Every time I read this book I love it; no wonder I can't give it away. It's such a mix of happy and sad, funny and aggravating (really just one character was aggravating but she was meant to be). I love the love stories and the relationships...just love it all. Will read it again some day. It's a keeper.
Why do I kleep reading her books?? They a the book version of sleeping pills.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, ever happens in her books!!! it's like trying to read "days of our lives" where it takes 10 episodes before they done with one cup of coffee.
A 3 -1/2 stars. I really wanted to love this, as I do almost anything from Rosamunde Pilcher and Maeve Binchey. Since some of the reviews did compare this author to these two favorites of mine, I dove in with high hopes. My biggest problem is the whole premise behind the title story = so unbelievable! Not going to give anything away here. The characters were very likable, except for Sarina (she played her part very well though!), but a tad two dimensional. The settings were described beautifully, the dialogue very Pilcheresque (sorry). It was just lacking in the feels I get from the other authors. Anyway, it got me through a very long month and a half of a terrible winter. Not sure if I will give Ms. Willet's work another shot.
3 1/2 stars. I enjoyed parts of this book but it was a little uneven. Similar to Rosamunde Pilcher in feel but somehow not all the characters worked for me. The storyline with Melissa though—loved her!
What a delight. This is totally my kind of book. It reminds me a lot of Winter Solstice by Rosamund Pilcher. Great characters, each with their own story but sharing connections to each other. Great setting, Cornwall, with an enchanted house called Moorgate. And by the end, each of the stories is resolved, although some more than others. I loved this book.
Like Maeve Binchy's books, Marcia Willett's stories are similar to Rosamunde Pilcher but there's something missing. Not sure what: too dark, don't connect or like her main characters, I don't know but after trying several of both of these authors' books, they're not my cup of tea.
