You don't have to be a hoarder or packrat to enjoy this book.

I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions while reading it. The things that people keep are truly astonishing. There were also moments when I thought "No Way" and "Ewww".

Really??? There were times when I felt that someone has to tell people to throw THAT away.

Of course, this book will also nudge you into considering throwing away a few things or donating them. Because, let's face it, we all have far more junk cluttering up our lives than we actually need or will ever use.

It makes you realize that sometimes we hold onto things that are no longer serving us. By getting rid of some of this excess, we can create more space and simplicity in our lives.

This book is not only entertaining but also thought-provoking, making you reevaluate your relationship with the stuff you own.

It's a great read for anyone who wants to lighten their load and declutter their lives.

This is a truly great book up to this point.

It has had a profound impact on me, truly motivating me to declutter and get rid of the unnecessary stuff in our house.

Although I am well aware that I still have a long and arduous journey ahead of me, whenever I find myself in need of that extra boost of encouragement, I simply reach for this book and read it some more.

The words within its pages seem to have a magical quality that reignites my determination and gives me the strength to continue.

I wholeheartedly believe that this book would be a valuable asset to anyone.

Whether you are someone who is just starting to embark on a decluttering adventure or someone who has been struggling with it for a while, this book has the power to inspire and guide you.

So, if you are looking for a source of motivation and practical advice on how to simplify your life and get rid of the excess, I would highly recommend this book to you without any hesitation.

Funny and effective, indeed! My all-time favorite quote is: "Living is doing...not having." It really makes you think about what truly matters in life. However, I also have another decluttering and simplicity book called "Simplify Your Life" by Elaine St. James. What's interesting about this one is that it has been slimmed down. It has fewer paragraphs, fewer pages, and less bulk overall. But surprisingly, it manages to accomplish the exact same thing as the other book I have. I think that's quite remarkable. For now, I'll definitely keep my own copy, but I might just borrow this particular one from the library from time to time. It's always good to have different perspectives and approaches when it comes to simplifying our lives and decluttering our spaces.

This was truly full of wise advice. It was like a precious gem that shone with the light of knowledge and experience. Each piece of advice seemed to be carefully crafted and offered with the best intentions.

I found myself nodding in agreement as I read through it, realizing the value and importance of every word. It was as if a wise mentor was speaking directly to me, guiding me towards a better path.

I only hope that I can follow this advice. It won't be easy, for it requires effort, discipline, and a willingness to change. But I know that if I do, it will lead to growth and success in my life.

I will do my best to internalize these words of wisdom and apply them to my daily actions. I believe that by following this advice, I can become a better person and achieve my goals.

I absolutely LOVED this book.

It contains an abundance of truly incredible insights that I had never even considered before regarding the reasons why and the methods on how to de-junk your life.

And the best part of it all is that the author of this book is from (and frequently mentions) IDAHO. So, in my opinion, it truly deserves 6 stars. :)

I must admit that the edition I read was a little bit dated, as it was written in 1980, I believe. However, if you are able to look beyond that aspect, the principles presented in the book still hold true and have significantly changed the way I perceive my home and life.

I especially had a great liking for chapters 3, 6, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 18. These chapters provided me with valuable lessons and practical tips that I could easily apply to my own situation.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to simplify their life and get rid of the clutter that is holding them back.

This is truly an excellent resource for those individuals who are truly plagued by a significant clutter problem. It is not only practical but also funny and light-hearted, which makes it an enjoyable read.

As for me, since I only have pockets of clutter issues here and there, I mostly skimmed through a large portion of it. However, I did find a really great section towards the end.

This section focused on how to make decisions about what to keep and provided valuable insights into why we don't necessarily have to hold onto those clutter gifts that we receive. It offered practical tips and strategies that can help one declutter and simplify their living space.

Overall, this article is a great read for anyone looking to deal with their clutter problems in a more effective and enjoyable way.

Yes! Rick can always tell when I re-read this book.

It's quite remarkable how he has this sixth sense about it.

Every time I pick up this particular book and start going through it again, something seems to give me away.

Maybe it's the way I furrow my brows in concentration or the slight changes in my expression as I encounter certain passages.

And as a result of my re-reading, I often find myself throwing things out.

It could be old bookmarks that no longer serve a purpose or scraps of paper with random thoughts written on them that I jotted down during previous readings.

Rick always notices these little details and remarks on them, which never fails to amuse me.

It's as if he has a special connection to my reading habits and can sense when I'm engaged in this particular activity.

It makes our interactions even more interesting and adds a touch of uniqueness to our relationship.

This is a really very fun book! It's one that I would even love to re-read. I highly recommend it for those who need some extra motivation to keep that paper tiger tamed or to gear up for a big spring cleaning session. Just reading a few pages was enough to motivate me to simplify my life. And I have never regretted throwing away any of that burdensome stuff.

Interestingly, I'm reading it again in 2016. The reason is that now I have a family and there is extra stuff to keep up with in our small cottage home, which is driving me crazy! I really need this book for that extra push to simplify life and also for a good laugh at my sentimental value-placement of tangibles. It's amazing how a book can have such a profound impact on our lives and help us to make positive changes.

I can't wait to see what new insights and inspiration I'll gain from reading it this time around. Maybe it will help me to declutter our home even more and create a more peaceful and organized living environment for my family.

I truly had a great time reading this book. It had such a powerful impact on me that it actually inspired me to take on the task of cleaning out my closets and drawers. The moment I finished reading, I knew I had to share this wonderful experience with my loved ones. So, I went ahead and bought a copy for both my dad and sister.

To my delight, they both absolutely loved the book as well. They couldn't stop raving about how it not only provided useful tips and tricks but also had a way of making the whole process of decluttering seem enjoyable and even exciting. It was so heartwarming to see them get as enthusiastic about it as I did.

This book has truly become a favorite in our family, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little motivation and guidance when it comes to organizing their living spaces.

This was an entertaining book that was also a quick read. It managed to convey its point extremely well about the logistical and emotional toll that attachment to material stuff, also known as clutter, has.

Ironically, however, Aslett repeats the same message in numerous different ways. Instead of presenting a multi-pronged approach, I started to have the feeling that the book itself was 'cluttered'. I had the thought that it could potentially have been streamlined into a smaller number of words. But then again, perhaps if that had been done, it wouldn't have been a full-fledged book.

Nonetheless, I did enjoy reading it and it did succeed in convincing me to declutter some items from my life. In this regard, Freecycle.org has been an extremely great help. It has provided a platform where I can easily give away things that I no longer need or use, rather than simply throwing them away or letting them accumulate as more clutter.

Overall, despite its minor flaw of being a bit repetitive, the book had a positive impact on me and helped me take a step towards a less cluttered life.

Another refresher has been completed. Inspiration is just like taking a shower. There is no way to stock it up in advance. Instead, you need to exercise it on a daily basis. It's like a muscle that gets stronger with regular use.

Messy house equals an unhappy life. It's as simple as that. A cluttered and disorganized living space can have a significant impact on your mood and well-being. It can make you feel stressed, anxious, and even depressed.

Possessing too much stuff is a constant nagging tax on your peace of mind and your happiness. The more things you have, the more you have to take care of, the more you have to worry about. It can be a never-ending cycle of acquisition and dissatisfaction. It's important to learn to let go of the things that no longer serve you and focus on the things that truly matter in life.
