5 Stars for A Breath of Snow and Ashes: Outlander, Book 6 (audiobook) by Diana Gabaldon read by Davina Porter and Geraldine James.
I don't even know where to begin. This story is truly epic in scale, taking the reader on a wild and unforgettable journey. Yet, at times, it can be brutally honest and heart-wrenching. The audiobook, which clocks in at a whopping 57 hours, is a testament to the depth and complexity of the story. I'm someone who usually blazes through an audiobook in a single day, but this one had me pacing myself over the course of a week. And yet, for some inexplicable reason, the story never once felt bogged down or拖沓. In fact, I was completely hooked from start to finish. I'm so invested in these characters and their lives that I've decided to pace myself and only read one Outlander book a year. It's a decision that I know will be well worth it in the long run, as I get to savor every moment of this amazing series.
Firstly, I have watched the Outlander Netflix series. I was completely captivated by it and liked it so very much. As a result, I decided to explore the books as well. I chose to listen to them on Audible. There are indeed some differences between the book and the Netflix series. It has been truly interesting to discover and understand these differences.
In my opinion, the audiobook was narrated extremely well. I could clearly hear a Scottish accent, or at least that's what I thought it sounded like. After all, I am not Scottish myself. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the story to life.
I loved this audiobook to the bits. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is seeking an excellent storyline to enhance and fulfill their daily lives. It offers a wonderful escape into a world of adventure, romance, and history. Whether you are a fan of the Netflix series or simply looking for a great listen, this audiobook is definitely worth checking out.
Rewrite and expand the article:
Prepare for battle - sex scene - Claires in danger - Jamie saves her - sex scene - prepare for battle etc etc. This seems to be the never-ending cycle of the story. The charming Scottish scenery and the forbidden love that initially captivated me in the first book have long since faded away. Even the time travel aspects, which were once novel and exciting, now seem passé. This latest episode feels as stale as a marriage between two fifty-somethings living in social isolation. It's a disappointment, really. I expected more from this series. But alas, it seems to have lost its charm and become a predictable and tiresome repetition of the same old plot elements.
Copy + paste. Copy + paste. Copy + paste. That's all this series is, honestly. I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to watch or read. It's time for something new and fresh to come along and reignite my interest.

What a joy it is to take advantage of my vacation to immerse myself for hours each day in a volume of Outlander! It is a work with an uneven rhythm, as is often the case with Gabaldon. And although I found the heart of the novel rather hollow, the beginning is powerful and the last third, oh my, just brilliant! It has revived my enthusiasm for the saga after a very "everyday" fifth volume - here the adventures are plentiful, and my heart has clenched at the sight of the difficult decisions that the characters face... I love the turn that the events have taken, in any case: they presage an interesting continuation.
I have been listening to the audiobook according to the moments, which has added an extra dimension to my reading experience. The narrator's voice brings the story to life, making it even more engaging. I can't wait to see what happens next in this captivating saga.
Whew. That was an intense experience, more than a marathon indeed. What is that Olympic sport where they ski and shoot? Well, this book is like that, but with added challenges such as finding a needle in a haystack, cutting gum from your hair, trying to remove blood stains from every item of clothing you wear every day for 6 months, participating in a spelling bee in a language you don't speak, and running for president in a country on another planet. Whew.
There is so much going on here. So much! I've sort of developed a bit more of an affection for Roger, but really, not that much. He's still a rather lazy and entitled jerk. However, I've definitely grown to love Brianna more. She's such a doer, unstoppable. Jaime and Claire, I love both of you to the ends of your crazy hairs. Jem, you really need to grow up. And the BUGS! Oh my God. I'm completely destroyed. Malva, I cry for you. I LOVE YOU MALVA! (By the way, my mother's first name is Melva, named after an uncle Melvin. Gross, right? She hates it too. But now Malva is Melva and Melva is Malva for me. Uma meet Oprah, Oprah meet Uma.)
Now, I'm onto my re-read of book 8. I'll probably watch the whole first half of the Starz season tonight. Well, not really as it's getting late, but *sigh* I love this series. Despite its flaws, it's a wonderful series about the love, loyalty, courage, and power of family.
