MARAVILLA(5/5)

Well, this text is the first thing I've read from the very famous master of terror, Stephen King. I'm not really into reading terror, so I never had the courage to pick up his novels. But I discovered this short story in the catalog of Nørdica, and I loved it.

It's a sometimes-delirious story in which a couple who is going to divorce meets at a famous café in NY with their lawyer. From there, a lot happens...

It's very entertaining and can be read in no time. Moreover, the edition is a gem. Hardcover, colorful bookmarks, good paper, and marvelously illustrated by Javier Olivares.

What will you find in this book? The perfect book for that great combination of tea + sofa + blanket.

A book that I have really loved. It follows very much in the line of King. In it, we see what happens during a divorce negotiation where the waiter at the meeting place goes crazy. It has fascinated me.

This story takes the reader on a thrilling journey. The description of the divorce negotiation is detailed and tense, making you feel as if you are right there in the room. The unexpected twist of the waiter going crazy adds an element of mystery and excitement.

The author's writing style is engaging and keeps you hooked from beginning to end. You can't help but wonder what will happen next and how the characters will deal with the situation. It's a book that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery or thriller.

The story presented here is an interesting one. It has its own charm and elements that keep the reader engaged. However, it might not be a perfect 5-star masterpiece. There are areas where it could be improved or developed further.

Audio 4 stars**

The audio version of this story is of high quality. The sound effects and the overall production add to the listening experience. It makes the story come alive in a different way.

Narrator Stephen King

Stephen King, as the narrator, brings his own unique style and talent to the table. His voice and delivery enhance the story and make it even more captivating. His presence as the narrator is a great asset to this audio production.

Overall, this combination of story, audio, and narrator makes for an enjoyable experience. While the story might have some room for improvement, the audio and the narrator more than make up for it. It is definitely worth checking out for those who enjoy a good story and a great audio experience.

You read this story and from the very beginning, you sense that something is amiss with the lawyer. The way he casually refers to his client's soon-to-be ex as Steve instead of Mr. Davis, his request for a lunch, and the smug expression on his face when he hears that Steve's lawyer couldn't make it due to a close family member suffering a severe injury. But as it turns out, it's not the lawyer who one should be watching closely. It's the freaking bat shit crazy host, or Maitre.

Guy, that's the name of the Maitre, approaches their table and suddenly starts screaming about a dog. Then, to everyone's horror, he pulls out a knife and kills the lawyer. Steve and his wife immediately flee from the deranged man. In his panic, Steve shouts at her to open the bolts of a door, but she is also panicking and screaming. Understandably frustrated, as the guy is coming at him with a knife and he's trying to defend himself with a mop, Steve yells, "Open the damn door you useless bitch!" This angers his wife, and she actually kicks Steve's ass. Somehow, Steve manages to overpower the nut job, and they finally make it outside and are safe. But even after he just saved her life, she continues to be hateful and insulting towards him. She lies and tells him that she had other lovers who were all better than him, and then walks away as he screams, "I SAVED YOUR LIFE!"

Later on, Steve is smoking a cigarette and starts to wonder what could have driven the guy insane. The ending seems to hint that all the things Steve has been through lately are also starting to make him go a bit crazy.

I truly enjoyed this story. I felt a great deal of empathy towards Steve. I can vividly imagine what it must be like to love someone who has transformed into such a hateful person.

The story is okay. I liked the part of the master and that sort of thing.

However, the protagonist makes me very nervous being so horny all the time in every possible situation. For God's sake, calm down already.

The master's character added an interesting element to the narrative. His actions and interactions with the protagonist created a certain tension.

But the protagonist's constant state of horniness became a bit excessive. It seemed that no matter what was happening, she was always thinking about sexual matters.

This made it difficult for me to fully engage with the story at times. I felt that the focus on her horniness overshadowed other aspects of the plot and character development.

Overall, the story had its good points, but the protagonist's behavior could have been toned down a bit to make it more enjoyable.

Read in Everything's Eventual by Stephen King.

In this short story, a divorcing couple decides to have lunch at a restaurant. Little do they know that the maître d' there is completely crazy. As they enter the establishment, they are greeted with strange behavior from the maître d'. His actions and words start to unnerve the couple. The story then takes a quick and entertaining turn as it develops into a slasher-like tale. The couple finds themselves in a terrifying situation, not knowing what the maître d' will do next. Stephen King's masterful storytelling keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, eagerly turning the pages to find out the outcome of this thrilling encounter.

This short story is a prime example of King's ability to create a sense of tension and excitement in a relatively short amount of time. It's a quick read that packs a punch and leaves a lasting impression on the reader.
