Reread in 2024 for the Outlander Readalong

I have an unwavering and profound love for this family. It's a love that consumes my entire being, reaching into the very depths of my soul.

Every single time, without hesitation or reservation, I am more than willing to go to the mat for them. I will fight tooth and nail, do whatever it takes to protect and support them.

This family means the world to me, and my loyalty and dedication to them knows no bounds. It's a connection that is so strong and unbreakable, and I cherish it with all my heart.

6 stars.

First read 2007

I have truly fallen head over heels in love with this series. I initially purchased all the books in paperback and then passed them on to a friend. However, my love for this series was so great that I just had to buy them all in hardback as well. I know for a fact that I will be reading them again and again.

I completed reading this particular book last night. After that, I joined a Yahoo group dedicated to people who share the same passion for these books. To my absolute delight, I discovered that there are more books in the series on the way! I had thought that this was the end. Sadly, I have to wait until the end of 2008 for the next installment. But reading all of these books in one go has made me feel as if I have a deep understanding of the characters and I am completely invested in their stories.

I can't wait to see what adventures and developments await the characters in the upcoming books. This series has truly captured my heart and imagination.

I am sad to say that I got bored while reading this series.

The first book showed some promise, but it was already overly long.

"A Breath of Snow and Ashes" is truly exhausting to read.

Believe me, if you are not interested in history or don't enjoy long reads, this book is definitely not for you.

It seems that as the series progresses, the story becomes more convoluted and less engaging.

The author may have tried to cram in too much detail, which ended up overwhelming the reader.

Perhaps if the books were more concise and focused, they would have been more enjoyable.

Overall, I was disappointed with this series and would not recommend it to others who are not fans of long historical novels.

The only thing I can say at the moment is waooooo I loved it... It was a long read, but it was worth it. This is the second book of the saga that I give 5 stars.

I was completely immersed in the story from the very beginning. The author has created a vivid and engaging world that kept me hooked until the very end. The characters are well-developed and their relationships are complex and interesting.

The plot is full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what was going to happen next, which made it even more exciting to read. The writing style is流畅 and easy to follow, which made it a pleasure to read.

Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good adventure story. It's definitely one of the best books I've read in a long time.

A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon is the sixth book in the Outlander series. If you thought the previous book was slow, get ready to be amazed by this one. I won't give away any spoilers, but there are many twists and turns. Someone gets revenge, someone dies, and others pass through the stones. There are also new babies born and a heartbreaking incident that will have you reaching for the tissues. This instalment is emotional and character-changing. It answers many questions but also leaves you with new ones. The author is both brilliant and cruel. The book is a historical fiction/romance told from Claire's first-person point of view. The audio version, narrated by Davina Porter, is 57 hours and 46 minutes long. The audio books in this series keep getting longer, but Davina Porter's performance is always excellent. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has followed Jamie and Claire's epic story. It's a must-read/listen.

So, you thought the last book in the series was slow. Be prepared to be blown out of the water with the next instalment of the Outlander series.

I refuse to give out any detailed spoilers so I will keep it as vague as possible.
Someone will get their Revenge, someone will meet their death, someone or ones pass back through the stones, a devastating discovery is made, more babies are born and a heartbreaking incident will have you emptying your tissue stash.

This instalment is emotional, it’s character changing and it’s just bloody brilliant. Jesus H Roosevelt Christ Diana you answered so many mysterious unknowns in this instalment but then left me with a handful of new ones. Why would you be so cruel?

Finally, there is a good Outlander book again (after the fifth volume was very weak). I like Brianna again finally. Roger also became a little more "manly" and Jamie is still the best <3.

This new installment in the Outlander series has truly brought back the magic that made the earlier books so beloved. The character development is excellent. Brianna has come into her own, showing strength and determination that makes her a more engaging character. Roger's transformation into a more masculine figure is a welcome change, adding depth to his character. And of course, Jamie Fraser remains the heart and soul of the series. His charm, wit, and unwavering loyalty continue to captivate readers.

The story itself is filled with adventure, romance, and mystery. It takes the reader on a thrilling journey through time and space, keeping them on the edge of their seat from beginning to end. Fans of the series will not be disappointed with this latest offering. It is a must-read for anyone who loves historical fiction, romance, and adventure.

Time is often regarded by many as something that shares characteristics with what people say God is.

It has always been preexisting and has no end. There is also the concept of being all-powerful, for nothing can truly stand against time. Mountains may erode, and armies may fall, but time marches on.

Moreover, time is considered all-healing. Given sufficient time, everything is taken care of. All pain is encompassed, all hardships are erased, and all loss is subsumed.

As the saying goes, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Remember, man, that thou art dust; and unto dust thou shalt return."

If Time is in any way akin to God, then perhaps Memory must be the Devil.

