I really liked this book a great deal. However, here's a warning: it is extremely long. I'm not joking at all. It seems to go on and on forever. But despite its length, it is a wonderful adventure story. It also falls into the category of good historical fiction. The plot is engaging and the characters are well-developed. I found myself completely immersed in the story as I read it. I truly enjoyed it a lot. In fact, if I ever had an abundance of time to spare, I would love to read the entire series. I'm sure there are many more exciting adventures and interesting historical details waiting for me in the other books of the series.
I only read Clan of the Cave Bear. Well, actually, I listened to it on CD. It was truly an interesting experience. The story had many parts that were a bit slow-paced, but that didn't stop me from really getting to like the characters.
The detailed descriptions of the prehistoric setting and the unique ways of life of the cave people were fascinating. As I listened, I could picture the cold caves, the primitive tools, and the harsh environment they lived in.
The characters in the book were well-developed. Each one had their own distinct personality and backstory. I found myself empathizing with their struggles and joys.
Overall, although the pacing in some parts was slow, Clan of the Cave Bear was a captivating read (or listen in my case). It gave me a glimpse into a world that was so different from our own and made me appreciate the complexity of human nature even in the most primitive of settings.
Addicting series of books! The author is truly a great story teller, making it a fast and engaging read. You simply have to read them in sequence to fully appreciate the narrative. These books offer very visual accounts of early Cro-Magnon man in both eastern Asia and Europe. It delves into their lives, their ways of survival, and the fascinating period when they coexisted with the Neanderthals. The question of whether some of us are their descendants is also raised, adding an element of mystery and speculation. It's a captivating exploration of our ancient past that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
