This took me three months to get through.

I'm not entirely certain if it was truly terrible or if my personal aversion to erotica played a role. After all, Anais Nin is the only author in this genre I've read, aside from some One Direction fan fiction.

However, I can say with confidence that the writers on Wattpad seem to be much more skilled.

Throughout the book, there were sporadic hints of a plot that were ultimately abandoned, leaving me wondering what the purpose was of even starting them.

Most of the sexual acts described in this book were either rape, incest, or pedophilia, with a significant amount of overlap.

There was also a particularly disturbing instance of necrophilia.

After reading this, I had vivid nightmares, and on multiple occasions over the past three months, I thought about giving up on finishing it.

But unfortunately, I have a compulsion to complete books once I've begun them, so I had to persevere.

I am now extremely grateful to finally be free from this book.

AUTHOR WEBCAM!!

-\\tHi there… my name’s Anais, what’s yours?

-\\tOh, er… hi Anais! My name’s Pau---- Manny. My name is Manny.

-\\tHi Manny. How are you tonight?

-\\tOh I'm fine thank you. Er.... you have a great laptop there.

-\\tWhy thank you! It’s a Lenovo Ideapad. Do you think it looks cute?

-\\tOh…yes.

-\\tYou should see the things I can do with it. It's not just a regular laptop, you know. It's my tool for creating magic on the digital canvas. I can bring stories to life, paint vivid pictures with words, and transport readers to different worlds.

-\\tMm hmmm.

-\\tWhat would you like to see me do Manny? Would you like to see me … type? Or…correct a manuscript? Do you want me to call my publisher? I can complain about royalty payments if you want – I complain really well. You know - if you have a publisher we could complain together.

-\\tCould you… could you compose some erotica right now?

-\\tOf course I could, Manny! Now, would you like that to be in long luxurious leisurely sentences with metaphors clustered like grapes hanging from a vine turning golden pale in the Tuscany sun? Or would you like it to be urgent, short, sharp, like a James Ellroy sex doll, no word over four letters?

-\\tPlease… just do what you feel you’re into, Anais.

-\\tWhy thank you Manny, you’re a gentleman. All right. Let's see now... I'll let my imagination run wild and see what comes out. Maybe it'll be a story that makes your heart race and your mind wander.

**Trigger Warning** Incest, rape, and bestiality

Delta of Venus is a compilation of short stories penned by Anais Nin.

Most of these stories are interconnected through the same character or characters. Written in the 1960s, they were commissioned and provided to a wealthy collector who was enamored with the style and sexuality of the writings.

Although not Anais's preferred scripts, they did generate a可观的 income for her.

We can only surmise that these stories were customized to the collector's desires. They are highly sexual in nature, yet the acts themselves are not overly graphic or detailed.

Often, phrases like'she threw herself onto him' or 'he found the valley between her legs' are as descriptive as it gets. The true sexuality stems from the forbidden nature of things, whether it be external lovers, public situations, taboo thoughts, or a plethora of partners.

Perhaps Anais was one of the pioneering writers who have today evolved into smut or BDSM authors. She hailed from an era when women were subservient to men in the household, with the man being the breadwinner and the woman the housewife.

However, as an author, she did not adhere to that path. Surprisingly, some of her female characters are very much cast in that mold, while others are more closely associated with the author herself.

In these stories, both men and women come and go as they please, following their true sexual urges, and most do so selfishly.

I adored the style of the writing. It was such a blend of elegance and depravity, social and aloof, giving the impression that Anais was in tune with human nature.

The only thing preventing this book from receiving a 5-star review from me is the aforementioned trigger warnings. There are certain things that I struggle with, and at times, disguising them as art truly bothers me.

Case in point, photographers of naked children.

Tee hee.

This simple expression of laughter holds a certain charm. It can convey a sense of lightheartedness and playfulness. When we hear someone say "tee hee," it often brings a smile to our own faces.

It might be used in a variety of situations. Maybe it's in response to a funny joke, a silly incident, or just a moment of shared amusement. It has a way of brightening up the atmosphere and creating a sense of connection between people.

Sometimes, "tee hee" can even be a bit mischievous. It might hint at a secret or a prank that's about to be played. It adds an element of mystery and excitement to the moment.

In conclusion, "tee hee" is a small but powerful expression that can have a big impact. It can make us laugh, bring us closer together, and add a touch of fun to our lives. So the next time you hear someone say "tee hee," join in on the laughter and enjoy the moment.

I read "Delta of Venus" in short batches, and as a result, it took me a few months to complete.

I would only pick it up and read from it when I was in a particular mood.

I didn't have the urge to devour it like a typical novel. Instead, I relished it spoon by spoon, savoring each and every word.

This book is truly sensual and poetic. It offers a much more refined and sophisticated experience compared to some of the more popular erotica books on the market.

It delves deeper into the human psyche and explores the realm of desire in a more profound and meaningful way.

Overall, I found "Delta of Venus" to be a captivating and unique read that left a lasting impression on me.

It's not just about the physical aspects of sexuality; it's about the emotions, the fantasies, and the inner world of the characters.

If you're looking for something different in the world of erotica, I highly recommend giving this book a try.

Anais Nin, a broke writer at one point, found herself penning pornographic material for an anonymous collector who continuously pressured her to write less of the literary mumbo-jumbo and more of the straightforward "in and out" stuff. This infuriated Nin as she believed he was stripping away all the interesting aspects of sex. Interestingly, this same debate persists today regarding internet porn.

