I only read the last half of the book.

The short stories regarding the rabbits' lore and "religion" didn't interest me at all.

They seemed rather dull and unappealing, lacking the excitement and charm that I had expected.

The second part contains sequel short stories about Hazel and Company.

However, sadly, none of them held a candle to the sheer magnificence of Watership Down.

The original story was so captivating and engaging, with its vivid descriptions and thrilling adventures.

In comparison, the sequels felt flat and unremarkable.

It was disappointing to see that they couldn't live up to the high standards set by the first book.

Despite this, I still appreciate the author's efforts and the overall concept of the series.

Perhaps others may find more enjoyment in the sequels than I did.

But for me, Watership Down will always remain the standout masterpiece.

Watership Down is truly one of my all-time favorite books.

For some reason, it has taken me years to finally pick up this (regrettably brief) sequel.

As I delved into its pages, it felt as if I was reuniting with dear old friends. The familiar characters and their adventures immediately drew me in and made me forget about the outside world.

However, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness when I reached the end. It seemed to end all too soon, just like most good things in life.

I found myself longing for more, eager to continue following the rabbits' journey and see what other challenges and triumphs awaited them.

Despite its brevity, the sequel managed to capture the essence of the original and left me with a deep sense of satisfaction. It was a wonderful addition to the Watership Down series and a reminder of why I fell in love with these characters in the first place.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has read and enjoyed Watership Down, as well as to those who are new to the series and looking for a captivating and heartwarming story.

When I first read this,

I initially thought it was simply a charming little story about rabbits.

However, as I grew more mature and gained a deeper understanding,

I came to realize that it could also be seen as an allegory of different types of governments.

The story, in its essence, still retains its charm as a nice tale about rabbits.

It shows how something that may seem straightforward and innocent on the surface

can have hidden layers of meaning that become apparent with time and reflection.

Whether we view it as a simple story about rabbits or as a thought-provoking allegory,

it continues to engage and interest readers of all ages.

It serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected things can hold profound insights and lessons.

So, the next time you come across a seemingly ordinary story,

take a moment to look beyond the surface and see if there might be more to it than meets the eye.

The Characters from Watership Down are back.

And they have more tales to tell.

If you are a fan of the first book Watership Down, you may enjoy further stories with this book "Tales from Watership Down {Watership Down #2}".

I liked some of the stories more than others myself.

But this one is pretty good.

The new tales take us on another adventure with the beloved rabbits.

We get to learn more about their lives, their struggles, and their friendships.

The author has done a great job of creating new and exciting stories that still maintain the charm and magic of the original book.

Whether you are a long-time fan or new to the world of Watership Down, this book is definitely worth a read.

It will transport you to a world of rabbits and their adventures, and keep you entertained from start to finish.

This movie is not as great or heartbreaking as its predecessor. However, it is still a fantastic piece of work.

The story may not have the same emotional impact as the first one, but it still manages to engage the audience from start to finish. The characters are well-developed and the acting is top-notch.

The special effects are also a highlight of the movie, adding to the overall atmosphere and excitement.

Overall, I would rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars. It may not be perfect, but it is definitely worth watching.

Whether you are a fan of the first movie or not, you will find something to enjoy in this one.

Well, I only read this because, hey, Watership Down got me all emotional over rabbits. And since this was the sequel, of course I was going to read it.

Each chapter of this is a small separate story. Some of them were great, while others were not so much. So, yeah, I was hoping for a continuation from the first book, maybe a "where are the characters now" sort of thing, but I didn't get that.

A summary for Tales from Watership Down:

Tales From Watership Down begins with some of the great folk stories well known to all rabbits. Then Dandelion, the rabbits' master storyteller, relates the thrilling adventures experienced by Al-ahrairah, the mythical rabbit hero, and his stalwart, Rabscuttle, during the long journey home after their terrible encounter with the Black Rabbit of Inlé (as told in Watership Down). Finally, in the principal part of the book, we are told eight enchanting stories about the rabbits of the Down - Hazel, Fiver, Bigwig, and their companions - including the impact on the warren of the obsessive doe Flyairth, and the appointment of Hyzenthlay as a female Chief Rabbit and partner to Hazel.

