This is my absolute favourite chicklit of all time. You simply can't claim that Plum Sykes' books are not smart or are as shallow as some might think. In fact, they are exceptionally well-written. The prose is often sharp, cutting through the fluff and getting to the heart of the matter. And if you look closely, if you squint just a little, it kind of reads like a very well-executed, subtle satire. To me, Plum Sykes is like a modern-day Jane Austen. Yes, I just wrote that. Her stories have that same charm, that same ability to draw you in and make you care about the characters. She has a talent for creating worlds that are both glamorous and relatable, filled with characters who are flawed but endearing. Whether it's a story about love and loss in the big city or a tale of friendship and self-discovery, Plum Sykes always manages to deliver a book that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
