I came across this item at a thrift shop that supports rescue animals. I purchased it for just $1.

At first glance, it appeared interesting, and indeed it was. I managed to read the entire book.

There were several unexpected plot twists along the way. However, I didn't truly appreciate the quality of the writing.

The whole plot seemed rather far-fetched and focused on the lives of extremely wealthy individuals. They engaged in activities like going on "divorce honeymoons" and their lives revolved around superficial things such as clothes, parties, and yachts.

Overall, this book simply wasn't to my taste. It didn't resonate with me on a deeper level, and I found the subject matter and writing style to be lacking.

Perhaps someone else with a different interest in the lives of the rich and famous might enjoy it more, but for me, it was a pass.

This book was just okay.

It tells the story of a newlywed who relocates to NYC with her extremely wealthy husband. She befriends new super rich individuals, especially one who is outrageously wealthy, and witnesses them squandering their money. The other women are divorced and manage to make that lifestyle appear glamorous. The main character's husband is frequently away on business, and although she herself works for a fashion designer, she still has time to suspect that he might be cheating and envies the divorced lifestyle.

I understand that it's supposed to be a satire of the upper crust, but it just comes across as so trite. None of the characters seem to have any real emotions. They all waste an exorbitant amount of money. I mean, it's just an astronomical amount. It's as if they are constantly devising ways to throw it away, not just by purchasing nice and expensive items or treating themselves, but by buying the most costly things they don't even desire, just for the sake of it.

This is sort of chick lit, but in a negative sense, as you can't relate to any of the characters. It's not particularly funny. However, it's not terrible either, just mediocre. I really struggled to get through it.

I've always had a thing for chick-lit, and I never forget to check out the chick-lit shelf every time I visit the bookstore. So, when I saw this newly translated Plum Sykes novel (well, it's been a long time coming, though), I just had to buy it, since I really loved her previous book, Bergdorf Blondes.

However, OH-GOD, this book is so awful..haha.. It feels like Ms. Sykes has lost her witty side. I enjoyed her heroine in Bergdorf Blondes as a rich and spoiled princess, along with the wealthy society and all of those socialites' lives. But in Bergdorf Blondes, her heroine, even though she was a typical spoiled princess, seemed to have a purpose and was a rather likeable character.

But in Debutante Divorce, Sylvie Mortimer is like an empty shell and too shallow for my taste. She's like yammering throughout the whole book...haha.. Or maybe it's because the story itself somewhat doesn't even have a plot... It feels like watching an overly-rich young woman complaining about her "too harsh" life. And of course, the character lacks personality.

Well, even though Plum didn't lose her "mocking-style" overly superficial dialogue (which I love), the lack of plot and the character's personality makes this book very forgettable.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of reading, reviewing, and surprisingly enjoying Plum Sykes’ Bergdorf Blondes. Now, I can easily say the same for The Debutante Divorcée. In fact, I think I might have even enjoyed this second light and funny novel a little bit more than the first. Although there were still several moments when I felt incredibly frustrated with the characters, Sykes once again brilliantly transported me into the foreign-to-me world of New York society. With an entertaining and diverse cast of characters, she drew me into a twisted yet charming storyline about marriage and divorce.

Despite the fact that their social lives are so far removed from mine, I couldn't help but hope that everything would turn out well for Sylvie and her friends. After all, I do love a good happy ending. Of course, as with Bergdorf Blondes, I understand that this is not the book for everyone. However, I think readers of chick lit will find The Debutante Divorcée a smart and amusing read, and I would highly recommend it.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours, I received a copy of The Debutante Divorcée and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Another one I listened to during my commute. It was just okay. To be honest, I really couldn't relate to the idea of living on the upper west side and wearing diamonds while playing at the beach. Oh, how I wish I could!

Silvia, who has recently tied the knot, becomes friends with the debutante Divorcee. She then relocates to NYC, and suddenly, she is the best friend of everyone she meets. They all act as if they have been friends for years. The chaos commences with husband huntresses and flaky rich girls.

F-bomb warning. This is a piece of chick lit. It requires no thought to read (or listen to). It's a light and easy read that can be enjoyed during a commute or while relaxing at home. However, it may not offer much in terms of depth or substance. But sometimes, that's exactly what you need - a mindless escape from reality.

I didn't get the point of this book.

I really made an effort to like it. I persisted in reading until it became a painful experience. However, the book failed to amuse me. The characters were two-dimensional and lacked depth. I simply couldn't establish any connection with them.

