Is Sylvie's husband cheating on her or not? That's essentially the core plot of this story. The rumors, the hasty conclusion-jumping, and the paranoia did start to feel a bit tiresome after a while. However, overall, I still found the story quite enjoyable. It was rather amusing indeed.

Set within the realm of super-rich and well-connected young New Yorkers, it involves newlywed Sylvie finding herself among a group of divorcees who are frenziedly celebrating their newfound freedom.

There were quite a number of laugh-out-loud moments and some truly great, absurd quotes.

"And don't tell me I'm thin, because I know I look like a museum!"

and

"Being married has got to be the draggiest drag of all time. My self-esteem will never get over it."

I liked it so much that I'm now considering reading Syke's first book, which has received far better reviews.

Perhaps it will offer an even more engaging and entertaining reading experience. I'm eager to explore what else Syke has to offer in the literary world.

I purchased this book from the pound shop, so my expectations were not very high. However, to my surprise, it was actually quite easy to read. I didn't find myself thinking, "Oh God, not another page."诚然, the writing style was light, and the plot didn't have much depth. Nevertheless, every reader needs to take a break sometimes.

The characters in the book made me laugh, and the description of the clothes was the best I've read in a long time. The gorgeous dresses and numerous swimming costumes were vividly described. The love stories were light-hearted and carefully crafted. Although I didn't enjoy the whole "is he or is he not having an affair" aspect, that's just because I'm a bit cynical.

In conclusion, to keep this review short, this book is definitely for the ladies. It's a fun read that will make you laugh, but it shouldn't be taken too seriously.

There is nothing that can make three hours seem like three seconds, like when another girl tells about her love life.

This statement is indeed true, and it's rather sad. The book I just read was disappointingly shallow, not at all what I had anticipated. The brief synopsis on the back cover had piqued my interest, but unfortunately, while it was an enjoyable and light-hearted read about the New York upper class, it's not a book I would ever pick up again. I might recommend it to someone who needs to gain perspective on their own life, but it definitely doesn't qualify as a high-quality literary work.

I came across a review that mentioned Plum Sykes writes this book in a "Vogue"-writer style, and I wholeheartedly agree. The only reason Sylvie (the main character) and Lauren (along with all the other wealthy and extraordinarily beautiful girls) are friends is because Sylvie marries a rich man. There's nothing more to it. She has money, so she's in the club. It has nothing to do with her personality. I mean, even mean girls like Sophia (who chases after married men, preferably her girlfriends' men) and Lauren (who is wealthy enough to cancel something at the last minute, doesn't respond to phone calls or messages, and really lacks the most basic qualities of a friend) are popular and everyone wants to be friends with them. It's truly horrible.

All the women in this book spend an exorbitant amount of money on things they don't even need. I don't think I've ever read a book that I disagreed with more than this one. Also, the whole idea of "being newly divorced is just the best! I can have sex with anyone I want!" is just randomly thrown out at the end of the book. It was a plot twist I didn't see coming, and while it was a fitting ending, it made me decide to put the book in my pile of books to give away.

One aspect that I did like was the construction of the story. As readers, we understand why Sylvie is so paranoid. There are clues scattered throughout the book, yet we still manage to understand her. I liked that, even though I didn't really connect with her as a person. Oh well.

We all know very well that men must have very precise instructions on what to surprise their wives with.

I kept expecting more from this book.

I guess it was intended to be a satire of the divorcee's life, but unfortunately, it just didn't manage to hold my attention for very long.

There was a hint of mystery there, but the characters weren't developed in much detail.

I assume they were supposed to be quite humorous, but that's not really my cup of tea.

This is very much a chick lit novel. I did win this book, but I think I would have preferred to read the author's first book as it seemed to have received better reviews.

I'm sorry I can't rate this higher. It was one of those books that you could easily pick up and put down depending on your available time. It wasn't the kind that makes you want to sink into the couch and finish it in one sitting, which is what I'm always looking for in a good book.

On Goodreads, the description was as follows: A major national media event when published in hardcover, this delicious follow-up to Bergdorf Blondes was an immediate New York Times bestseller and confirmed Plum Sykes' status as a literary superstar. Sylvie Mortimer has just married and is blissfully happy with The Divine New Husband, Hunter. Sylvie's new friend, Lauren Blount, is very rich, very young, very thin, very pretty - and very, very divorced. The most reckless and glamorous of Manhattan's Debutante Divorcée set, Lauren captivates Sylvie, the group's token newlywed. But while Lauren sets out on a morality-lite, orgasm-heavy "Make Out Challenge," Sylvie discovers her marriage isn't exactly an Eternity ad - especially when the city's most notorious Husband Huntress zeros in on her spouse. The Debutante Divorcée delivers all the wit and charm that made Bergdorf Blondes a smash hit. This juicy new tale delighted Sykes' many fans in hardcover and will continue to earn her new ones in this dazzling, chic paperback edition.

