This is my absolute favourite chicklit of all time.

You simply can't claim that Plum Sykes' books are not smart or are as shallow as some might think. In fact, they are exceptionally well-written.

The prose is often sharp, cutting through the fluff and getting to the heart of the matter. And if you look closely, if you squint just a little, it kind of reads like a very well-executed, subtle satire.

To me, Plum Sykes is like a modern-day Jane Austen. Yes, I just wrote that.

Her stories have that same charm, that same ability to draw you in and make you care about the characters.

She has a talent for creating worlds that are both glamorous and relatable, filled with characters who are flawed but endearing.

Whether it's a story about love and loss in the big city or a tale of friendship and self-discovery, Plum Sykes always manages to deliver a book that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

For chick-lit enthusiasts, this particular book proved to be an absolute delight, keeping me thoroughly entertained from start to finish.

The main reason for this was that it delved into a world that I had only ever glimpsed through the pages of magazines.

It offered a refreshing break from the more profound and weighty tomes that I had been engrossed in lately.

Plum, the author, has a unique charm that makes her works ideal for various settings. Whether it's a relaxing cruise, a sunny day at the beach, or a cozy cabin retreat, her books are the perfect companions.

I have no hesitation in saying that I will most definitely be reading her works again in the future.

Her ability to create engaging stories and vivid characters is truly remarkable, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

So, I was in desperate need of a pick me up. It was truly an indulgent day.

Rather than succumbing to the temptation of chocolate, I decided to treat myself to a day at the spa. It was a luxurious experience that left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

After that, in the early evening, I continued my indulgence. I opened a bottle of wine, picked up this wonderful book, and then settled into bed to read.

It was such a quick and easy way to unwind, but to my surprise, I felt really good. The combination of the spa day, the wine, and the reading was the perfect recipe for a much-needed break.

I'm so glad I took the time to do something nice for myself. It's amazing how a little bit of self-indulgence can make such a big difference in how you feel.

What a cute little book!

This is the first of her books that I have read, and it truly will not be the last.

It is a super quick read, and it's so easy to get caught up in the story.

The characters are mostly likable, although they are completely shallow.

Despite this, I still really enjoyed it!

The author has a way of creating a world that draws you in and makes you want to keep reading.

The plot is simple yet engaging, and the writing style is light and easy to follow.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and quick read.

It's perfect for a lazy afternoon or a quick break from reality.

I can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us.

Second read May 2020:

Sometimes, when you're feeling anxious, one of the fun things you can do is pick up and read some really funny satirical novels. These novels are about people who don't have real problems, which can be quite entertaining and distracting. It's like a little escape from the stress and worries of our own lives. And let's not forget about the lovely lovely floof. I'm not sure what exactly that means, but it sounds nice and maybe it adds to the charm of the reading experience.

First read April 2006:

I really like Plum Sykes. Why? Well, to be honest, I don't really know and you know what? I don't even care. There's just something about her that appeals to me. Maybe it's her writing style, or the stories she tells. It could be the characters she creates or the way she brings them to life. Whatever it is, I'm just glad I discovered her and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

A major let down...

I have to admit that I truly wanted more from 'Bergdorf Blondes', specifically Julie and moi. Reading this particular installment was an absolute horror. It felt torturous, lacking any semblance of fun or goodness.

I reluctantly give it 'two stars' simply because I managed to read it through, and I didn't outright despise the book. However, when compared with the first book that Plum Sykes wrote, this one just didn't measure up. I found myself longing for the return of those two crazy and occasionally stylish friends, Julie and moi. Their charm and antics in the previous book were what made it so enjoyable, and unfortunately, this new offering failed to recapture that magic.

It's a shame, really, as I had such high hopes for this sequel. But alas, it just didn't deliver.

I found this to be even more enjoyable than Bergdorf Blondes.

The main characters in this particular book had a certain charm that made them almost likeable.

They weren't perfect, but there was something about their personalities and the way they interacted that drew me in.

Perhaps it was their flaws that made them more relatable, or maybe it was the unique situations they found themselves in.

Either way, I found myself invested in their stories and eager to see how things would unfold for them.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an entertaining read with engaging characters.

Chick lit has its own charm, and some of it can be truly outstanding.

Take Plum Sykes for example. She is a well-known socialite, and the characters and their humorous escapades in her works are inspired by her own experiences.

Her writing offers a fascinating and entertaining peek into the lives of the wealthy yet shallow. The way she describes the situations and the dialogues between the characters are simply hilarious, often making readers burst out laughing.

This kind of book is perfect for those moments when you're at the airport waiting for your flight or relaxing on the beach. It provides a light-hearted and enjoyable read that can easily pass the time and bring a smile to your face.

So, if you're in the mood for some fun and laughter, give Plum Sykes' books a try. You won't be disappointed.

I could not even finish it.

I'm all about fluff and I have a great passion for a good chick lit book. However, I just could NOT get into this one to save my life.

I made an effort, I really did. I tried to immerse myself in the story, to find something that would interest me. But it just could not grab my attention.

The characters seemed flat and uninteresting, the plot was predictable and lacked any real excitement.

I found myself constantly getting distracted and losing focus.

It's a shame really, because I was looking forward to reading this book. But unfortunately, it just didn't live up to my expectations.

I will have to look for another chick lit book that can capture my imagination and keep me entertained from start to finish.

This movie was rather entertaining, I have to admit. However, the plot was kind of crap. It just didn't hold my attention as much as I would have liked.

I found myself comparing it to the author's first book, The Bergdorf Blondes. That book was truly a gem. It had a great story, interesting characters, and a lot of charm.

In contrast, this movie felt a bit flat. The characters didn't seem as well-developed, and the plot was predictable.

Overall, I would say that if you're looking for a light-hearted entertainment, this movie might be worth a watch. But if you're a fan of the author's first book, you might be a bit disappointed.

The story is filled with witty dialogue and charming characters that will keep you entertained from start to finish. It offers a delightful escape into a world of fashion, romance, and fun.

Whether you're lounging by the pool or curled up on the couch, this book is the perfect companion. It's a quick and easy read that will leave you with a smile on your face.