Let's take a look: There is this woman who is in an extremely expensive Mexican resort for her honeymoon. But unfortunately, her husband has left her at the airport for business. She then meets two young, empty-headed, globe-trotting, super-rich, divorced women. They pass their time by doing the things that I assume super-rich globe-trotting women do. They drink alcohol-filled tropical beverages, lounge around sunbathing, gossip, cruise on the water, and wear outrageously expensive designer clothes. And, of course, they talk about their marriages and divorces.

I didn't like these characters. I didn't feel any sense of commonality with them. I couldn't empathize with them. They were just empty women with an abundance of time and money on their hands.

I completely missed out on whatever the author was trying to convey.

Having recently gone through a divorce myself, the title of this book immediately caught my attention. I was in desperate need of a light-hearted and humorous take on divorce. While this book didn't fully meet my expectations in that regard, it did offer me an alternative perspective on how others, perhaps not the most rational of sources, might view divorce.

To truly enjoy this book, I envision myself sitting in a lawn chair, sipping on a fruity martini. It would be the perfect setting to unwind and soak in the author's thoughts and stories. The combination of the relaxing environment and the refreshing drink would enhance my reading experience and allow me to approach the topic of divorce with a more open mind.

Overall, although this book may not have been exactly what I was looking for, it still provided some valuable insights and entertainment. It served as a reminder that there are many different ways to view and cope with divorce, and that sometimes, a little bit of humor and a change of scenery can go a long way.

It was an easy listen, and that was a definite plus. However, I have to admit that I don't stay updated enough on fashion and related topics. As a result, I missed out on most of the references in the book. But still, it served its purpose of passing the time. It wasn't overly terrible or anything. In fact, the narrator was really good. Their performance truly made the book more enjoyable for me. They had a great voice and were able to bring the story to life in a way that held my attention. Even though I didn't fully understand all the fashion references, I was still able to follow the overall plot and get some entertainment value out of it.

I am not entirely certain whether "Bergdorf Blonds" was truly that much superior or if it was simply because I read it at a different juncture in my life.

Do the impossibly wealthy Manhattanites no longer hold any interest for me? Or could it be the state of the economy that has caused this change?

I really have no idea. To be honest, I did like reading the current work, and I even enjoyed the light and fluffy nature of it.

However, I just vividly remember having a greater fondness for "Bergdorf Blonds".

Oh well, such is life.

Perhaps as time passes, our perspectives and preferences change, and what once seemed so appealing may now pale in comparison.

It makes me wonder if I will look back on this moment and feel differently about my current assessment.

Only time will tell.

This is not my "usual" type of book.

However, I had previously read Bergdorf Blondes and had truly enjoyed it.

Based on that experience, I decided that I would give this particular book a chance.

At the moment, my main thought is that I just wanted to get it finished.

I'm not sure what exactly I expect from it, but since I liked the other one, there's a glimmer of hope that this might also have some redeeming qualities.

Maybe as I progress through the pages, it will surprise me and turn out to be something more than I initially thought.

Only time will tell if this was a good decision or not.

This was a quick and light read that provided a glimpse into the lives of the uber rich.

It is a story about Sylvie, a newly married woman who forms a friendship with Lauren, who has just gone through a divorce.

Lauren is attempting to convince herself and those around her that being single or divorced is truly amazing by engaging in all sorts of crazy antics.

She drags Sylvie along on this wild ride, exposing her to a world she may not have otherwise experienced.

As the story unfolds, we see the different perspectives and experiences of both women.

Sylvie, who is still adjusting to married life, finds herself caught up in Lauren's adventures and begins to question some of her own beliefs and values.

Lauren, on the other hand, is using her wild behavior as a way to cope with the end of her marriage and to prove to herself that she can be happy on her own.

Overall, it is an entertaining and engaging story that offers a unique look at the lives of two very different women.

This book was much harder for me to get into than Bergdorf Blondes.

At the beginning, I found it a bit slow-paced and the characters not as immediately engaging. However, I decided to persevere and give it a chance.

As I delved deeper into the story, it started to pick up momentum. The plot began to unfold in an interesting way, revealing hidden secrets and unexpected twists.

And I am glad I stuck it out and finished it because the ending was totally worth it. It tied up all the loose ends and provided a satisfying conclusion.

Overall, it may be considered standard Chick-Lit, but it still had its own charm and entertainment value. It was a light and enjoyable read that kept me engaged until the very end.

I would recommend it to those who enjoy this genre and are willing to invest a little time in getting into the story.
