I found this book to be truly entertaining and highly aspiring.

It had such a profound impact on me that I couldn't help but take immediate action after finishing it. I embarked on a decluttering spree in my home.

As I sorted through my belongings, I was amazed to discover an item that I could sell. This not only gave me a sense of satisfaction but also a little extra cash in my pocket.

Moreover, the process of decluttering revealed something truly remarkable. I found things that I had thought were long lost, hidden away beneath the piles of stuff.

And another great benefit was that by decluttering, I saved money. I no longer had to worry about buying duplicates of items that I already had but had forgotten about.

Overall, this book not only provided entertainment but also inspired me to make positive changes in my life through decluttering.

"Very Helpful"

This simple phrase holds great significance. When something or someone is described as very helpful, it means they have provided assistance that has made a positive impact.

Help can come in many forms. It could be practical support, such as providing tools or resources. It might also be emotional support, offering words of encouragement or a listening ear.

People who are very helpful are often highly valued in society. They have the ability to make a difference in the lives of others, whether it's on a small scale or a large one.

We should all strive to be more helpful in our daily lives. By offering a helping hand to those in need, we can make the world a better place.

So, the next time you encounter someone who is very helpful, take a moment to appreciate their efforts and let them know how much they are valued.

This book served as an excellent motivator for decluttering.

It was filled with humor, which made it engaging and truly made one reflect on their possessions and even their weight, and the reasons behind holding on to them.

Although it successfully motivated me to declutter, it fell short in actually providing detailed instructions on how to do it.

I am the type of person who thrives on step-by-step guidance. The author mainly focused on describing what junk or clutter is rather than offering practical strategies on how to get rid of it, aside from simply stating that one needs to do it.

Nevertheless, I still managed to learn a great deal about myself through reading this book, and I will definitely take away many valuable insights from it.

Overall, it was a worthwhile read that, despite its limitations, had a positive impact on my mindset towards decluttering.

I read this book back in 1984, and it really helped at the time.

It was like a guiding light in a rather confusing period of my life. The ideas and concepts presented in the book were truly eye-opening.

However, as time has passed, the world has changed so much. New technologies, new social norms, and new challenges have emerged.

I think I need to read an updated version of this book.

An updated version would surely take into account these changes and offer fresh perspectives and insights.

It would be interesting to see how the original ideas have evolved and how they can still be relevant in today's context.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on an updated copy and delving back into the world of this amazing book.

On the plus side, this is indeed an entertaining and humorous exploration of our inclination to amass huge mounds of junk and fritter away our lives looking after them.

If you are a genuine packrat who has never thrown anything away, you will undoubtedly recognize a great deal of yourself within the pages of this book.

However, if you are like me and only have a few troublesome areas to deal with, the book might not offer a wealth of novel information.

He doesn't present an abundance of ideas for decluttering. Instead, it is more of a description of the various types of junk that we have a tendency to hold onto.

It is humorous, but there isn't really anything truly revolutionary here.

Nonetheless, it can still provide some light-hearted entertainment and perhaps make you think a little about your own relationship with the stuff you accumulate.

Overall, it's a quick and easy read that might offer a bit of amusement but not necessarily a life-changing experience when it comes to decluttering.

I don't have a significant amount of clutter in my life, but nevertheless, I truly relished this book.

Don Aslett's writing style has a certain charm that appealed to me greatly. It is engaging and easy to follow, making it a pleasure to read.

The inclusion of all the little illustrations and stories within the book added an extra layer of interest. They not only enhanced the visual appeal but also served to illustrate the concepts being discussed in a more vivid and memorable way.

Each illustration seemed to tell a story of its own, and the stories were both entertaining and thought-provoking. They made me reflect on my own habits and attitudes towards clutter and inspired me to take action to declutter my life even further.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about decluttering and organizing their lives. It is a valuable resource that provides practical tips and advice in an enjoyable and accessible format.

This book is a little out-dated,

but still useful. It hits on everyone's and anyone's weaknesses for junk.

It inspires the reader to get rid of stuff.

However, today's recycling culture makes it a little harder to throw anything out.

Very funny.

This book, although a bit outdated, still holds value. It cleverly targets the weaknesses that everyone has when it comes to junk. It encourages the reader to declutter and get rid of unnecessary items.

