Love is such a beautiful thing. It has the power to make our hearts soar and our souls shine. When we are in love, everything seems brighter and more wonderful.

We feel a connection with someone that is deeper than words can describe. It's like a magical bond that ties us together.

The way they look at us, the way they smile, it all makes our hearts skip a beat.

We want to be with them all the time, sharing every moment, every joy, and every sorrow.

Love gives us the courage to face anything, to take risks, and to follow our dreams.

It makes us believe that anything is possible.

And even when times are tough, love is there to hold us up and keep us going.

It's a feeling that lasts a lifetime, a love that never fades.

We should cherish every moment of love and never take it for granted.

Because love is truly a gift that makes our lives complete.

I really liked the pastel chalks that were utilized for the illustrations in this book.

They imparted a warm and glowing feel to the entire work, making it visually appealing and inviting.

However, just like in Billy's first children's book, I thought some of the rhyming was a bit awkward.

For instance, the lines "You really like your toes a lot—you found them yesterday. Although you have a lot of toys, it’s with those toes you’d rather play" seemed a bit forced.

Nonetheless, there were some really great pictures in the book.

The best one, in my opinion, was of grandpa changing a dirty diaper. The disgusted look on his face was truly hilarious and added a touch of humor to the story.

The picture of him with his granddaughter kissing the mirror was also extremely cute and heartwarming.

I also liked the goofy swimming picture where she was spraying grandpa in the face while he had on goggles.

The accompanying text "I’m glad it was hot out so we could go swimming in the pool. I love to watch you do new things—all you used to do was drool" added to the charm of the image.

Overall, despite the awkward rhyming in some parts, the book had its亮点 and was an enjoyable read.

Another book that I've given as gifts to grandparents with a great response is "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.

This simple yet profound story tells of a tree that loves a little boy and gives him everything he needs throughout his life.

The beautiful illustrations and touching narrative make it a perfect gift for grandparents.

They can share the story with their grandchildren and pass on the message of love and sacrifice.

My grandparents were extremely pleased with the book and have since read it multiple times.

It has become a cherished addition to their library and a source of inspiration for them.

I highly recommend this book as a gift for grandparents or anyone who loves a good story.

It is sure to bring a smile to their face and warm their hearts.

This truly made me ugly cry.

It is such a beautiful, beautiful portrayal of a baby's first year with their Grandpa.

The relationship between a child and their Grandpa is something that is truly sacred and special.

It is a bond that can only be fully understood by the child and their Grandpa themselves.

There is something so unique and precious about the moments they share, the smiles they exchange, and the love that is palpable.

This piece really captured the essence of that relationship and it made my heart full.

I absolutely loved it and it will stay with me for a long time.

It serves as a reminder of the importance of family and the special connections that we form with our loved ones.

This is a truly sweet story that beautifully captures the sentimental thoughts a grandfather has for his very first grandchild during her first year of life.

The story is told in a charming rhyme that varies, adding an extra layer of musicality and rhythm to the narrative.

Accompanied by fabulous illustrations, it vividly depicts many memorable events that occur throughout the year.

From the moment the grandchild is born, the grandfather's heart is filled with love and wonder.

We see the grandfather holding the baby for the first time, his face beaming with joy.

As the year progresses, there are scenes of the grandchild learning to crawl, smile, and take her first steps.

The illustrations bring these moments to life, making them seem almost real.

It's a story that will warm the hearts of readers of all ages and remind them of the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren.

Mommy's review from 9/20/11 -

I should first mention that I am a Billy Crystal fan. I had no idea he had written a children's book, so when I happened to see this at the library, I knew I'd give it a read.

However, it didn't live up to my expectations.

First, we listened to this on audio, with Crystal himself reading, while we followed along. He reads way too fast. Way, way too fast. As in, I barely had time to turn the page before he was off and running. We had no time to process the previous passages before we were halfway through the next one. That really hindered the entire process, if anyone asks me.

The thought behind the book is beautiful, of course. It's about a Grandfather reliving and relishing the first year of his Granddaughter's life. There are some really sensitive and adorable pieces to the book. I also liked how the illustrated Crystal resembles the real life Crystal. That was different and kind of cool.

Overall, I hope if Crystal is going to write more and include his own audio, he slows it down. It really is unbelievably fast. If I couldn't keep up, how is a child going to?

Though this book would obviously be a great read for grandpa to grandchild,

it also had a profound impact on me, reminding me about the joys of motherhood.

The 'shiny' mentioned in the book, in fact, put a little shiny in MY eye.

Childhood is a precious time that slips by all too quickly.

During those hard moments, it can be extremely difficult to remember this and make the most of the good ones.

However, this book serves as a gentle reminder to cherish every moment with our children and to look for the 'shiny' in the ordinary.

It encourages us to slow down and appreciate the simple joys of motherhood, such as a child's smile, a hug, or a shared story.

By doing so, we can create lasting memories and build a strong bond with our children that will last a lifetime.

Overall, this book is not only a great read for the younger generation but also a valuable source of inspiration for mothers everywhere.
