She has been invited to co-star in a television production where three well-known spiritualists will attempt to contact the ghost of Marilyn Monroe. The fact that two of the three performers are frauds means nothing to the Hollywood types who are out to make a fortune from the show.
When Jaime moves into the house leased by the production company for filming, she discovers that there are actual ghosts in the garden who are desperate for her attention. But she can't communicate with them and doesn't know who they are. Jaime turns to her werewolf crush, Jeremy Danvers, for help in solving the mystery of the trapped spirits and helping them find peace. Together, they uncover a truly evil group of people who are determined to gain supernatural powers through human sacrifice.
I found Jaime's necromancy power far more engaging than the werewolf books that Armstrong seems so enamored with. Jaime is very human and down to earth, in contrast to the super strong and aggressive werewolves. Jeremy, on the other hand, is an exceptional wolf who relies more on his intellect than his brawn, although he is not averse to using his strength when necessary.
The combination of the necromancer and the werewolf makes for an excellent team, and they manage to expose the unspeakable evil being committed at the expense of innocent lives.
This was a fun read, if not a literary masterpiece. Armstrong creates interesting and fully developed characters with their own motivations and desires. I will definitely continue to pick up the books in this series and enjoy the paranormal creatures that inhabit them.
