I got this book decades ago.

Every few years, I would start to read it and then put it down.

Over all that time, my world has just become increasingly more cluttered.

Recently, a new medication has made me more receptive to taking action regarding the clutter in my life.

The Covid-19 seclusion has had both a helping and hindering effect.

I've finally read the book, and I really enjoyed it.

It's light-hearted, funny, and extremely helpful.

I have a number of things boxed up with the intention of getting rid of them either through sale or donation.

Unfortunately, nothing is open at the moment.

Half Priced Books, the library, and Goodwill are all closed.

So the purge will have to wait and the pile of things to be decluttered will continue to build.

I hope that soon the situation will change and I can finally start clearing out the clutter and making my life more organized and less chaotic.

This is one of the few books that I can honestly say has had a lasting positive effect on my life.

Don has the right vision, and this book is extremely motivational and persuasive. It offers valuable insights and practical advice that can truly transform one's perspective and approach to life.

If you desire to enjoy life more, I would highly recommend this quick and fun read. It is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, inspiring you to take action and make positive changes in your own life.

Whether you are facing challenges or simply looking for ways to enhance your well-being, this book has something to offer. It will encourage you to believe in yourself, pursue your dreams, and find joy in the journey.

Give it a try, and you may be surprised at the impact it can have on your life.

Clutter's Last Stand is essentially a rather lengthy diatribe that delves into every conceivable type of clutter, presented in various categories and long, comma-separated lists.

The author then proceeds to tell you how foolish you are for having kept all that clutter in the first place and strongly advocates that you should simply throw it all away.

While there are indeed a few nuggets of wisdom scattered throughout the book, such as the separation technique detailed in the last few chapters, which are supported by personal anecdotes from the author's life and his experiences in the cleaning business, I, unfortunately, did not find the book to be overly inspiring.

I suppose that the books by Joshua Becker might be better able to fill that particular void for those seeking more motivation and practical advice on decluttering and simplifying their lives.

Although this book dates back to 1984, its ideas and suggestions remain both helpful and motivating.

It is truly a gem that offers valuable insights and practical tips.

When I was looking for something to assist me in the process of de-cluttering, this book turned out to be exactly what I needed.

The concepts presented within its pages have provided me with the inspiration and drive to take on the task.

It has opened my eyes to new ways of thinking about organizing my space and getting rid of the unnecessary.

Even after all these years, the wisdom contained in this book continues to resonate and prove useful.

I am grateful to have discovered it and look forward to implementing its suggestions to create a more clutter-free and harmonious environment.

Aslett truly has a remarkable sense of humor that shines through in his work.

The book he has written serves as a powerful tool to assist you in liberating yourself. It achieves this by guiding you to let go of all the unnecessary stuff that you have accumulated over time.

It's not just a regular read; it's a fun and engaging one that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

Personally, it has been extremely beneficial for me. I have made several trips to the D.I. in recent times, where I have been donating our unwanted stuff to charity.

As a result of this decluttering process, my house now feels like it can breathe easier. It has a newfound sense of space and tranquility, which is truly wonderful.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to simplify their life and get rid of the excess baggage that is weighing them down.

You won't be disappointed!

**Title: The Wonders of Writing with Love, Humor, and Good Advice**

Writing is an art form that allows us to express our thoughts, emotions, and ideas. When we add love, humor, and good advice to our writing, it becomes even more engaging and enjoyable.

Love in writing can be seen in the way we describe people, places, and things. We can use warm and affectionate words to make the reader feel a connection. For example, instead of saying "the old man," we could say "the kind-hearted old gentleman with a twinkle in his eye."

Humor is a great way to lighten the mood and make the reader smile. It can be in the form of a witty remark, a funny story, or a play on words. However, it's important to use humor appropriately and not overdo it.

Good advice is another essential element of great writing. Whether it's about relationships, work, or life in general, sharing our wisdom and experiences can help others. But we should always present our advice in a friendly and non-judgmental way.

In conclusion, if you want to make your writing stand out, add a little love, humor, and good advice. It will not only make your readers happy but also make you a better writer. So go ahead and start writing with heart!

