I've always loved the stories of the Family that appear in Bradbury's other works, especially the story about Uncle Einar that originally appeared in The October Country. I love that he never comes out and says "vampire" or "blood," but talks about the Family being pale, sleeping at night, and only savoring a "rich wine." They're not scary, but they're strange and a little bit fey, and I was not at all surprised to learn from the Author's Note at the end that it was originally conceived as a joint project between Charles Addams and Bradbury, and that Addams did the original cover art of the house, though the complete project ultimately never came together. I would have loved to have seen that, I think it would have been stellar.

Pídele que tome esa misma alma y la introduzca en el tronco de un árbol, y te despertarás a la mañana siguiente con pájaros cantando en tu cabeza verde. Pide ser pura lluvia, y caerás sobre todas las cosas. Pide ser la Luna, y súbitamente mirarás hacia abajo para ver tu pálida luz que pinta pueblos perdidos con el color de las lápidas y los fantasmas espectrales.

La obra de Bradbury siempre me puede, es mi debilidad. Me hace sentir como si viviera en el País de Octubre, y todos los días es Halloween. "De la ceniza volverás" es una lectura amena, cálida y nostálgica, como todas las de Bradbury, y está llena de aventuras fantásticas y sobrenaturales. Recomendadísimo.

A wonderful read for October or any time.

Prvi puta da sam ove priče pročitao po nekakvom kronološkom redu, obzirom da zbirke koje su kod nas izašle Mračna zemlja i Mračni karneval, su bez nekakvog redosljeda i povezanosti stavljene unutra. Ovo mi je baš prijalo. Jedino mi je žao što se u nekim pričama spominju i vampiri, ok, nije loše ali mi je dosta Lestatova, Šurjak saga i svih Drakula u današnje vrijeme.