Nevertheless, in today's society with a strong emphasis on recycling, it has become somewhat more difficult to simply throw things away.

The author's humorous approach makes the book an enjoyable read.

Overall, it offers valuable insights and a lighthearted perspective on our relationship with stuff.

The engaging layout of the book immediately catches the reader's attention and draws them in. It's not just a dull and dry guide; it's a lively and entertaining read. I myself read this book several years ago, and even though I am only now writing a review, I still remember many of the principles clearly. It truly had a lasting impact on me.

Although this book is a little bit dated, it is still the best one I have read regarding dejunking. The specific information provided within it, combined with self-deprecating humor, makes this book a highly motivational read. It truly engages the reader and encourages them to take action and declutter their lives. However, my only suggestion would be for Aslett or his team to release an addendum. This addendum should contain current information on which organizations take specific items. In today's rapidly changing world, it is essential to have up-to-date knowledge about where to donate or recycle various items. By providing this additional information, the book would become even more valuable and relevant, helping readers make more informed decisions about dejunking and contributing to a more sustainable lifestyle.

This book brought to my mind Debt is Slavery. It's a relatively fast read, and I concur with most of its content. However, I already knew a great deal of it. Interestingly, it's not available as an ebook. So, ironically, the only means to read it was to buy an additional physical copy.

The only possible issue with an ebook version is that I might not be able to view the illustrations on my Sony Reader (even though I can see the book covers). Nevertheless, these cartoons don't truly contribute anything to the book as they merely replicate what's already in the main text.

Aslett is undoubtedly writing from an American perspective, and thus not all of it is applicable to the UK. Additionally, I believe some parts of the book are only relevant to business owners. For example: \\"I had [some stuff] not being used, just sitting around, fully paid for, so it seemed harmless, not costing me anything. WRONG. Taxes don't retire when you retire clutter. I received my business tax bill and a list of taxable items - there was lots of junk on that list!\\" As far as I'm aware, I don't have to pay tax for any of my possessions (excluding VAT on the original purchase price).

There are also certain points with which I disagree. For instance, he lists \\"But they aren't making it anymore\\" as an excuse for keeping clutter and then states \\"You can bet that if a thing is valuable from any angle, someone in our competitive economy will make it available for the market.\\" This made me think about books that have gone out of print, and the only way to read them is to hunt down a second-hand copy. In theory, ebooks will ensure that books are always available for purchase, but this very book demonstrates that not every book has been digitized yet!

Later on, he says: \\"And do you have sixty crumpled shopping bags stashed, though when you need one, you'll spring for a fresh crisp new one at the store, as usual? Pull out all those extra stashed bags and tote them in to the 'bag recycling' box at your local supermarket or discount store.\\" I agree that you don't want an ever-growing pile of bags at home, but I think a better solution is to reuse the bags you already have rather than picking up new ones every time you go to the shop. I think Aslett is focused on what's best for the individual rather than what's best for society as a whole.

This book presents some truly great concepts.

However, it is in desperate need of a competent editor.

The current state of the book is rather disorganized.

It is overly long, which can make it a bit of a chore to get through.

Moreover, it has a tendency to repeat the same concepts but in different ways.

This can be quite frustrating for the reader.

Despite these flaws, I would still recommend this book to those who are constantly plagued with clutter.

The concepts it contains are valuable and can offer useful insights and solutions.

If you can overlook the organizational issues and the repetition, you may find that this book has a lot to offer in terms of helping you declutter and simplify your life.

It's just a matter of being willing to put in the extra effort to wade through the text and extract the useful information.

There is a significant amount of preamble in the book.

Most of it involves identifying the junk that one might possess and then simply stating "get rid of it" without providing many practical suggestions on how to do so.

Moreover, the book was written quite some time ago.

As a result, it fails to address the issue of electronic clutter or explain how technology can assist in dealing with clutter.

For example, it doesn't mention the option of taking a picture of a memento and then discarding the physical object.

This omission is quite notable, as electronic clutter has become a major concern in today's digital age.

Technology offers numerous tools and techniques that can be used to manage and reduce clutter more effectively.

However, the book seems to be lacking in this regard and could benefit from an update to include these modern perspectives and solutions.

Overall, while the book may have some useful general concepts about decluttering, its outdated approach and lack of specific recommendations make it less relevant in the current context.