This is the latest in my attempts to get more organized. I truly like books that offer me practical how-tos. However, this book, unfortunately, mostly didn't meet my expectations. Some organizing books I have come across have been motivational, even when I felt that the specific tips didn't quite suit my personal style. But this one mainly seemed to be focused on telling you why you needed to get rid of clutter rather than providing detailed instructions on how to do it. As a result, I ended up just skimming through the book.

(I would probably give it one and a half stars, I guess, for his point that if you leave stuff out on your counters, you simply have to clean it. This particular point did inspire me to put the condiments (salt, pepper, olive oil) that I had sitting out on my kitchen counter back into the cupboard.)

Maybe you could consider giving this book to your sibling who doesn't realize they have a problem with clutter. But overall, this is not a no-nonsense, practical organizing book, and it definitely wasn't what I was looking for in my quest for better organization.

I just reviewed this recently. I first read it in the 80's. It was probably my first introduction to the subject and it made quite a lasting impression on me.

This time, after reading it though, I decided to put it in the donation bin to pass it along to someone else. I guess I'm finally learning.

Learning to let go of things that have served their purpose in my life. This book, although it was important to me at one time, now seems to have fulfilled its role.

By donating it, I hope that it will find a new home and bring the same kind of inspiration and knowledge to someone else as it did to me.

It's a small act, but it feels good to know that I'm sharing something that was once so valuable to me.

Maybe the person who receives this book will have a similar experience and it will become an important part of their life too.

Who knows what kind of impact it will have on them? Only time will tell.

But for now, I'm content with the decision I've made and look forward to seeing what new things come my way.

A 30-minute presentation from this author would likely be quite entertaining.

However, when it comes to reading, I have my own preferences for entertainment.

What I truly desire from an author is for them to attempt to teach me something.

I don't want to waste my time with unnecessary fluff or digressions.

I want the author to cut to the chase and get straight to the point.

In this way, I can gain valuable knowledge and insights while also being engaged by the content.

After all, reading should be both enjoyable and educational.

So, if the author wants my attention and to make a lasting impression, they need to focus on delivering the essential information in a clear and concise manner.

That way, I can walk away from the reading experience having learned something new and useful.

I just have to share this amazing story. My mom is a total pack rat. She has stuff everywhere in the house, and it was driving me crazy. But then something happened that completely changed my freakin' life.

One day, I decided to take matters into my own hands and started cleaning up her mess. As I was going through all the junk, I found some old photos and letters that belonged to my grandparents. It was like a time capsule, and it made me realize how important it is to hold onto the memories.

After that, I continued to clean and organize the house. And you know what? It felt so good. The house looked so much better, and I felt like I had a new lease on life. I never thought that cleaning up my mom's stuff could have such a big impact on me. But it did, and I'm so grateful for it.

This one was a DNF for me.

I didn't get very far into it, so I won't leave a rating.

I found much of the content to be repetitive, or in page-long spurts that weren't very interesting.

It felt as if I was reading some never-ending prologue, forever out of reach from content worthy of just comfortably reading.

I will say that I liked the author's perspective on the amount of time we have lessening as we age.

Though we might have loved all our things when we were younger and had more time for them, now we have to pick and choose.

All those things we don't have time to use but still keep because we, theoretically, never stopped liking them - they're burying the things we want to invest our time and attention in today.

That logic helped me let go.

I decided to finally give away the ocarina I'll never have time to learn to play, and all my fishkeeping supplies.

Fish are gorgeous to look at, sure. But they don't add enough to my life that I want to be burdened with the cost and time of upkeeping my own tanks.

I get more pleasure from cross-stitching while I watch a movie, getting lost in the pages of a sprawling fantasy, or gaming at midnight with friends.

Part of this new adventure in respecting my time has been knowing when to put a book down.

If it doesn't capture my attention, there are dozens of soon-to-be favorites just waiting on the shelf.

Thanks to Don Aslett for the fresh perspective.

Overall, this experience has made me more conscious of how I spend my time and what truly brings me joy. I'm now more willing to let go of things that no longer serve me and focus on the activities and hobbies that I truly love. It's a liberating feeling, and I look forward to seeing where this new mindset takes me in the future.
