This book has 2 separate stories. Fried green tomatoes and welcome to the world baby girl.

First off, I love the movie fried green tomatoes. It reminds me of a family night when I was a kid. This book has been on my wishlist for years. That said, it was a good story but man was I confused by all of the random added characters and time jumps. The dates are all over the place. I had no idea what I was reading at some parts. It had all of the sections from the movie but they changed so much from the book and left out a lot of the characters from the book.
Solid 3 stars.

I really loved welcome to the world, baby girl and am now reading the next books in the series. This book also jumps around time frames but it's not bad. I really did relate to Dena. I came from a very messy family and have felt the same way. I'm happy she figures out what's important. It reminds me of a mix of Stars Hollow and Andy Griffith.

This book had such a slow start I almost didn’t finish. I was probably over halfway through before I actually began to enjoy it. There was so much jumping around between timelines that it was difficult to follow at times.

A good read. I read it at the beach (where I do most of my reading). I want to read this entire series of Fannie Flagg books. The characters are so warm, and you feel like you want to find that town and settle down there.

Now why can't I just board a train and get off at the Whistle Stop Cafe during its hay day in 1933 and tuck into some fried green tomatoes?

Finally got to read the book. Have watched the movie many times and now can say I love them both.

Fannie Flagg turns out to be a very good author. This was an amazing story. The movie was good too but not as good as the book

Love this book, so many themes, families, mysteries, too much story for a movie- which could not do it justice. And recipes!

Enjoyed the book. It was nice to read something from several points of view. And the chapters were quick and easy, so you could put down and pick back up easily. We had a nice, but short discussion, at book club. I think it is fun to read these "classics"!
