A Different Book
This is a book that is different from what we are accustomed to. In fact, it is a TV script that tells us how the inhabitants of an island are isolated by a storm and, on top of that, they have to face the appearance of a mysterious man who threatens the lives of all of them. With a structure that makes the reading a bit confusing at the beginning, the story gradually traps the reader and shows the havoc that certain events can cause in people's attitudes. And, as you least expect it, it hides secrets that you can't imagine. The ending makes you reflect on how far one can be willing to go in order to survive...

What I liked most about this book was the ending. It was truly captivating and left a lasting impression on me. The way the story was wrapped up was both unexpected and satisfying.

However, in the interest of not spoiling anything for you, I will refrain from revealing the details. You'll just have to pick up the book and read it for yourself to experience the magic of the ending.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with a great ending. It's a page-turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

So, don't hesitate to give it a try and discover the joys of reading this wonderful book.

When it comes to reading a book by Stephen King, especially if he is the King of the 20th century as some might say, you know what to expect. There will be religious criticism, a very fast-paced and extremely creepy psychological thriller/gore, and that characteristic Pennywise of the moment; in this case, Andre Lenoge.

The last 20 pages would have been a 5/5 if it weren't for the prologue that seems a bit out of place and the ending that drags on unnecessarily. King's works are often a rollercoaster of emotions and scares. His ability to create vivid and terrifying characters is unmatched. Andre Lenoge, in this particular story, is yet another example of King's mastery in the horror genre.

Readers are drawn into the world he creates, filled with mystery and dread. The way he weaves the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Even though the prologue might seem a bit off and the ending could have been tighter, overall, it's still a Stephen King book, and that means it's worth the read for any horror enthusiast.

4.75/5

''When every choice hurts, how do you tell which one is the right one?'' This is a profound question that often plagues us in life. I had completely forgotten how much I relished a great King novel. There are numerous reasons why Mr. King is当之无愧 the King of horror. For me, the most crucial aspect is the rawness and honesty in his writing. Honesty is no easy feat; not many individuals have the courage to face it as it can be truly terrifying. However, to become proficient in accepting it, one must discover someone willing to tell the truth repeatedly, just like Mr. King. He always makes you feel at least a little disappointed in life and people. But, if you are brave enough, you can turn this to your advantage each time. I definitely recommend this particular novel and mostly any other one written by him. If you believe you can handle the intense emotions and thought-provoking themes that his works present.

Muy, muy, muy bueno.

This is my sincere evaluation of this work. I never expected such an ending. I held onto the hopes until the very last moment. The battle, the unmasking... And yet, it wasn't what I thought. It truly devastated me.

I feel an intense desire to know more about Linoge. Beyond just his role as the villain, I want to better understand who he was, what exactly it was that he did. There is so much mystery surrounding him that it piques my curiosity.

I absolutely loved the movie format. It allowed me to vividly visualize each shot and every scene with perfection. It was as if I was actually there, witnessing the events unfold.

In conclusion, I can't express enough how much I loved this. It has left a lasting impression on me and I will surely be thinking about it for a long time to come.

\\n  A once in a lifetime storm blows something extra into town that is far worse than the storm itself.\\n

I have been an avid collector of Stephen King books ever since junior high school. That was when I first stashed away my very first battered copy in a stuffed animal net hanging above my bed. My younger sister had already scribbled on so many of my books that I knew the ones I cherished the most had to be hidden away. Even to this day, he remains one of the few authors whose works I allow on my bookshelves. Most of the other books I purchase end up being donated to the library after I finish reading them. It truly pains me that he dabbles in other formats because my stubbornness about only reading physical copies of books prevents me from caving in and experiencing them.

This particular book presented me with a unique opportunity to experience something different without breaking my own rule. So, I was extremely stoked to have it in my hands. However, after reading it, I can now confidently say that screenplays are not my preferred reading material. The format simply did not flow for me, and my reading rhythm was constantly disrupted by the stage left nonsense. The story itself was interesting, but it was also quite predictable. A bit more work in that regard would have been highly appreciated. The same can be said about the characters. They were a little above average, but they also fell into the predictable category.

Overall, I give this story three stars. It simply did not pique my interest enough for me to hunt down the miniseries.

Wooooow!!! As it was a script, I didn't expect to like it so much!!

It was that it was a different kind of reading, with detailed shots that were drawn in my mind. The story poses an ethical dilemma that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Definitely, I have a new villain in my top favorites.

The way the script presented the characters and the situations was truly captivating. Each scene seemed to unfold like a vivid movie in my imagination. The ethical dilemma at the heart of the story made me question my own values and beliefs.

I found myself completely engrossed in the narrative, unable to put it down until I had reached the end. This script has definitely left a lasting impression on me and I look forward to seeing it brought to life on the screen.

