"Shopaholic Ties The Knot"
LOVED IT! It was fun to read and it truly shows life lessons people often times face in their lives. I loved how Rebecca became more rational in the shopping realm and that she finally got a lasting job, as a personal shopper at Barneys. Becky wanted to have the wedding of her dreams and Elinor, Luke's mother organized their wedding at the Plaza Hotel. Although the wedding plans seemed perfect, Becky's mother wanted for the wedding to take place in England to prolong the family tradition. Becky was torn between the luxurious wedding and her mother's expectations. Some of the major themes included morality over materialistic values. It was vital for Becky to make the right moves to make everyone happy, which resulted with Becky forgetting that the only two people that should be happy are herself and Luke, her fiance. Despite the fact that the plot is relatively simple, it reflects something we all face and can relate to, which makes it one of my favorite books! For instance, would one be tempted by luxury or stay true to the family traditions? Would you be willing to forget the fact that you dislike someone and would improve relationship between your loved one and his mother for him to be happy?...The author illustrates the acts of unselfishness, dedication, and loyalty done by Becky which makes her an admirable character. She is never brought down by troubles and always remains optimistic, energetic, and headstrong. It is not impossible in life and so she is one of those genuine characters, many people may actually look up to. I do recommend this book, because once you will go beyond the text and see in between the lines you will understand that something that simple beholds the complex morals and values in life. I can relate it to Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland". At first glance, it is this childish novel of a girl falling into the rabbit hole and afterwards all the adventure ends up nothing but a dream. YET, once we look on the phycological level, through Alice's imagination, we could see her inner self; her character; her phycological set up. You have to read this book and interpret the hidden meaning based on your own perspective.

Great chick lit book! Fast read and made me laugh. Like most Sophie Kinsella books, this is not a really "deep" book, but fun for the beach or when you're looking for something pretty light.

I recently read all of the books in the Shopaholic series. They are great for a laugh and very addicting! Disney is making a movie out of the first one that I am looking forward to seeing!

Good book, and entertaining, but I'm not sure how believable the characters really are and I found myself wanting to jump into the pages and shake Becky on several occasions.

Smart comes in many forms. Here, Becky may not seems smart to some left brain people, but she possesses creative thinking, kind and passionate (of shopping in particular)

Sophie Kinsella is absolutely hilarious!! Any girl who loves shopping or comical writing would love this series. True, her main character is very absent-minded, day dreamy and crazy, but that's why everyone likes the series. And it's perfect perfect perfect for reading on holiday! :D

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan was about a women Rebecca Bloomwood, and she has a serious shopping problem, but not only shoping though, it was also about the finacial struggle for Rebecca Bloomwood. Its difficult to be a shopaholic. The book also talked about Rebeccas struggle with her new husband Luke. As they move from England to Manhattan. Becky is funny, cute, awkward and troubled. She seems to always be in a pickle with money but she seems to get herself out of it. Sophie Kinsella does a good job with her word choice but she could make it a little different because its told from first person and i dont like it very much because Becky is ignorant in a way. Id say the theme of this book is be yourself because Rebecca is constantly worring about what her soon to be husband thinks about her. I believe that many people would like this book but i would reccomend it to female because im not sure if boys would like it. This book had much hummor and was a great book. I didn't like it nearly as much as the first one though.
