This is perhaps because I already have the habit of not consuming those particular foods. Nevertheless, if you have an interest in such matters, it would be a great read for you!

But without a doubt, the back of the book, which contains a plethora of recipes and full days' meal ideas, is more than worth the price of the book itself! It's like having a treasure trove of delicious and nutritious meal options right at your fingertips.

Please don't be scared off by the title - this book is too full of useful information to pass up on that account.

The diet proposed in the book is based on a practicing doctor's extensive experience with nutrition and solid science. He doesn't truly suggest adhering strictly to what Jesus ate, definitely not for religious motives.

He is a proponent of soybeans, even though he admits that Jesus never consumed any. He simply employs the Bible texts as an entertaining means to organize sound dietary guidance for anyone, be they Christian, Jewish, or pagan.

This approach makes the book accessible and engaging for a wide range of readers. It offers practical advice on how to eat healthily, while also adding an interesting twist with the use of religious references.

Whether you're looking to improve your diet for health reasons or simply interested in learning more about different dietary approaches, this book has something to offer. So don't let the title deter you - give it a chance and discover the wealth of information it contains.

This book truly brought to my mind his other remarkable works such as "Bible Cure" and "Seven...".

Each of these books has its own unique charm and offers valuable insights. "Bible Cure" delves deep into the power of the Bible in providing spiritual and physical healing. It explores various aspects of life and shows how the teachings of the Bible can be applied to overcome different challenges.

Similarly, "Seven..." presents a different perspective and perhaps offers a set of principles or ideas that are equally thought-provoking.

These books, including the one that I was reminded of, have the ability to engage readers and make them reflect on their own lives. They serve as a source of inspiration and guidance, helping us to grow and learn.

I am grateful for the author's ability to create such impactful works that continue to resonate with readers long after they have finished reading.

Reading a book on tape can be a convenient way to consume literature. However, it may not always be worth re-reading. When listening to a book on tape, we rely on the narrator's interpretation and pacing. This can sometimes limit our own understanding and connection with the story. Additionally, the experience of listening is different from reading silently. We may not be able to fully immerse ourselves in the text or notice the finer details. While a book on tape can be a great option for multitasking or for those who have difficulty reading, it may not offer the same depth and richness as a traditional book. Therefore, when considering whether to re-read a book on tape, it's important to weigh the pros and cons and decide if it's truly worth the investment of time and energy.

Cheesy cliche title? Who cares.

I found this to be an extremely interesting exploration of food history, nutrition, and health.

Ever since I discovered that Greeks, Italians, and others in the Mediterranean region have significantly lower rates of cancer and heart disease, I have been deeply intrigued by the Mediterranean diet.

Colbert modifies this diet by excluding the prohibited foods from Deuteronomy and Leviticus, providing his own medical justifications.

If indeed we are what we eat, perhaps Christians should pay more attention to what they put into their bodies rather than simply allowing popular culture to determine our consumption.

This idea challenges us to consider the impact of our dietary choices on our overall well-being and spiritual lives.

It makes us think about whether we are truly nourishing ourselves in a way that is in line with our beliefs and values.

Maybe it's time for us to take a closer look at our plates and make more conscious decisions about the food we consume.

What Would Jesus Eat?

This book was indeed an interesting read. It presented a wealth of enlightening information regarding a good approach to consuming healthy food.

However, it should be noted that there were some contradictions here and there within the text. Despite these, on the whole, it taught about a rather healthy and Biblical sort of diet.

The author explored various aspects of what Jesus might have eaten during his lifetime and how those choices could serve as a model for our own eating habits.

By examining the foods that were available and commonly consumed in the time and place where Jesus lived, we can gain valuable insights into a more natural and nutritious way of eating.

Overall, while What Would Jesus Eat? may not be without its flaws, it offers a thought-provoking perspective on healthy eating and its connection to our faith.

I truly relished this book. It presented excellent recipes at the conclusion. I have a penchant for reading books regarding healthy eating as it serves as a continuous reminder to monitor my diet and acts as a great motivator. The biblical references were seamlessly integrated into the modern eating program.

A few fascinating aspects of the book:

1) The process of making wheat "white" for bread involves 20 steps, and 80% of the nutrients are removed to make white bread appealing on the grocer's shelf to the American public. Also, consider this for crackers, bagels, and many pastas made of white flour. This low-fiber bread, laced with sugar and fat, turns pasty in the intestines, leading to health issues. (CHOOSE WHOLE GRAIN)

2) Hot dogs are made from the waste products of meat (and some even contain animal hair as part of the waste). They are processed, high in fat, and have nitrates, all of which are hard on the digestive system. (LIMIT PORK CONSUMPTION) **I'm aware that bacon isn't healthy, but it's so delicious**

3) Yogurt is a superfood, high in bone-building calcium and containing live cultures. (LOW FAT PLAIN YOGURT MAKES A HEALTHY SNACK)

4) Many people are hesitant to eat beans because they cause excessive gas. However, by soaking beans overnight and discarding the water, the gas-producing effects are decreased. (EAT MORE GARBANZO BEANS)

5) Extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality of oil and has been shown to help decrease LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. (COOK WITH OIL RATHER THAN BUTTER)

6) NutraSweet (or aspartame) is the most popular artificial sweetener in America, and it's 200 times sweeter than table sugar by volume. It contains two amino acids, which in the body produce substances identical in composition to wood alcohol and formaldehyde (yes, embalming fluid). This chemical sweetener has been shown to have addictive tendencies and increase sugar cravings. (DRINK MORE WATER)

This was an easy read.

The author presents the information in a straightforward manner, and each chapter is concise.

While I would have preferred having more in-depth exploration of biblical references related to food and nutrition, the content provided is still decent enough to convey the point that the author attempts to make.

It offers a basic understanding of the topic and can serve as a starting point for further study or reflection.

Although it may not be the most comprehensive or detailed resource on the subject, it does manage to capture the essence and provide some valuable insights.

Overall, it is a worthwhile read for those interested in learning more about the connection between the Bible and food and nutrition.

If I could have given this book an A+, I would have.

It presents a common sense approach to eating that not only helps one become more healthy but also, as a plus, aids in losing weight.

I have already started trying some of the suggestions mentioned in the book.

The author's practical advice makes it easy to understand and implement in our daily lives.

By following these simple guidelines, I believe I can make significant improvements in my eating habits and overall well-being.

The book doesn't advocate for extreme diets or fads but rather emphasizes the importance of balanced nutrition and portion control.

It provides valuable insights into the types of foods we should be consuming more of and those we should limit.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their health and achieve their weight loss goals in a sustainable way.