However, despite the promising description, the book just didn't live up to my expectations.

I used to read her articles in Vogue back in the 1990's.

She always had so many interesting and fun things to say about fashion, pop culture, and the life in NYC.

Her writing style was engaging and full of personality, which made me really enjoy reading her works.

When I got this book, I just devoured it.

I read it on the plane to Puerto Rico and it kept me entertained throughout the entire journey.

There wasn't a single boring moment.

However, if you're not someone who is really into fashion, then you might not find this book as interesting.

You might think that it's just about superficial things and has no real substance.

But for those of us who love fashion and pop culture, this book is a real treat.

It's like a window into the glamorous world of fashion and the people who live and breathe it.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for fashion or is interested in learning more about the latest trends and styles.

Sometimes you just need a book that is light, frothy, and filled with glamour. This book truly takes the cake.

As a writer for Vogue, Plum Sykes has an in-depth knowledge of style and fashion. Her vivid descriptions of clothing, jewels, and fantastic locales are so captivating that they kept me yearning to be a part of the "jet set".

Who would have thought that you could purchase a Portuguese linen, lace-trimmed, hand-sewn pillowcase from Olatz for a mere $600? It's just one of the many luxurious details that add to the allure of the story.

The book also features a happy ending and a beautiful salute to love and marriage, which made it an even more enjoyable read.

Overall, this is a must-read for anyone who loves fashion, glamour, and a feel-good story. It's the perfect escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.

What a piece of junk!

I was informed that it belonged to the genre The Swans of Fifth Avenue, which I adored.

The initial few chapters with their astute observations, profound insights, and vivid descriptions were rather witty and clever.

However, as the story progressed, the characters ceased to make much sense.

All they seemed to talk about was the attire they were wearing and name-dropping.

It's truly astonishing.

I don't believe I have ever awarded a book a one-star rating during my years on Goodreads.

But this particular one is, unfortunately, actual crap.

It's a real disappointment considering my initial expectations based on the genre.

I had hoped for a captivating and engaging read, but instead, I was left with this lackluster and uninteresting piece of work.

It's a pity that such a promising start could lead to such a disappointing conclusion.

Maybe I'll think twice before picking up a book based solely on its genre in the future.

Light, fluffy, and fun - that's what this video is all about. However, it does start off a little slow. But don't let that deter you!

Once the middle part hits and all the players are established, it becomes truly enjoyable. The story unfolds in a way that keeps you engaged and entertained.

I have a strange affection for what I call "quality crap." This particular book fit that description perfectly.

Recently, the main character gets married and befriends a woman who is recently divorced and seemingly loving her new single life. The divorced friend plants the idea in the newlywed's head that her new husband is cheating on her with a woman who is always around him.

As usual, conclusions are reached without any real reason, and this is by far the most annoying aspect of the book for me. However, everything somehow works out in the end. But then again, I suppose there wouldn't be much of a story if drama wasn't introduced out of nowhere.

It's the same old stuff that has been done countless times before. It's nothing new or exciting. Overall, I would give this book a grade of C.

I have no explanation for why I enjoyed this book so much, but I sure did.

It was a wonderful escape from the holiday stress and chaos (and the constant scrimping and saving). Immersing myself in the book's vivid descriptions of limitless wealth, glamorous socializing, exciting traveling, and the thrilling pursuit of men was truly a treat.

I listened to the audiobook, which I highly recommend. The reader, whose identity I'm not sure of, did an amazing job with the accents, effortlessly switching between American and British as if it were the simplest thing in the world.

The plot revolves around Sylvie, a British woman who has just married an American filmmaker (whether he's a director or a producer, I can't quite recall, but he was definitely involved in the film industry in some capacity). She befriends Lauren during their respective honeymoons - Lauren's divorce honeymoon and Sylvie's just-married honeymoon.

Together, they embark on a glamorous journey, wearing expensive designer clothing, jetting off to luxurious resorts around the world, attending extravagant parties, meeting exotic and charming men, and forging and breaking friendships along the way. It's all so captivating and engaging - truly good stuff.

At first, I wasn't really interested in reading it. The reason was that my habit of reading Harlequin novels made it a bit of a mismatch with the language which was sooo chicklit.

However, as I got into the middle, it started to get lively. What made it lively was actually the appearance of the character Sophie, Hunter's coworker who was really cunning and had the reputation of liking to steal other people's husbands.

Sylvie, who knew about Hunter's lies, was confused whether she should be angry with her husband or still trust him, even though it was clear that her husband had told several lies.

Finally, it was revealed that Hunter was lying to prepare a gift for his wife, and the husband didn't realize that he was being trapped by Sophie so that they would look like a couple having an affair.

And Sophie trapped Hunter not because she was interested in Hunter but to cover up her affair with Sophie's friend's husband, Merci.

Tricky ;D