This is the first script I've read by Stephen King. And yes, this isn't a novel but a script for a TV series. King makes the reader feel like a camera. One imagines oneself as traveling through the city or what the shots on the screen would be like. All of that contributes to a quick and easy reading experience. For movie lovers, it's very entertaining.

I liked the concept of the storm and how it arrives on the island. The murder on the first few pages lays the foundation for what this story will be and leaves you with high expectations. And it turns out that the Storm of the Century isn't related to nature but something much worse.

My favorite character was Mike. He carries the weight of the entire island. He tries to solve the problems even though everyone is against him (as is reflected at the end). On the other hand, the villain, Linoge, although everything he does is aberrant and he has brutal scenes (controlling bodies or distorting reality), I felt he was a caricature. He was like a villain from some Sunday action movie, and that took me out of the reading. He lacked the depth that King usually gives us in his novels.

And the ending... The ending is an atomic bomb. It entered my top of the best endings by Stephen King. If it weren't for that ending, I don't think I would remember this script/book. And it's only because of that ending that it's worth reading.

Another Ashley buddy delved into the books. Our theme for this month was 'Lighthouse', and thus we selected Storm of the Century as our "adult" pick. I had听闻过 this "book", but was unaware that it was a screenplay. I know, I know... what kind of King fan am I? Well, he has an extensive bibliography. A significant portion of it I have read. Like most King books I've read, I'm rating this one a 5-star. Sometimes his endings disappoint me, but I think this one was highly appropriate.

If you're new to King and haven't read his other works, this might be different for you, considering it's a screenplay. If you've ever read a play, then you understand how it functions. The story is divided into Acts and parts. Each scene is numbered. We get the exterior and interior shots, as well as what the director will do and how he will pan the shots. We also receive a brief description of how each actor will deliver their lines.
This story is set on an island off Maine called Little Tall. There is another story that King has written set on this island. If you've read Dolores Claiborne, then you're already familiar. We have a large cast of characters on the island. All are crucial for driving the story. Our main character, however, is Mike Anderson, and he is the island's "sheriff" or constable.
We encounter these island folk as the "Storm of the Century" is approaching the northern coast of New England. This hardy group is accustomed to winter storms. They are preparing by obtaining the essentials at the market run by none other than our Mike Anderson. It's a small island. As we watch the characters secure their homes and tie up their boats, we are introduced to the entire cast. They all seem like nice people. Joking and lighthearted in the face of the "storm".
As we follow the camera up main street, we catch a glimpse of a house, and something terrible occurs within it. The town is shaken up by it. Ayuh! They surely are! Before the storm is over, they will have to make a decision. One that will cost them dearly.
This book has a miniseries associated with it. I haven't been able to locate it on any streaming service as of yet. But for the time being, it's on Youtube! Thank you to the person who posted it. You better believe I'll be watching it tonight.

Andre Linoge is truly one of the most spine-chilling villains that Stephen King has ever brought to the screen.

This novel for television is equally as terrifying as the 1999 three-part television special. The story is rich in atmosphere, constantly filled with a palpable tension that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.

The characters are not only compelling but also incredibly human, with the exception of those that are not strictly human. Their flaws, fears, and desires are so vividly portrayed that it's easy to become emotionally invested in their fates.

I found myself so enthralled by this story that I would not only reread the screenplay but also rewatch the limited series. It's an all-around good time that offers a thrilling and unforgettable experience for fans of horror and great storytelling.

Whether you're a die-hard Stephen King fan or just someone looking for a good scare, this novel and its television adaptation are definitely worth checking out.

This was the very first screenplay that I had the pleasure of reading from start to finish. It was truly a remarkable experience that had a profound impact on me. In fact, it was after reading this published book that I was inspired to embark on my own journey of writing scripts. The author, THE KING, has a unique talent for painting vivid scenes and providing detailed camera directions, making it a truly engaging read.

The TV Movie series adaptation of this screenplay was also outstanding. It managed to capture the essence of the story and bring it to life on the small screen. I highly recommend either seeing the TV Movie series or reading this script for yourself. You are sure to be captivated by the story and the characters.

On May 16, 2023, I decided to re-read this screenplay. And to my delight, I found that I loved it even more the second time around. King has a knack for creating a sense of atmosphere and setting in his stories, especially when it comes to small New England towns. In this screenplay, almost all of the town inhabitants are well thought out and detailed, adding depth and authenticity to the story.

One of the standout characters in this screenplay is Linoge, the great evil character. His reason for coming to the Island, which is most famous for Dolores Claiborne fame, is truly chilling and would give any parent of a child nightmares. The ending of the story is also quite sad for our main hero, but it adds to the overall impact and emotional resonance of the story.

Overall, this was a very fun and different kind of read, especially since it is in script form. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story with great characters and a unique setting.
