Just as delightful and charming as Watership Down, this sequel is truly a gem.

It is comprised of three distinct parts. The first two parts are filled to the brim with the captivating stories of El-abrairah and his loyal servant, Rabscuttle. These are the very characters that we have come to love and cherish from the first book. Their adventures and escapades are both thrilling and heartwarming, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat.

The third part, on the other hand, takes us back to the everyday life on Watershed Down. Here, we get to see the rabbits going about their normal routines, dealing with the challenges and joys that come their way. It is a simple and yet wonderful reading experience that will leave you with a sense of warmth and contentment.

Overall, this sequel is a must-read for fans of Watership Down and anyone who loves a good adventure story.

This book was truly a big disappointment.

Especially when compared to the amazing Watership Down.

The first half of the book consists simply of stories from the rabbits' mythology.

While they are somewhat entertaining, it becomes very tedious to have to endure story after story without any context within the larger narrative.

For the first half of the book, there is essentially no overarching story.

It feels as if Adams is saying, "Hey, I had more El-ahrairah stories than I could fit in the first book, so I'll just dump them in this one."

Then, finally, the story begins, and we get to see our favorite characters actually living and interacting with each other.

I really enjoyed that part and was very glad that Adams provided some real substance.

However, once again, I was let down because the ending was extremely abrupt.

It came out of nowhere and seemed to serve no real purpose at all.

Overall, this book was a huge letdown.

Adams should have known when to stop.

Watership Down is an incredible masterpiece, but this follow-up was a real disappointment.

Re-read in memorium for Richard Adams.

His works are truly remarkable. "Watership Down" is a classic that has captured the hearts of many. And this particular piece, a more mature work, shows his growth as a writer.

It has less rigid boundaries, allowing him to explore beyond the world of Watership. Yet, it remains as delightful and warm as its predecessor.

The words "RIP Richard Adams - My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend has stopped running today" express the deep sense of loss felt by his fans.

First read in April 2005, this work has left a lasting impression. It is a testament to Adams' talent and his ability to create stories that touch our souls.

We will always remember him and his wonderful contributions to the world of literature.

Was it as good as Watership Down? No, not quite.

However, it was still good.

Gotta admit, there were quite a few themes and stories in this one that seemed like Richard Adams was attempting to address some of the "controversies" of the first book. But it was done in a rather heavy-handed manner.

Nonetheless, it's more Watership Down by the man himself. And especially after visiting the actual location, it was great to read more about the exploits of Hazel, Bigwig, Fiver and the rest of the company.

If you liked the original, then it's definitely worth giving this one a try. You might find that although it doesn't quite reach the same heights as the first, it still has its own charm and appeal. It offers more insights into the world that Adams created and allows you to further explore the adventures and challenges that the rabbits face. So, don't hesitate to pick up this book and see where it takes you.
