A particularly thrilling mystery novel with a great deal of atmosphere and fascinating characters is set in a harsh era of American immigrants, namely the 17th century. This was a time when people from all over the world were flocking to the New World in search of a better life. However, the journey was often filled with hardships and challenges. In this novel, we are introduced to a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique story and motivation. The author does an excellent job of creating a vivid and immersive world, complete with detailed descriptions of the landscapes, buildings, and daily life of the settlers. As the mystery unfolds, we are drawn deeper into the lives of these characters, and we find ourselves rooting for them as they face various obstacles and adversities.
Großartige Atmosphäre in dem spannenden Abschluss der ersten Geschichte um Matthew Corbett. The story builds up an intense and exciting atmosphere from the very beginning. We are drawn into the world of Matthew Corbett and his adventures. The plot twists and turns, keeping us on the edge of our seats.
Nur gegen Ende zog es sich für meinen Geschmack ein bisschen zu sehr. Maybe it was just my personal preference, but towards the end, I felt that the story dragged on a little too much. There were some scenes that could have been shortened or omitted without sacrificing the overall impact of the story.
However, despite this small flaw, I still thoroughly enjoyed the book. The characters were well-developed and the writing was engaging. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or adventure story.
While I firmly believe that the first part of this series is marginally (and I truly mean extremely marginally…so marginally that it's almost imperceptible), that does not imply that Evil Revealed isn't still an outstanding book and a flawless continuation of the cliffhanger ending of Judgement of the Witch.
Everything I stated about part 1 is replicated here. From the well-developed characters, to the vivid setting, to the complex plot that twists and turns and ventures in numerous different directions, only to be resolved in an amazing, characteristic McCammon manner. And, as is often the case with all McCammon books, it left me yearning for more.
Together, these two novels constitute one absolutely perfect, epic, beautiful, and astonishingly addictive story that is among the best of McCammon's already impressive career (which is quite a statement considering that almost every book of his is essentially a five-star read). Now, I'm off to Queen of Bedlam.
With the completion of this sequel, the adventure of Matthew Corbet finally came to an end. This was a crime story set in the year 1699. It was a truly fascinating tale that chronicled the trials of a young man as he sought to uncover the truth in a horror-stricken colony near the Florida swamps. The story was so superb that I was immediately gripped from the very first page. The author's vivid descriptions and engaging plot kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I found myself completely immersed in the world of Matthew Corbet and his adventures. What made this story even more remarkable was that I could not guess the ending at all. It was full of unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very last page. Overall, this was an excellent read that I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good crime story.