She seemed to take out her frustration by punishing him, or perhaps by extension, us. In one of her stories, a woman has an erotic opium experience that is, I suppose, rather steamy. But then, suddenly, it's like "And then the guy almost slashed her vagina up because he was a psycho! The end." It's as if Nin is taunting, "Ha ha, I killed your boner."

In the first story, a charming man, much like The Most Interesting Man in the World from the Dos Equis commercials, grows bored with ordinary sex and begins seeking increasingly perverse experiences. The initial part, where a hot singer goes around to private booths after her act and engages in certain activities, is again, quite hot. But by the end of the story, he's attempting to shove his cock into his sleeping preteen son's mouth. Well, there goes your boner!

The escalation in his behavior brings up another ongoing debate. Some anti-porn advocates claim that the prevalence of porn leads people to search for ever-more-extreme forms in order to find something novel. However, based on my personal experience, this has not been the case.

These rather nasty twists in Nin's work are not often discussed. We all want to see Nin as the audacious, brilliant, and empowered writer of smut that she is. But it's important to be aware that she doesn't always align with our sexual desires. This book is like a porno version of a kitty that rolls on its back for you, and when you reach out to rub its stomach, it shreds your hand without warning. And yet, we never seem to learn.

I was unable to complete the content in the stories from the pitcher. I stopped at page 91.

It seems that there was something that prevented me from going further. Maybe it was the complexity of the plot or the lack of understanding of certain concepts.

However, I still found the stories quite interesting up to that point. The characters were well-developed and the descriptions were vivid.

I hope to have the opportunity to come back to it and finish reading the remaining pages in the future.

Maybe then, I will be able to fully appreciate the beauty and depth of the stories.

Oooh, sexthings. Macabre sex things. How fascinating they are! It's like opening a door to a mysterious and dark world.

Among them, Mathilde stands out. There's something about her that draws you in, perhaps a hint of mystery in her eyes.

The Ring is also quite captivating. It holds a certain allure, as if it has a story to tell.

Elena is another one that catches the attention. Her presence is both alluring and a bit disturbing, in a strange and wonderful way.

The Basque and the Bijou add to the overall macabre charm. They are like pieces of a puzzle that fit together to create a unique and unforgettable experience.

Overall, these macabre sex things offer a thrilling and exciting exploration of the darker side of human nature. It's a journey that I'm more than willing to take again and again.

In April 1940, a book collector proposed to Henry Miller to pay him one hundred dollars a month to write erotic stories. Months later, Henry shared this proposal with Anaïs Nin, his partner, who agreed to substitute him for a few weeks in this so-called "disreputable" task. Anaïs wrote beautiful tales where poetry and sex intertwined. However, the collector didn't want poetry. Only the carnal, the hunger, and the excitement interested him. His demands almost destroyed the relationship between the two authors, for whom sex lost all its power when it was abusive, explicit, and "mechanically obsessive". Years later, in a reflection on the absence of a female language in matters of sexuality, Anaïs retrieved the tales written for the collector and thus emerged this provocative Delta of Venus.

From what has been exposed above, one can guess that Delta of Venus is a book for adults. Its content is sexual and quite explicit. It is pornography. However, and I never expected to say this, it is -literarily speaking- good pornography. Anaïs' language is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. An elegant, subtle, and poetic writing that explores female sexuality without taboos. There are about 15 tales that leave no fetish, paraphilia, or fantasy unharmed. It is a book that shatters the barriers of what is socially defined as right or wrong. For this reason, it is not for everyone. In fact, I dare say that it is for very few, given its libertine incursions.

A controversial book in the style of the Marquis de Sade, Henry Miller, or Nabokov. For those who like to test the limits of their relationship with art.

Good porn!

There are indeed far too many unrealistic female orgasms in it, but still, it's good porn.

After all, for just one euro in the thrift store of Ypres, you really can't be too picky.

Pornography has always been a controversial topic. Some people believe that it can provide a certain form of sexual stimulation and entertainment, while others think it has a negative impact on society and individuals.

In this case, although the porn in question may have some flaws in terms of the portrayal of female orgasms, it still manages to offer something that satisfies the viewer to a certain extent.

Moreover, considering the price of only one euro in the thrift store, it becomes even more understandable that one might not expect perfection.

However, it's important to note that we should always view pornography with a rational and objective attitude and not let it have a negative impact on our lives and values.

Lush and exotic, this remarkable collection features Nin's sophisticated and sensual erotica.

Originally penned at a dollar a page for a collector, her works are a testament to her unrestrained imagination.

She defies the bounds of convention and morality, instead focusing on crafting mood and feeling rather than simply描绘wham-bam sexual activity.

The stories vary in length, detail, and sense of completion, presenting a similar fragmented quality as seen in other modernists of the first half of the twentieth century.

Undoubtedly, this collection leans towards the more literary end of the erotic spectrum, offering readers a unique and thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche and desires.

It invites us to step into Nin's world, where boundaries are blurred and the power of imagination reigns supreme.

Whether you are a lover of literature or simply curious about the erotic, this collection is sure to captivate and inspire.

This was profoundly disappointing.

Is this really the same Anais Nin who penned the masterpiece that is 'House of Incest'? I did take the time to read the preface, and I do understand the reasons why this work isn't as wonderfully sublime as the former. However, despite that knowledge, this was still so, so disappointing.

It seems almost impossible to reconcile this lackluster effort with the genius that produced such a remarkable piece as 'House of Incest'. One can't help but wonder what went wrong.

A detailed review will be coming soon, as I feel the need to explore this further and try to make sense of this vast disparity in quality.

Perhaps there were external factors at play, or maybe Nin was in a different state of mind when creating this work. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that this falls far short of the expectations set by her earlier masterpiece.