The above is truly the best prologue ever written. This review is being composed after my second reading of ABOSAA. The first time around, I was so eager to finish the series that I didn't stop to write a review. To be honest, during my initial reading, it felt rather drawn out, especially considering it's a 1400+ page novel. However, this time, I couldn't get enough of it. Even though I was already aware of what was going to happen, I wasn't in a rush to find out and was able to fully appreciate it for what it was.

So much occurs in this book (much like in the other books, of course), and the sheer length alone makes it clear from the beginning that some seriously significant events are going to take place. I don't write spoiler reviews, but if I were to do so, I'd have to write a novella just to paraphrase all that this book encompasses. I laughed and cried even harder the second time. Knowing what was coming didn't make it any less impactful.

People, you simply must read these books. It's an absolute must.

To quote a dear friend of mine, Diana is back on track with this one! The sixth installment in the Outlander series, for me, had a somewhat sluggish start. However, I soon found myself irresistibly drawn in once more. There is an abundance of romance and a great deal of drama unfolding on Fraser's Ridge. Jamie, Claire, their family, and friends are all gearing up for the approaching Revolutionary War. The anticipation and the underlying tensions are palpable. And damn Diana for making me like Brianna after I was so thoroughly annoyed with her in Fiery Cross. It truly is remarkable when writers have the ability to completely change your perspective regarding the characters. It shows their skill and finesse in crafting a complex and engaging story. I can't wait to see what else lies ahead in this captivating series.

I feel as if I have already written a comprehensive review, especially with all the updates I've done!! But where should I truly start? Well, we all know that these books are quite long. On average, it takes me about three weeks to read each one. So, you really have to be dedicated to this genre and the writing style in order to fully appreciate them.

Jamie and Claire are residing in North Carolina. Their passion remains as alive as ever, and their love is still as true as can be. I absolutely adore this couple. It has been a joy to watch them grow older together.

The story in this book is filled with numerous events, and some of the questions from the previous books are finally answered. Diana Gabaldon's writing is extremely descriptive, and she pays an incredible amount of attention to detail. For instance, there was a part where Claire was making Black Pudding, and I swear to God that after reading that, I thought I would never touch the stuff again! But I know that I probably will, I just don't want to know the details of how it's made anymore.

Roger and Brianna were also wonderful characters, and wee Jemmy was such a delight! I really loved him. I won't disclose too much more as it would give away important plot points and spoil the reading experience for others. Or it might even spoil the TV show for those who haven't read the books yet. The books offer so much more than what I can convey in this review. There are many other characters like Ian, Lizzie, the twins, Malva, the Bugs, Lord John, Bonnet, Jocasta, and many more. Some pieces of the puzzle are put together in this book, while others are left for us to discover in the next installments. I must give credit to Lizzie for her unique "way" of ensuring that she got what she wanted. Apologies for bombarding you with so many updates!

What a damnably suffering book!

It seems that Diana hates her characters, especially Claire, because they all suffered so much in this book. They go through a whole bunch of things, many blows in their lives, and then you see the strength they have in recovering.

I liked the first epilogue, very beautiful and the fact that Jamie dreamed of something so real.

I have no words to describe how much I cried, how much this book impressed and loved me.

"— If one day, a bhailach — said Jamie in a natural tone—, you were to come across a very large rat called Mickey, tell him your grandfather sends his greetings. — Then he opened his hand and let it go, and made a gesture to Roger."

This book is truly a masterpiece. The vivid descriptions and the complex relationships between the characters make it a captivating read. The suffering they endure only makes their growth and recovery all the more powerful. It's a story that will stay with you long after you've finished reading it.

The remote newspaper clipping still looms over their heads like a guillotine. It's the curse of having time-travelers in the family. Jamie has a chance to follow ideals and be on the winning side, not just for his family but for all those depending on him. But they sense the powder and violence in the air, and dangers are approaching.

Claire goes through a lot in this book. At first, I was angry with her attitude towards Lord John, but I soon forgave her. She endures despicable things, and I hoped someone would reach her in time. Claire and Jamie are an amazing couple, understanding each other and unable to imagine a world without the other.

Roger and Brianna also have an emotional journey. Roger finds his purpose, while Bree gets involved with despicable people. They have to risk everything to save a loved one.

The storyline of Lizzie is the most surprising. Malva was Claire's apprentice, but things took a turn for the worse. Ian's time with the Mohawks breaks my heart. Jemmy and Germain are adorable, and Jemmy has a sweet scene that made me cry. Fergus has an inner struggle, but he eventually finds a path to happiness with his family. And Lord John is amazing.

Overall, it's hard to convey my love for this series. This book is massive, full of stories, character developments, twists, and turns. We have the unique opportunity to read about their lives, and it's a worthy ride.