Yeah, I think I need to lower my expectations as this book was not what I was expecting it to be. Which is a shame as it's still a good book, but not as good as the book that started it all.

This sequel is truly a letdown compared to how wonderful the original is.

I approached it with great excitement since I have a passion for El-ahrairah stories and I obtained this book simply because Watership Down is one of my all-time favorite books.

The first two parts, which recount the stories of El-ahrairah, are extremely tedious and bear a remarkable similarity to shaggy dog stories. It goes like this: "El-ahrairah wants object X. He is informed by a supernatural being or vision to go to point A. At point A, he is told to go to point B, from where he is told to go to point C, and so on and so forth."

The last part comes as a bit of a relief as we finally start reading about the Warren itself in the New World Order. However, it is only slightly better than the first two parts. The chapters in part 3 lack any real denouement, plot twists, or any excitement at all.

On top of that, the book is significantly darker and more serious than its predecessor. There are a few human murders involved, and the author also makes a case for feminism. Now, I have nothing against feminism (before you condemn me), but what I adored about Watership Down was its innocence and its refusal to deal with "real world issues." I read it to escape from this world and enter an idyllic life of adorable rabbits having adventures in the scenic British countryside. The stories were classic adventures: pure fun and excitement without the need to look for deeper philosophical meaning. The inclusion of murders and the tackling of real-world issues really put me off.

This is a truly captivating and diminutive compilation of stories.

It is designed for those individuals who have a desire to immerse themselves more deeply in the mythology and backstories of both the rabbits from Watership Down and the fabled El-ahrairah.

As others have pointed out, it is not a direct sequel to the original narrative, so one should not have such expectations.

However, it does offer a certain understanding of how our endearing group of rabbits continued their journey after the defeat of General Woundwort.

This includes the promotion of the doe Hyzenthlay to the position of Chief Rabbit.

How wonderful it would be if humans were as open-minded and discerning when it comes to their leaders!

Not every story within this collection is completely enthralling, but I definitely relished some of the additional adventures of El-ahrairah and his reliable lieutenant Rabscuttle.

Their pursuit to discover and acquire a sense of smell for all rabbits in order to assist them in eluding the Thousand was especially enjoyable.

And I adored returning to all the great rabbit vocabulary, such as tharn, hruddudu, and hraka.

If you are seeking to consume a bit more of the enchanting lapin world that Richard Addams has conjured up, then have a delightful silflay with this book.

Well, this was truly a huge and complete disappointment.

Anyone who had been hoping to discover the charm and wonder that was present in the original book will most definitely be let down by this dreadful, overly preachy, and poorly-written sequel.

It seems as if the author, in an attempt to make a quick profit, was simply feeding off the remains of beloved characters like Hazel Fiver, Bigwig, and others.

Avoid this book at all costs. Instead, go back and re-read the original to recapture that magic and enjoy the story as it was meant to be experienced.

Don't waste your time on this lackluster follow-up when the original is a masterpiece that can be savored again and again.

I truly adored the original book. It was an absolute five-star masterpiece. However, this particular one couldn't really be considered a proper sequel. Instead, it felt more like a simple return to Watership Down to observe what the rabbits were engaged in during the period between Woundwart's defeat and the conclusion of the first novel.

There was nothing revolutionary or earth-shattering about it. It definitely didn't possess the same depth as the initial novel. Nevertheless, it served as a light and enjoyable diversion, offering some pleasant reading centered around the characters that we had grown to cherish.

Certainly, some aspects of it functioned well, while others didn't quite hit the mark. If you had a deep affection for the first book, then by all means, give this one a try. But it's important not to have overly high expectations.

All in all, it's a somewhat charming addition to the Watership Down saga, but it doesn't quite reach the same heights as its predecessor.

3.5 stars.

I have an intense love for Watership Down. It holds a special place among my favorite books. Therefore, when I had the opportunity to read this, I was filled with excitement.

The majority of the stories within were rather good. There were a few that stood out as truly excellent, captivating my imagination and keeping me on the edge of my seat. However, there were also a few that I would describe as a bit mediocre. They didn't quite have the same sparkle and charm as the others.

All in all, despite the presence of those mediocre stories, I still did enjoy it. It was a worthwhile read that added to my appreciation of the world and the characters. I'm glad I took the time to explore these additional tales related to Watership Down.
