Worth it for No Man's Land alone. I firmly believe that The Birthday Party just narrowly edges out as Pinter's best play, but this one is a very close second. In fact, when it comes to performance, more often than not, I have a preference for this particular play.

I would probably suggest that starting with volume 1 would be a better option. However, this selection is by no means exclusive to completists only. It has something to offer for a wide range of audiences.

Whether you are a die-hard Pinter fan or someone who is just beginning to explore his works, this play is sure to captivate and engage you. It展现了 Pinter's独特的戏剧风格和深刻的洞察力,让观众在欣赏剧情的同时,也能对人性、社会等方面有更深入的思考。

The four stars are principally awarded for 'The Homecoming', which holds a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favourite plays. It is also the very play that I am currently writing about for my coursework, in conjunction with 'King Lear'.

The other plays included in this collection, although perhaps not as widely known, are some of his more obscure and ambiguous works. This does not mean, however, that they lack the essence of Pinter's unique style. They are still very much infused with his trademark black humour and twisted tone, which add a layer of complexity and intrigue to each story.

Each play in this collection offers a different perspective and exploration of human nature, relationships, and the darker side of life. They challenge the audience's perception and force us to question our own assumptions and beliefs.

Overall, this collection is a must-read for any fan of Pinter's work or anyone interested in exploring the depths of the human psyche through the medium of drama.

These plays really messed with my head.

They were so complex and filled with unexpected twists and turns that I found myself constantly trying to keep up. The characters were all so vivid and their actions and decisions were often difficult to predict. It was as if I was being taken on a wild ride through a maze of emotions and ideas.

I would watch a scene and think I knew what was going to happen next, only to be completely surprised when something else occurred. The plots seemed to unfold in ways that I could never have imagined, and I was left feeling both confused and intrigued at the same time.

Overall, these plays had a profound impact on me. They made me think about things in a different way and challenged my assumptions about the world. Although they may have messed with my head, I'm glad that I had the opportunity to experience them.

This is the fourth collection of Pinter plays that I have perused. It呈现出了预期的优秀、良好以及偶尔难以理解的混合状态。

Certainly, there is no one who composes plays quite like Pinter. His works are dark, gritty, and at times, mesmerizing. For me, the nearest equivalent would be Arthur Miller, whose plays I also truly appreciate.

Yet, Miller's plays are still frequently performed, while Pinter's are not as much, which is a pity. I would love to at least witness some TV adaptations to gain a new perspective on them.

I believe that 4 books of plays are all I will obtain, at least from my library. However, I have really relished delving into them. I would rate this collection an 8/10.

Overall, Pinter's plays offer a unique and thought-provoking experience, and I hope that more people will have the opportunity to discover and enjoy them in the future.

I highly recommend two outstanding works, namely “The homecoming” and “Old times”. These two pieces offer unique and captivating experiences for the readers. “The homecoming” takes you on a journey filled with emotions and revelations as the protagonist returns to his or her roots. It explores themes of identity, belonging, and the power of memories. On the other hand, “Old times” delves into the past, painting a vivid picture of bygone eras. It allows you to step back in time and witness the lives and struggles of those who came before us. Both works are masterpieces in their own right, with engaging storylines, well-developed characters, and beautiful prose. Whether you are a fan of drama, history, or simply a good read, “The homecoming” and “Old times” are sure to satisfy your literary cravings.
