I truly love these books. They have this amazing ability to make me burst out laughing seriously. It's like a magical charm that they possess. And let me tell you, I am constantly in a state of dilemma when it comes to Ranger and Morelli. Oh my goodness, they are both so delicious in their own ways. Ranger with his mysterious and dangerous allure, and Morelli with his charming and familiar presence. It's like a battle in my heart, trying to decide which one I prefer. But you know what? It doesn't really matter because both of them add so much excitement and flavor to the story. I just can't get enough of these books and the wonderful world they create.
Eleven on Top is the eleventh captivating novel in the Stephanie Plum series penned by Janet Evanovich. In this installment, Stephanie finds herself in a rather precarious situation. After yet another one of her cars gets blown up, she decides to quit her job as a bounty hunter. She yearns for a safer occupation where she won't have to face the constant threats of being shot at, having her apartment broken into, or her cars exploding. This leads her on a comical job-hopping spree. She starts working at a button factory but gets fired on her first day for being three hours late. Then she moves on to a dry cleaners, which lasts until the second day when she is shot at by a psychotic old lady and promptly fired. Next, she tries her hand at a fast food restaurant, only to manage to burn it to the ground on her very first night working there. Finally, she ends up working as an office administrator for Ranger's security company.
However, it seems that quitting as a bounty hunter wasn't as easy as she thought. Someone has a serious grudge against Stephanie and wants her dead. Despite the numerous challenges and threats, Stephanie's adventures continue to amuse and entertain. There are countless hilarious and witty scenes throughout the book that will have readers laughing out loud. But I must admit that I was a bit irritated by Stephanie in this particular installment. I really wish she would finally make a choice between Joe Morelli and Ranger. What's more, she actually cheats on Joe in this book, which I found quite out of character for her. After all, Stephanie had always been against cheaters, especially since her ex-husband had cheated on her with one of her best friends. And now, here she is, cheating herself?
Overall, I would rate this book 2.5 stars. It has its moments of hilarity and excitement, but Stephanie's actions and decisions left me a bit disappointed.
I have a great passion for reading Janet Evanovich's Plum novels. These novels are filled with unique and quirky mysteries that always manage to capture my attention. However, this particular one didn't quite make it to the top of my favorites list. Nevertheless, it was still a relatively quick read, which was nice. I truly enjoy the characters in these novels and their hilarious antics. What makes these books even more interesting is that they can be read as stand-alone stories, yet the same characters are mentioned throughout each book in the series. This aspect really adds to the overall charm of the novels and makes it feel like a continuous and interconnected world.
The story remains funny and enjoyable, yet the repetition of the same jokes is beginning to feel a bit tiresome. Additionally, I'm not entirely satisfied with the way Stephanie is attempting to juggle the two men in her life. It seems rather obvious that she should just make a choice already.
I've decided that I'm going to take a short break and explore something else to read. I'll come back to this series at a later time when I'm in the mood for something light and entertaining again.
Sometimes, it's important to step away and give oneself a chance to recharge. This way, when I return to the series, I'll be able to appreciate it with a fresh perspective and perhaps find new aspects to enjoy.
